- Took a bit of a break from MH but yesterday someone asked me to play Valor Switch Axe and it got me interested again. I remember Herny doing a Zinogre run a couple of years ago and I made it my goal to try to beat his time. This run could be even faster if I had crit eye +3 but sadly I don't have a good enough charm for it. Hope this makes up for me being lazy lately :D.

Coming back to this run for 20th time, here's hope we get something similar to double discharge in MH6, I'm a sucker for elemental discharges and ZSD completely threw it out of the window
I dunno if we will, next game being a non portable entry we might have to wait another game. Switch Axe was still pretty fun in Rise though!

Caolan Berg hammer i think can only stand a chance if it’s a small zinogre, otherwise can’t hit his head half the time. always refreshing seeing you make use of the sa though so i don’t mind 😎👍
Hunters Domain Oh that makes sense, I was struggling way too much to hit his head with the lvl 3 charge. I think I’m the only person who still plays Switch Axe in this game 🤣🤣

Zero V Thanks, I’m not the best but I try! Sometimes I do get lucky and runs work out like this one though 😊. I wish more people played this game so it was easier to find runs. I legit look up SA runs and all I see are mine 😔 lol

@@caolanberg3837 I don’t blame them for not using it tbh! It’s clunky and it’s not as fluent as it is in Iceborne.... and yet I still use the damn thing lmao!
@@Sunkhrist I actually prefer the slow clunky weapons. I know when to go for hits and when to back off. When I play the smoother faster ones I get too agressive and get hit too much 😂

Oh my goodness... What a wonderful show. I have an annoying time with good ol’ Zinny. Wouldn’t the Elderfrost SA do better? Zin’s weakness is Ice and the Elder has higher raw too
Wyatt Somers Elderfrost is stronger if you’re running absolute readiness (striker/alchemy) but it has bad sharpness so it won’t work for valor style/demon riot gimmick
Caolan Berg Ahh makes sense, so then try bludgeoner skill to add more damage when reaching green sharpness
Wyatt Somers Yeah that can work, I think Crystalbeard SA is better for bludgeoner. You lose the ice but you gain an extra skill from not having to invest in sharpness or razor sharp. I know Deaga used it in some of his runs a while back
Caolan Berg Yeah I saw that earlier this week. It impresses me. I’ve done a few attempts but I do not have the proper gear to do actual speedruns XD
I used to main the IG but now I’ve started to see the divine rite of SA lol.
Wyatt Somers It’s pretty great against some monsters like this one where you can spam the explosions, but I tried some deviants with it and it didn’t go well at all when you mess up and they one shot you 😂. Charm farming sucks big time, be prepared to farm the Brachy quest 100+ times. That’s all you can do really 😖

Damn, Valor SA looks kinda OP. Not as OP as LS or HBG ofc, but still, Demon Riot is insane. Anyway, brilliant run, that finish was orgasmic. lol
Thanks! Sorry for the late response. Valor SA can definitely compete with LS on the early G rank stuff, it’s sooo good vs anything that trips easily. Sadly it kinda falls off at endgame, I don’t think I’ve even seen a good valor EX run with demon riot

strife 12 Only tried it a little. It’s ok with valor or adept style I think but I don’t think it’s optimal against anything. It’s fun though if you don’t mind killing things a bit slower

Haha thanks. I wish I didn’t hit his tail so much tho, tail is less damage than back legs and breaking it wasn’t part of the plan. Actually have a better set now with crit eye+3 so maybe one day I’ll try this again

How do you do the explosion without the full windup??
I think you can do the regular discharge whenever with just X+A but to do the double explosion discharge you have to start with a double sword slash in valor mode. I haven’t played this in forever though can’t quite remember

Is valor the only way to solo the harder endgame monsters?
Not at all. I find valor more enjoyable and it’s faster for the weapons I play. I’ve watched stuff like Guild GS boltreaver, guild hammer silver wind/ deadeye ex runs that were pretty flawless. Valor is usually faster and easier to play for the bigger weapons though but any style other than maybe aerial is fine even for the harder stuff

how can I do 2 explosions?
Get to valor mode and do a double slash and then elemental discharge. To do a double slash you either have to dodge then press A, or valor sheathe and press A. Sorry for the late response

how the fuck do you do that double slash into discharge combo. I can't figure it out.
Get into valor mode, and you have to start the combo with a dash or a valor sheathe. It can’t be started from idle. Just A then X+A after starting with one of those
