Wow! What an improvement from the before photos. It’s great that the family is helping out.😊
I enjoy watching you do your thing. I felt that you should have talked about two things for the people who don't know 1 scrub line. No part of your suspension should ever be below the rim it can be very dangerous if you get a flat, and 2 when you cut coils make sure they end at the same point as the factory spring. A lot of cars have pockets on the a arm that the spring end sits in, so make sure to line them up before you cut so the spring seats properly. Keep up the cool work, everyone.
Good call on scrub line. This car isn’t low enough that scrub line is an issue, which is probably why I never thought to mention it
That drop looks great, the lake pipes would be a big improvement, paint match those skirts should be better and the tires make the cake, all in all Shannons Meteor is on the way to being the cool ride she was wishing for. Great job Lee, Shannon and Lux.
Agreed!
Ya'll lookin fine in that Meteor 49.
Amazing how changing the stance/lowering can make such a difference! Yes to the lake pipes! Go LGKustoms, keep moving forward!
Wheels and stance are the most important things with a car!
Shannon your a true car fanatic. And the modifications are spot on. Lee you are a true family man. More power to you. And lux ong what a star. It’s good to see Doris with a stick. It just shows what more do you need. Health and happiness is the goal to a good life.. cheers all the very best wishes.Tim.
Doris says hi
That car B Stylin Lee.....:-) Great job.
Great family life, car and video.
Ya, me neither. Caught me by surprise on my last car. I installed a few bulbs and they looked OK but didn't work in the socket. I took one out and it lit up with alligator clips to the battery, but again it didn't work when installed. On the second try with alligator clips I noticed they were polarity sensitive.
Hey this is David, your old insurance broker in Alberta, great to see you keep the old skool rod shop going!
Hi David!
If loud pipes save lives , no one will die in North west Indiana when I drive my 47 Ford Tudor!
I've been riding on cut coils on my 51 Ford Custom for 24 years.
Dude!!! Coolest family hot rod ever!!!✌️
Awesome 👍cool hot rod family
Very cool awesome job well done. No the springs are the same from top to bottom cutting them is just fine. Job well done 👍👍🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦🛠️
Lee I want to thank you for all your great video work. I can only imagine that you have a lot of B film sitting around too. If that's the case I for one would love to see more of what your up to in the shop and out and about. Did you not formerly do a show on Thursdays as well? Any one else want to see more of Lee's work? Hi to Shannon and Lux
Thanks. Actually I don’t have much extra footage kicking around. When I finish a video project I usually delete all the footage as I’m not set up to store or manage it properly. CZcams is more of a hobby for me.
I’ve only done one video a week, the Thursday videos must be an imposter 😆
Look great
Nicely done, you two. I've been eagerly waiting for this episode. Outstanding!!!
Yup...makin' cool cooler!
Love the car
Great looking ride. Nicely done.
Dale from southern ont great job
Thanks for sharing, always interesting!
Can't wait to see you chop it
Haha me too! Shannon’s not 100% on board… yet…
It looks sick ,love the stance
Looks so much better 😍
good show 😎👍
Enjoyed the video. Suggest ditching the skirts and putting on the Lancer hubcaps. Lakes pipes? No, just simple duals exiting under rear bumper.
I’m leaning towards lake pipes cause they give the illusion of a lower stance without making it lower. Plus it’ll cover the giant dent in the passenger rocker panel!
And lake pipes are much easier to fabricate than building exhaust up and over the axle out the back.
Sweet ride!! Nice mods..
Lee, most LED bulbs are polarity sensitive, see if they glow when wired direct to a battery and note + and - then you might have to reverse the pigtail polarity. If the bulbs are signal lights you'll need an electronic flasher which is tricky with 6V, or you can wire in a resistor to make the old coil flasher work. Ohm test the existing bulbs to determine the load required.
I didn’t even think of polarity!
Meteor looks great! Noticed one of your beach crowd drives that green Model A coupe with the “Pontiac” small block. A very nice car!
Brian Betts Model A with a 265. Canadian Pontiacs all used Chevrolet engines rebadged as “Pontiac” engines.
Yep, knew that. Nice to fool with Americans, LOL. Mr. Betts has a sweet ride!
Hugs from Brasil
Family.
looks sweet!!
Looks cool 😎
Love it!
Great video guys!
Thanks for watching
Hub caps look great!
I think so too!
I would recommend emptying the tank & adding gas back gallon at a time to check new gauge positions. Accurate is nice, but not reading high will save you aggravation & loss of domestic tranquility.
Also agree with cutting coils. Makes them stiffer which should not be a problem for a soft old cruiser, heated springs often continue to
keep sagging. Carl, TX
New sending unit reads full when the tank is full which is great. But it reads empty when the tank is still half full…
@@LGKustoms Better than other way around. Carl
Run your meter through the sweep to determine arm length compared to where the sender resists.
Way cooler 👍 just shows a little labor goes a long way !! Keep Cruzin !!
In Australia we get our coil springs reset if we don't want to void insurance. Better to use stiffer reset rear springs if you don't want to ride bump stops . . . car however looks great
How do you reset a spring? Like rearch them?
I managed a sports car wrecking yard/new parts/repair shop for 25 years, lost count of the MG/Triumph rear springs we sent to be reset to original height. You could get them flattened and a heavy leaf added. Front coils the safest way is a replacement thicker shortened spring. Must admit when I was a teenage apprentice we often cut coils of whatever we could afford . . . I'm in my late 70s now, forgive me living in the past
Looks way better now with a bit of drop and proper tires. Love the lancer caps too.
There’s lake pipes on sale on Amazon (Patriot brand)I just bought a set for the 56.
I’m surprised the front is on the bump stops with only a coil and a half cut.
Can you flip and swap the spindles from side to side or is that only on 49s?
I’d like to get another set of uprights so I can see what all is involved with flipping them. That being said, I’ve since trimmed the bump stops down to 3/4” and it doesn’t ride on them anymore, and the stance looks spot on, so maybe I’ll just leave it as is
@@LGKustoms well I do know they need to be heated and bent to correct camber.
🥂😄😁👍
I don’t know… I think it needs the rear caps too.
Maybe… Shannon does have the full set
It's not coil cutting it the ones who take a torch and partially collapse the springs
I’ve definitely heated my fair share of coils haha. It works too, just not as accurate and doesn’t ride as nice.
I’m not sure why people go back to bias ply tires when there are wide white radials available and radial tires make any car drive better. Please educate me. I watched a classmate in high school lower his 61 Impala hardtop during our lunch hour by heating the front springs with a torch😅. This was in 1970 when 61-66 Impalas were a dime a dozen, even SS’s.
No that’s not true radials don’t make everything better the problem is the radials grab the road better and the front ends from 70 and older were not as tight as the new stuff radials make it wander all over were the bias ones don’t. Just try it you will see. 👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🛠️
It’s a details thing. Wide white radials look good from a distance, but up close they don’t have that vintage look of a bias ply. They’re fatter, the tread looks completely different, and most importantly they don’t have that fantastic pie crust along the edge of the side wall.
Bias ply tires are also much more affordable and they make slow speed steering (parking lots, or parallel parking) way easier for cars with manual steering such as Shannon’s meteor. Parallel parking with the radials that used to be on this car was not fun, and now it’s totally manageable.
Do the bias plies drive as nice going down the road? No they don’t. But that’s part of the charm with driving a 75 year old. And once you get used to them, the difference in drivability is not even noticeable.
