      *I commented this on another comment, but I'll post it again here because it is relevant--*
      I'm not saying that either console is better, but for the of you saying this has nothing to do with Sony, you are wrong. The gaming applications for this (via integration with Xbox One) are endless. It has much more potential than Project Morpheus ever will. If this pans out, it will have a direct effect on the Xbox ecosystem, thus it will also affect Sony. This is why competition is such a good thing. You think Sony won't begin looking into AR after this? We all benefit. That said, this thing looks fucking awesome. I'm excited for the gaming and real world applications that will come from this.

    Oculus rift comes out, loads of companies make rip off copies of it, including Sony, then Microsoft come out with something which is actually an innovative , original idea, I honestly think this is the future , this is amazing, I'm so glad this has come out because I've seen all the VRs and they are honestly shìt, they have crappy games with crappy graphics that are just unimpressive, but this is truly awsome.

      I would think that if you truly wanted to argue about that, you need to curb your bias a little bit. Because your bias is blinding you pretty severely. And no, I'm not being a fanboy. I'm being 100% serious. You assume Oculus is a crap company, and therefore don't keep up with them or completely ignore anything oculus. I guess what you don't realize is that Oculus is making headway like you wouldn't believe. BUT, they keep quiet. VERY quiet. But they should be getting their headset out within a year. And it's going to blow your mind more than you can imagine. Just do any research on it if you want to know the truth. If you don't like the truth, then don't research anything about OR. Just keep making assumptions then

      @avedic Před 9 lety +1

      MrLightstudios _"I've seen all the VRs and they are honestly shit."_ - That comment alone shows just how fucking *_INSANE_* technology has gotten. If you showed someone the Oculus a mere 10, 15, 20 years ago...they'd shit their pants. Show it to someone 50 years ago...and they'd probably be unable to process what they were seeing...and would flat-out deny they were awake. But...show it to you, in 2015, and you say "it's shit." Louis CK's bit about how whiny and pedantic everyone has become comes to mind. But...at the same time, you DO have a point. Are you nauseatingly whiny? Absolutely. Are you correct? In a away...yes.
      What fascinates me is....if you're honest with yourself and think deeply and thoughtfully, I think you'll agree that it's becoming blatantly _obvious_ that 'The Singularity' is indeed very very near. The truth is, _at the rate we're going_, by 2040 we'll have technological inventions that people today would consider physically *_impossible_*. Not just improbable...but *_impossible_*.
      I find it eerily fascinating that this is truly *_the first time in human history_* where we cannot even _remotely_ imagine what life will be like in a mere 20 years, let alone 40 years. That's *_never_* been the case....ever. Until now. Everything is going to change...religion, politics, economics, art, music, life itself...*_everything_*...in our lifetime. Get ready... Things are about to get a *_LOT_* weirder.

    Good to see Microsoft skipping VR, which will most likely end up as just a fad that will die off in 2-3 years after release. AR has a much more vibrant future, and Hololens looks awesome. And this is just the first iteration of the device. Still in prototype stage.

    If it has the potential to essentially replace the television in your home because you can have a holographic representation of a television of any size in any position follow you or stay static... I can imagine a price tag of well over the 6k joked about.
    It may come with a hub that you connect your Xbox One and set top box to so that the images from those particular machines can be shown through hololens... I'd pay anything for something like that!! I wouldn't have to worry about the positioning of my 55inch TV, I wouldn't have to worry about having all my consoles and PC connected to it. Just have all of them connected to a hub, I dunno, over there >> and set up my lounge room in a way that doesn't centre around a TV. I could sit anywhere that is in connection reach for the controller to the device and enjoy ANY size screen floating or fixed, curved or flat, 3D or not... ANYWHERE!!!
    Sign me up and as Fry elegantly put it, TAKE MY MONEY!!!!

    • @andrikken007

      it will properly stream from the xbox

    • @SithLordMills
      @SithLordMills Před 9 lety +3

      And that's my point. The hub could be what the Xbox One and a PS4 and a PC/movies, shows, television box be connected to to stream from. I hope. I hope soo, so badly that is a way it can be done.
      I've noticed that my Xbox One, PS4 and even the 360 didn't boot up without a monitor to boot to. Often I've turn the system on and not changed to the source channel for awhile, thinking that by the time I switch to it, it'll be ready for me but on switching it started the process. I'm not sure if that is actually a system requirement but it is something I have experienced. Therefore, if that is the case, we will need a "hub" sort of device to enable the systems to boot to initiate the streaming of said device to the Hololens. Now, I know that is not how PC's work... sometimes, if it isn't requiring a command from a keyboard to boot.
      I just think that would be an amazing way for Microsoft to actually and effectively "take over" the lounge room/whole house. Everyone in the house has one, doing their own thing but also being able to live in the actual world, seeing each other. That is the only flaw I see with VR. It cuts you off from the outside world so it becomes something you use when you want to do the activity the VR does. This Hololens could be something you wear to do almost everything in the home.
      Man, I am typing way too much. I need to be employed by Microsoft.

      imagining a price is bad buisness, this thing will cost what it costs to produce plus whatevver extra hey can squeeze out in a price range set for the largest most penetrable market, you need not only to maximize profit on the item itself, but to ensure as many sales can be made as possible, when your'e talking the difference between millions of buyers the number of units you can sell becomes a multiplicative factor of grand significance, the key is finding a balanced price that can earn the most per uniit, while maintianing maximal market penetration, that's how profits are made my friend, at first it will be more expensive than later, but they will adjust prices to see that market penetration continues on, you'll likely have one yourself sooner than you imagine, remember when touchscreen smartphones first came out? now phone companies are giving them away.

      The resolution of the equipment will be the limiting factor. Placing your television on the wall virtually will lower the resolution to about 320X180 since it will be a fraction of everything you'll see. Someday it will be as you say. 5-10 years. (In other words it would have to have a 4K resolution to put up an HD screen. I'm sure the equipment now is less than HD in total.)

    You guys do realize that this is not for video games at all right? It's AR, Augmented reality, which is the same thing you have on your 3DS, Vita and smartphones. but fancier. Video games are meant to be escapism, and VR headsets like Oculus are good for such thing.

    • @natsuhategplus352
      @natsuhategplus352 Před 9 lety +7

      I didn't see why AR can't be used for games and escapism. You don't have to be completely cut off from the world to do so. Not only that, games can be just as social as anything else. Down playing this AR a bit too much. Like saying, Oculus is like the Virtual Boy, but fancier.

    • @papasmurf7684

      I too believe this could have great potential for video games. some games will only be used as a hud display for games like halo ,but as another video was stating some pretty cool ideas like silent hill in your own home with shit popping out every corner.And I didn't think about until now but Pokemon would probably work well for it too just think about it you could be walking down the street and a hologram charzard pops up out of know where and you battle him.Although it may take awhile for acceptance hell Google glasses been trying to get the public to catch on for years but it still hasn't.But if this turns out to be everything that we expect I'm sure it'd be more accepted and not weird going outside with it on.And if you ever seen the movie GAMER it was augmented reality.

    AR will never give the same gaming experience as VR. Basically, i can see AR good at media consumption like watching Netflix while in the bathroom or Skyping with someone while sitting in your car anything that add elements to the real world but you won't get that VR in your face moment. For example, AR will never let you watch basketball on the courtside like VR can!! It's just can't!! So for this reason, AR will never be good for gaming and only good for every day used of things like media, utilities like clock weather..statistics, stocks....or even GPS map showing up while driving. Things that help you in the real world.

      1. how much data can it process
      2. what the range limit (distance) is for you to see and experience
      3. if we were able to hold items and the device read it as a virtual sword/gun/ect
      4. if hit detections could be performed (for being hit by a hologram)
      5. if conditions could be programmed e.g. life points, death

Apple on the other hand resins their devices along with add features. Although I have to admit that Apple is meant for easier use cause tbh microsoft devices take awhile to get to know everything.

    The astonished Chinese man replied, "It was not the Chinese who bombed your Pearl Harbour, it was the Japanese!" "Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese you're all the same," replied Spielberg.
    In return, the Chinese man gives Spielberg a slap and says, "You sank the Titanic, my forefathers were on that ship." Shocked, Spielberg replies, "It was the iceberg that sank the ship, not me!"

We don't call toasters by weird brand names, or wheels, fans, computers, etc, because they stand on their own merits, and can survive on their functionality alone.
    I am so completely sick, so jaded by these manufactured, pretentious, branding campaigns that these companies continually spew forth every year. I think the hololens will actually go quite far, eventually becoming as commonplace as a light-bulb or computer.

He also asked her again "Overall were you Super Impressed ?" and for the 2nd time in the same interview she pauses (as if she wants to say "God No, this thing is a joke") but once again she gives her yeeeeeahhhh right sure whatever response. The kinect at this point is also tracking your movement. You can literally be the commander in a strategy game. Not enough processing power? The headset has three processors if i remember correctly. Imagine physically placing your base on the couch while the enemy base is across the room in a fort you made. Imagine having power ups the charge after a while that let you physically stomp on the floor making a huge crater. Just use your heads people!!! Microsoft make this work!

Morpheus is VR (Virtual Reality) while Hololens is AR (Augmented Reality) I would like to buy both. I am a Sony And Microsoft fan. Before im done let me tell you what is the definition of AR and VR cause people dont understand. Augmented Reality a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user's view of the real world, thus providing a composite view. Virtual Reality the computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by a person using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet with a screen inside or gloves fitted with sensors.

The Sony Morpheus VR will be cool. The Occulus rift funded by facebook will be cool. The Microsoft AR hololens looks great as well. Google glass could be big as well over time. Apple, Microsoft, Google, Samsung, Sony, Facebook, Tesla, etc.. are placing us in the future right now and giving us toys and gadgets we could only dream of, and fanboys of specific companies spew crap on each other. I love how Microsoft fan boys are cheering their hearts out in the comment section since Microsoft has finally put out a product better than Sony's similar product for the first time in 10 years xD
    With that being said, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality are two completely different things so comparing the HoloLens to Morpheus doesn't make much sense. Infact, the Morpheus will probably be more successful gaming wise, as augmented reality is extremely limited at the moment, and creating a fully functional augmented reality game comparable to games created for virtual reality is impossible.
    Though augmented reality would be very good for mobile games.
    The could maybe implement higher-end gaming by making it to where you can project any games that you have bought with your Xbox Live account onto maybe a flat surface, or even the air in front of you. Though I don't think it is capable of doing so with it's current specs. But who knows.
    Can't wait to see what the HoloLens will bring in the future, I might get one myself depending on the price tag and demand for it.
