My friend was at the airport on a 1hr layover when it happened. They had to evacuate and everybody had to go through TSA again. He finally got on his plane at 11:30, almost 12 hours later.

Clearly punishment isn’t working. What should we do anyway? Keep every criminal locked up forever on the taxpayer’s dime? Euthanize them all? We need to look to the judicial systems of other countries, which are not so hyper-focused on the “what was done” (like America is), and more focused on the “why it was done”. We need to invest in rehabilitation, not increasing punishments. Obviously, the punishments are not enough of a deterrent.

You know what part of the problem is? Back in the early/mid 2000's I was attacked and shot at by 2 blacks who tried to knock me off my bike and steal it. Left side of face was bruised for weeks. The story: I was attacked by two blacks while riding my bicycle who tried to steal it. The left side of my face was bruise but they never got me off of the bike. As I rode away they started shooting at me. So I called the police who came and "took the report" Cops: " What caliber gun was it?" Me: " A .22 LR." Cops: " How do you know that? " Me: " I was raised around guns and was weapons in the military. I know the sound of a .22 LR." Cops: " How do you know they were shooting at you and not the ground or in the air." Me: " I heard the whiz of the bullet as it past on my left side." Cops: " How do you know it was a bullet?" Me: " If you served in the military you know the sound of a bullet or sharpnel flying past you." It was like the cops were looking for excuses not to look for or arrest them. The cops asked what they were wearing, how many ( 2) and I told them. I was told to wait here while they searched for them. The cops came back about 15 minutes later to pick me up to ID them. Me: " Yes, that's them." Cop: " Ok we found a .22 LR pistol on them. We'll take them to jail but they will be released in the morning because you cannot say which shot at you." Both were 17, both involved in a robbery attempt with physical harm, they had a concealed handgun and were under age to possess a handgun. Cop: " There's nothing we can charge them with. What reply did I get from a woke black? This: "Pjay Basmaignee Pjay Basmaignee 1 hour ago @Samuel Schick you mean you attacked 2 blacks and played victim like white ppl do. We need to look to the judicial systems of other countries, which are not so hyper-focused on the “what was done” (like America is), and more focused on the “why it was done”. We need to invest in rehabilitation, not increasing punishments. Obviously, the punishments are not enough of a deterrent.

Mental health needs to be prioritized. This woman clearly isn't right in the head for whatever reason(s). If we took mental health more seriously and didn't place such a stigma on, it we'd prevent a lot of situations like this. Sad. Great job by the DPD in how they handled the situation; an example of a well staffed, well trained team in this particular instance; that needs to be the rule not the exception. Anyhow, we need to invest in our society PRIOR to tragedy. Hard to realize this beforehand but the current times are a wake up call, too many shootings and preventable violence and tragedy. An ounce of prevention always beats a pound of cure. Let's get ahead of these problems. Guns should be only in the hands of those who have respect for such a weapon. Mentally sick people aren't allowed to legally gain possession of arms. Investing in making mental health more accessible and acceptable will catch people like this BEFORE it gets to this point whether they have a rap sheet or not. In any case, God bless. You know what part of the problem is? Back in the early/mid 2000's I was attacked and shot at by 2 blacks who tried to knock me off my bike and steal it. Left side of face was bruised for weeks. The story:
I was attacked by two blacks while riding my bicycle who tried to steal it. The left side of my face was bruise but they never got me off of the bike. As I rode away they started shooting at me.
So I called the police who came and "took the report"
Cops: " What caliber gun was it?"
Me: " A .22 LR."
Cops: " How do you know that? "
Me: " I was raised around guns and was weapons in the military. I know the sound of a .22 LR."
Cops: " How do you know they were shooting at you and not the ground or in the air."
Me: " I heard the whiz of the bullet as it past on my left side."
Cops: " How do you know it was a bullet?"
Me: " If you served in the military you know the sound of a bullet or sharpnel flying past you."
It was like the cops were looking for excuses not to look for or arrest them.
The cops asked what they were wearing, how many ( 2) and I told them. I was told to wait here while they searched for them. The cops came back about 15 minutes later to pick me up to ID them.
Me: " Yes, that's them."
Cop: " Ok we found a .22 LR pistol on them. We'll take them to jail but they will be released in the morning because you cannot say which shot at you."
Both were 17, both involved in a robbery attempt with physical harm, they had a concealed handgun and were under age to possess a handgun.
Cop: " There's nothing we can charge them with.
