Berrics is just for fun but its made enough money and has such massive sponsors that it’s obliged to present as though its more serious than it is. these events arent scripted. Cariuma just sponsors a few good flat skaters. I run events in different sports, the competitors sometimes ride for the main sponsor, judges dont push them more because they ride for them, its just at the high level of the sport everyones really good. especially when some brands are entirely built around their team all having multiple world championships. you arent going to stop those guys from making it pretty far.
History is repeating itself... Es Game of Skate used to be the big prestigious game of skate tournament... Then the organisers seemingly attempted to influence outcomes and it ruined the whole thing. For the 2013? tournament, Es separated it into separate Pro and Am divisions and they banned Alex Mizurov (the champion from the previous year) from competing in the Pro division. Alex Mizurov's sponsors even tried to do things to meet criteria to give him pro status for the tournament. Tournament organisers still said no, and he could only compete in the Am division. The conspiracy theory back then was that Es wanted an american pro champion. And they got it. Chris Cole won the Pro division and Alex Mizurov won the Am division. Ironically, these 2 skaters had played against each other in one of the best games of skate ever in the previous years final. Did they get to play eachother again even after winning their respective divisions? No The berrics is following a very similar path.
I can honestly see it with the amount of fuck around skating in this season and having kids officiate the matches, some games with terrible redo calls on perfectly fine tricks, there seems to be something fishy going on if not to rig the bracket, definitely to influence the results in a particular direction.

Long games only really happen when skaters run out of tricks, and essentially take turns giving up offense trying to land tricks that they don't have on lock. Until there's enough tape on tricks that Jamie struggles with, he might end up running BATB for the next few years lol.

I've been thinking about how they can pre record rounds 1-3 all at once (if that's indeed what they did), and information on the winners doesn't get out to the public.. Last year Sean Davis/Shaun Hover rematch seemed to have been filmed in real time right after the first battle got all the negative feedback, it doesn't seem like the 13th season went with this format of filming in real time every week at all, but all in one go. There's a comment on the Tyler vs Joslin vid that said something to the effect of "And Luan beat Jamie, so we could get Luan vs Tyler in the finals" I'm inclined to believe the comment since all it would take is one person at the battle in person months ago to tell a friend the winner, then the friend types it as a comment. It doesn't seem like a troll comment. It made me wonder how they're able to keep the information from the public with people watching the games in person.. it seems so easy for info on winners to get out beforehand (again IF indeed all battles from round 1-3 were filmed months ago, which seems to be the case)

cariuma makes most of their sales outside of skateboarding. they don't have ties to scientology outside of berra. there is a large venture capital firm in signapore that funds them as well. if i had to guess, their biggest sales in skateboarding would be from mike v fans. he still has a very large loyal fan base.
Not when nobody in the contest is capable of delivering a 100 turn battle, landing all the fundamentals and harder tricks. Chris and Luan easily could in years past, but respectfully it seems they have just about past their primes (but still good). While i agree that some of the games appear fixed, i wouldnt necessarily say they are 'scripted'... and i certainly wouldnt say the entire bracket is scripted/rigged just because the leading sponsor has several skaters in late bracket. I think its easy to look at some of the coincidences and unfortunate circumstances (i.e. Carlos Injury) and say "its rigged" but we all have to remember how difficult skating actually is, and even more difficult to fake. I personally dont think Andys game, or any games were rigged, including the Legion battles. I think its fair to accept that Legion battles are for the viewers to kill space and time, they arent meant to disrupt. If one of the 2 football teams in the super bowl tragically dies in a plane wreck, who would take their place? The game woudl jsut be forfeit, or in this case, the skater who didnt get injured would move on. Side note: the sponsor overloading the bracket is unfortunate yes, but not rare or evidence of rigginng individual games. This happens on a way worse scale and scope in the X-Games. Look at any of the last few winter sports (ski and snowboard slopesstyle, knuckle huck specifically) Monster has full control and has installed 30-50% of the total field of skiers/snowboarders as Monster athletes. A lot are probably too young to remember, but the same thing happened a few decades ago with Nike. No one wanted a non-skate brand sponsoring skaters, or involved in skating in any way at all.

it seems like the ones who made the top tier is a tie between sewa, shane and Pj. Where Sewa and Pj are theoretically both double champs, but Shane never prevailed. That's kinda specially tho. and let's be honest: Sewa prolly wouldn't had call the toe drag if there where T on T, but they where 4-0... which made me think even back than, that he thought he'll win regardless. the chances were very great, right dumbdata?! And second: Joslin would prolly had also missed the 2nd fs double flip, right? So you can say, if you want to, that Sewa also is supposed to be a double champ... Mike Mo seems to be 2nd on that list. cariuma makes most of their sales outside of skateboarding. they don't have ties to scientology outside of berra. there is a large venture capital firm in signapore that funds them as well. if i had to guess, their biggest sales in skateboarding would be from mike v fans. he still has a very large loyal fan base.

Not when nobody in the contest is capable of delivering a 100 turn battle, landing all the fundamentals and harder tricks. Chris and Luan easily could in years past, but respectfully it seems they have just about past their primes (but still good). While i agree that some of the games appear fixed, i wouldnt necessarily say they are 'scripted'... and i certainly wouldnt say the entire bracket is scripted/rigged just because the leading sponsor has several skaters in late bracket. I think its easy to look at some of the coincidences and unfortunate circumstances (i.e. Carlos Injury) and say "its rigged" but we all have to remember how difficult skating actually is, and even more difficult to fake. I personally dont think Andys game, or any games were rigged, including the Legion battles. I think its fair to accept that Legion battles are for the viewers to kill space and time, they arent meant to disrupt. If one of the 2 football teams in the super bowl tragically dies in a plane wreck, who would take their place? The game woudl jsut be forfeit, or in this case, the skater who didnt get injured would move on.
Side note: the sponsor overloading the bracket is unfortunate yes, but not rare or evidence of rigginng individual games. This happens on a way worse scale and scope in the X-Games. Look at any of the last few winter sports (ski and snowboard slopesstyle, knuckle huck specifically) Monster has full control and has installed 30-50% of the total field of skiers/snowboarders as Monster athletes.
