So let me get this straight:
A character who is the latest in a long line of villains, who are reincarnated using magic, is reincarnated good because someone got one of the ingredients wrong, is well meaning but not always very bright and now lives in a huge house with a comic relief sidekick and a butler.

I did, and while the networks were kind and receptive, it either wasn't the right project for them, or something that was in development with them is too similar . I still want Bluehilda to become and animated series, but for now I am writing and drawing comics of her on Patreon. Right now it's a soft reboot of the short, but new stories are coming in August!

Just seeing this now in 2020. Gorgeous animation (it's Titmouse), cartoony AF, solid premise. It just feels like it needs a bit of contrast? Like every character is extreme and pulling faces every other second. There's no "straight man" to all the wackiness. Still, what a fun short!
Agreed. That's what I am doing now with the Bluehilda comic. It's so much better when Bluehilda's the only one to have extreme expressions, while everyone else is going to be relatively normal, or not as extreme in their expressions. Contrasts is fun!
When i become a animator. I think i am personally make all of my characters have their fair share of exaggeration. The 10th animation princpible you mastered.

@Pedro Ortega rarely and when it does you can tell. There are a few female side characters in gravity falls with male voice actors, but i dont think grenda counts as she is supposed to sound like a dude

@@OneBiasedOpinion this guy has been working on this short since 2014 and it was completed in 2017 so I doubt he/she had studio money.
I mean...good animation really just takes time and effort more than mere budget. The budget is just to get more people working on it with more materials.
I like how she just casually yet chaotically shapeshifts during conversation like the Warden of Superjail.

Shiva R that’s not quite how cartoons are produced *after* being picked up by a network. Usually they build up a backlog of progress so you’ll have like four years worth of progress on several episodes with like one or two months worth of progress left to finish the episodes, so you can have a release schedule exist at _least._ I don’t know how many people from Studio Titmouse worked on this but hypothetically Bluehilda as a show would have access to more resources and a more streamlined production cycle.
Also we don’t even know what happened behind the scenes like if there were any creative revisions, so a lot of factors could play a role in why this animation took 4 years besides the obviously amazing animation quality.
She’s like the child of The Mask and Genie from Aladdin.

The jokes were hit or miss but that was some really impressive animation.
They were pretty much all hit for me. All killer, no filler.
There is so much zany expressionism squeezed together in such a short time and it has brought me unbridled joy to witness it! Super cudos, guys! This was PHENOMENAL. The animation, the designs, the voice acting, the movement, the jokes, the combat, and the characters are all top notch! You certainly have my support! :D

Everything about the animation is smooth, fluid, fast-paced, creative, detailed, colourful and has a ton of energy. I love Bluehilda, she makes me think of a much younger and energetic Genie form Aladdin.

@Snake Bite It was a joke at the expenses of John K., who took 6 years to make a low quality short with the money taken from his fans and lied to them. I don't know how long it took at them to finish it, but I think they didn't had all the cash that John got via Kickstarter but still managed to make a funny short that's overral better than "Cans without labels"
@Snake Bite Gee, sorry! I am not an animator, I'm not able to draw a straight line but I perfectly know that animating takes a long time to do, especially if it's so smooth. I loved this video, I loved it A LOT! And I wrote it before. What I was calling mediocre or bad was a short video made by the autor of Ren and Stimpy that was released a while ago and was in developement hell for years and when it came out had outdated graphics and bad humor. This video instead is pratically perfect compared to many other similar shorts I saw before

I can almost garuntee that if this was rejected by executives, the sheer amount of animation has to have been a large factor.
I can't for the life of me tell how this would be animated in any other way than frame by frame by hand like in the old days
No assistant tools, no frills, every cell is hand drawn. It's so, for lack of a better term, *animated.* I can't fathom how you'd make the process any easier, and I don't think any executive nowadays would ever let that fly for a TV show
Maybe not frame by frame, but lately I’ve been impressed with how toonboom’s rigging is handled and CGI is starting to interest me.

There was so much work put on to this, it’s sooo wacky the voices are so amazing, fits well with the characters, the characters voices and looks fit very well with the personality, story is funny, this is very underrated ❤️✌️ keep going
i love this character she's wacky enough to be entertaining but not annoying enough to want to bleach your eyes.
A master class in animation no doubt. Fun story too, practically perfect. Kinda reminds me of Skottie Young's "I Hate Fairyland."

I fricking love this SO MUCH, you have no idea how much I laughed😂 I just really love how flexible the characters are and like so jumpy, idk that’s how I would describe it, also very exaggerated! Also I’ve never seen a character use their tongue like that!? 11/10 for sure
