- An easy and affordable way to save energy and on your heating bills by fitting reflective radiator foil, it works by reflecting any heat that normally finds its way into the wall behind your radiator back and up into your room. You can fit this foil to virtually any radiator and only need some time and basic tools to complete the job, we bought our foil from Screwfix, it comes on a large roll and is around £6 at the time of making this video November 2019. After fitting the radiator reflective foil we noticed an immediate improvement in the room, so well worth doing.

Thanks guys, planning to do this today. I also read cleaning behind the rad first makes a difference to efficiency. Great simple video.
Oh I've never heard that you'd think it'd would be pretty hard to clean behind it
Thanks for this helped me a lot will be getting my roll from B&Q today😌
Have fun!
Good video and thanks for the tip 😁
Very helpful, and Thankyou for the very clear explanation 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You are welcome!
Thnk u , worked perfectly for me (woman) jst followed ur steps , stay blessed , hope i would save a bit of heat this way 🙏
Thank you this.
Di put the foil around carboard and pit it behind rd or can i just drop the foil down there on own thanks
very good, thank you so much!
Glad you liked it!
My radiators have pipes coming out of the wall at back of radiators, centre then out to valves so I have not got a clear space. ☹️
Can you use any one
I remember this being a thing back in the late 70's.
obviously material is far more advanced these days, but if you had the money you would get the reflective stuff, otherwise you would use old cardboard boxes.it does work.
for £6 to do three radiators it's not bad value at all.definitely buying!
Between the bed and the heater at least 20 cm distance . Thus, the heater can heat better. ^^
Where I get that from plz
Thank you for the advice, I just bought the same one in screwfix 4mt £6.29 in Charlton-London Nov 2020, I will put 2 layers see if it makes any difference. Thank youuuuu
Sounds great!
Did it work?
@@azb3043 he didn't reply as he burnt to death.
Does the foil need to be taped to the wall or can it just hang loosely like in the video? Is there any fire risk?
No, it just sits behind the radiator and no fire issues thanks.
Most recommend tape, when it first came out it was fitted with wall paper adhesive, will work always. So pin with drawing pins, but support the corners with a small piece of cello tape.
Hi can this be done with kitchen foil tll I get some radiators ones and will it cause any fire thanks
Yes it can, and no it won't cause a problem.
Great video. But what if you have a radiator that is attached to your wall and behind a removable vented grate?
Best thing is use your brain pal
What kind of oil can I use for my window to stop the heat from coming in
solar reflective
Is it the same principle for a storage heater.
yes actually it should help with those too
Will tin foil do the same job if foil on thin cardboard?
The foil would reflect the heat, so I think it actually would.
I want to keep the heat out in the summer what do I use
solar reflective window film should help a lot with that
Where do you buy the foil roll from ? Somewhere as cheap as possible ideally
you can get it from screwfix thanks
@@DanielJohnHowTo Thankyou
Ia this relevant for concrete walls or only for wood structured homes ?
All walls that absorb heat, better on external walls. Not sure it would be worth fitting on a tiled wall tbh.
I can't hear you.
I’m worried about fire risk ?
no risk of that
Don't you own a Tape Measure? Plus this is the cheap foil backing, there are thicker better backing foils out there....
I'm sure there is better stuff about, like with everything.
@ Panda Plumbing he didn't require a tape measure, it fitted perfectly
Hi, can I use kitchen foil, does that gonna have the same affect ? Does anyone try that?
it should still reflect the heat actually.
Thank you, will it be less effective as it thinner? How often should i change this? Until it worn off ?
smile :)
You need to make some changes. Check Avasva Solutions if you want to make it right.
What do you mean?
Step one is to surely move furniture away from the rad? 🤷🤷 Very frustrating to watch .
yes true, but no need thanks as the foil fits behind the rad easily.
A bit harsh. Thought this video was very helpful, definitely not frustrating 😂
Well go and watch another video then if this is so frustrating
Do we really need the performance of how to cut enough foil ? It is surely common sense. Instantly you can feel more heat coming into the room ? What with your face 2mm from it? Hahahahahahah .nice one .
It's not really about cutting foil , the video is about how to save energy with the foil and how easy it is to install.
I just installed mine and I could tell the difference immediately standing half meter from the radiator
Don’t be a troll pal.

@ Lee nobody unfortunately common sense isn't very common in today's world. Hopefully you have some 🤗
