- Need every bit of heat you can muster from your heating radiators? A cheap more professional material than Al`s tin foil. Still not a lot of money.

Thanks Al. - Jak na to + styl
Such a lovely couple these two are.🙏🏽 I’ll put money on it that the polystyrene backed Mylar is 1000x + more heat efficient than aluminium foil. This is because aluminium foil is a conductor which actually takes the majority of radiated heat and transmits it through the brickwork. However, it does reflect the infrared portion which can make it feel warmer when standing in front of an aluminium foil backed rad.
Thanks Yuri.
perfect, you are one of the few people showing a method to stick the foil to the wall, which improves the effectiveness.
Thanks 👍
Thanks Jan and Al 👍 Going to do this by following Al’s link to the online store in the description above, by way of saying thanks 🤗
Thanks for that! Cheers Jackie.
Thanks both for this channel. It's been very helpful. Merry Christmas.
Same to you!
Very good idea must save lot money over winter time
Yes for sure
Thanks Jan. Useful tip indeed. And very affordable I imagine too?
Absolutely!
I'm a bit disappointed that Jan didn't first show us how to take the radiator off the wall so she could put the paper on easily. Has Jan not been watching your plumbing videos Al? 😂
Ha ha she was feeling lazy that day. Ha ha.
@@dereton33😂😂
Thank you I wanted to do this but couldnt find it in that well known DIY shop.
Glad I could help
Job well done love.
Thanks 😀
Lovely, thank you.
Thank you too!
Lovely stuff Jan! However, Al I still need to see before and after shots on the thermo cam widget ;)
Good idea.
@@dereton33 yes please, give us the scientific results
Your a lucky man Alan😄
Sure am.
If you don't have a double-sided tape, you can use a normal tape that is wide enough to extend a few cm from the foil edge.
Thanks for the tip.
Gave me an idea , got old camping roll mat in the garage
Worth a go.
@@dereton33 wife went mad , off to get propper stuff later
I hope you made Jan another cup of tea after all that work....
She demanded coffee with an extra shot ha ha.
Hahaha! Well here I am, back again - it started with halogen ovens, moved onto radiator valves and now I'm here looking at reflective foil - Is there anything this channel doesn't cover?
Welcome back! And no. Ha ha.
I love your jumper. Where is it from?
Next.
Single panel vs double radiators Alan. In a colder house, is there ever a reason not to go with doubles, even if the rooms aren't that big and singles technically cover the required BTU output?
I would always go with a double. The required BTU does not factor in this extreme cold weather. You can always turn it down, but a single rad running flat out can not be turned up.
@@dereton33 Thanks. Had 5 new rads fitted recently, was advised by company they were perfectly adequate but even before the cold snap, I didn't think they were up to it. Age/insulation level of house wasn't taken into account.
@@hughjass8430 the cost of doubles to singles isn't much
0:08 Where did you get the doors (company name)? Is it stained glass?
No idea was here when we moved in.
2 sugars Jan?
Ha ha.
You did this video last week?
That one was for tin Foil JIm, this is professional foam backed stuff. Anyway jan does it better than me. ha ha.
Is this available in UK, what is the actual name of it?
Cant remember think it was from Amazon. It is available in the UK.
It's I think called Radiator reflector. Yes it is in the UK. Amazon does sell it, screw fix.
👍👍👍🤩
Thanks. From, It`s only us. Ha ha.
@@dereton33 lol 😂
Any idea, realistically, how much difference this makes? Or is that a topic for a future video?
I am reserving for a follow on video.
Don't keep us in suspense ! Did it make any difference?🤔
Sorry, I meant to get back on this. So yes it did.
I hope this works but my brain doesn't compute. The only way the heat can go is up which it's already doing.
It will also go back into your wall.
Looks like you're out of a job Al 😂😂
Yes she always make a better video than me. Ha ha.
@@dereton33 😂😂
Jobs a gooden
Thanks.
