  • Here's a tour of my 2021 GT Pro Performer Heritage bike, which is a reissue of the 1986 GT Pro Performer, along with some of my thoughts on it, and details on the upgrades I've made to it.
I bought it from Albe’s (www.albes.com) in July 2020 at the (then) MSRP of $675 USD. These are still really hard to find as of November 2020 due to the pandemic causing big delays in production. I believe more are being released around March 2021.
I could've gone into more detail in some areas, so if you want more info on anything, let me know and I'll reply or maybe I'll make a follow-up video.

Hey Chris, enjoyed the video. Read all the comments. Good stuff👍 quick story, was into BMX in the late 80's early 90's. Had a 88 haro group1b. 1990 or 91 gt performer in white. Frame cracked on the haro so I replaced the frame with a 91' ELF. Still have that bike now. Recently watched Rad. Started looking up vintage bmx online and am getting back into it. Came across your video and then I was searching for the 2021 pro performer like yours. It must have been my lucky day but I believe I scored one on Dan's comp website. I was able to add to cart and pay for it. Got shipping info for it and am hoping it shows up.

I've always ridden GT's, and my very first GT was a 1986 world tour in white that I got for Christmas in '86. It pretty much looked exactly like how these come. So once somebody gets it in stock I'm scooping one up immediately. For now I have a 1986 pro freestyle tour survivor that is my daily driver, and yes I do use it as intended with the tricks I've learned since I started back in '86, but I really want to get a modern version of it, and this is perfect.

And after looking into the specs and the design style of the frame itself , as I said in my earlier post , just like the era that it was inspired from, it's great for Flatland, but I wouldn't take it to the skatepark. Ditch the stock tires and tubes, they weigh a tonne . Replace with some nice modern kevlar tires and lite tubes. Aftermarket alloy seatpost, longer than stock, almost double, yet half the weight. Availability is a little better, but yeah, they retail for $825 currently, and crept up a bit from last year's price of $675 when I got it.
The stock tires are 2.35 wide, 60 PSI, and the new tires are 2.2 wide, 110 PSI. I usually like around 80 PSI for lesser rolling resistance and a little less bite during spins.

Yeah, I agree. The only thing that the bike didn't include was the pegs, so I can't imagine adding pegs and swapping the brake parts would add much weight. I weighed my 2018 Haro Lineage Master using the same scale and it's 28 lbs. My scale could be off. If you guys get a chance take the bike to a shop so the can look at it. They also put the chain on backwards from the factory if you do some research on the half link chains, they are designed to go one direction. Peace, I hope this may help.
