Lol. I have an 8 year old nephew and same. He used to love doing 'whatever' with us adults, but boy did that change around age 5 or 6. Suddenly he needed to be cajoled, bribed or downright threatened into going on walks or bike tours with us. He always ended up having fun, once we were out and about, mind you. But they definitely start testing boundaries around that age and everything that is not explicitly 'play' is suddenly 'stupid'. Little monsters 😅

My son goes to school in Switzerland now and he just casually mentioned to us that he accompanied one of his classmates to restock one of the hiking rest areas up the mountain. He showed us the photos and literally hiked up a mountain to restock cheese for the hikers and it took them the whole day. He said " oh it was just a short walk." Wow! Impressive!😅

In school we used to travel the whole day on foot from germany through czechia and back. Or most times through german woods to get to a massive theather hidden in the woods. It was awesome.

Prioritising health and outside time is a must for people in Europe, and especially Germans.

As an introvert, I spend most of my weekends on my balcony. We have a large compound garden and playground and all balconies face it but I rarely see my neighbours on their balconies because they are out walking or doing their Tagesausflug 😂😂 I enjoy the peace and quiet.
