Most definitely not my friend. Although Tri has it's flaws, it'll always have a special place in my heart. (Mainly because it was the game that started it all for me)
Noooo GU and 4U are soooo good. I'd love to see a remaster of them with overhauled graphics. Just high res textures and high poly meshes, the mechanics can stay the same. I got so used to adept CB that I cannot play it in MHW anymore bc I always try to adept block and dodge without any success XD
I started playing MH 4U last month and I thought the online was going to be dead but I was gladly mistaking even tho some high ranks player don't stay to help the low rank players lol

I started this game before I got rise. I got rise beat it, there's practically nothing left to do. And I've spent 20 more hours in mhgu than rise and I'm still not even sure if I'm close to beating gu this game is huge I love it.

Rise actually has 61 monsters wich is a really big number for a high rank game, base world only had 31. All these include all subcatagorys such as variants subspecies and deviants along with small monsters
@@homieyosh1342 EX Bloodbath is tough for sure, but I would give the title of hardest EX Deviant to EX Crystalbeard and hardest quest to Clashing Fists! or Descent into Hades. Those quests are hard in an unfun way.

Remember? I still actively play GU, I've dropped iceborne and am waiting for rise ultimate, so what do I do? Play GU again ofcoarse. I mean right now I been playing stories 2, but you can bet your butt I'm still this from time to time. Well to mitigate the confusion a little (I hope) when people like me say ultimate version, we mean that rise or any future mh game, gets an expansion (dlc and physical) that gives us G/Master rank. Iceborne is by all technicalities, monster hunter world ultimate. The reason we are saying Rise ultimate is because we don't know what it will be called, it's also why some of use refer to the next monster hunter as mh6 and not world 2. Hopefully this can help mitigate some of the confusion about that stuff in the future. Tldr: can't wait for the rise G/master rank expansion, and im calling it rise ultimate til we know an actual name. And yes, iceborne is world ultimate. Edit 2: heck now that I think of it, if I am remembering correctly. If you had gone to the store and saw a physical copy of iceborne, it said master edition on the box itself. Aka ultimate version.
i doubt rise is getting an 'ultimate' version considering NOTHING at ALL is aligned for it, ffs i feel bad for it, but, if anything it'll be a large content addition like iceborn. As MH4U and 3U were literal remakes and or English translations and double cross was simply just like the other two, remakes.

But I guess to keep it simple iceborne is the ultimate expansion all of us are talking about, 100% certain they will sell it as a dlc for those of us that already have it, and a separate game with both base game and the G rank update for those who don't have it yet. Or I guess master rank for those people who are currently only familiar with world. I mean I could go to the store and buy world then buy iceborne as a dlc or I can buy the physical copy of iceborne that also has base world in it. Point is when I say the rise ultimate expansion. I'm talking about the dlc that will add alot of new monsters, G/master rank, and hopefully a more complete endgame. GU was my first monster hunter game, honestly my favorite one since. I mainly miss the styles and hunter arts. They offered such a wide variety of play styles.
@@drftr6073 Yeah, once I reached the endgame for world I really missed the styles. In GU, if I got bored running valor gs I could go switch styles and weapons/armor. World isn't boring but I miss being able to switch my playing style on a whim

I played way less weapon types in previous games but gu felt fresh for hundreds of hours just with the switching of styles. i only played gs and charge blade for the longest time. gs styles are so good. aerial, valor, adept, striker all gave you a totally new weapon and it was so freaking fun to switch back and forth. i switched for ls and sns a few times but that was about it. In world, i played with everything except for the bowguns and hh and i have to say i was nowhere near as excited at any given point by the gameplay of my weapons.

Ah yes back when you flexed like a chad after healing and buffs, and your health restore was instant too so it was incredibly hard to waste it and the giga chad ways to dodge attacks and the styles are awesome too
Don't get me wrong, I love the movement options & the quality of life changes you get in Rise. But... I miss the variety in monsters. I miss the variety in playstyles. I miss theory crafting armor. I know there's so much limitation, but, man, I miss the charm of it. & I say that as a GL main who gets flying GL now.
I miss a ton of the skills. They may not have been meta in any way, but I am not someone who plays meta and I liked making some unique sets which could help me with a monster I found tough. Sadly I find Rise really restrictive in this manner, not to mention I only needed to craft one low rank armor set for the entire village quest line, as it was so easy, which is pretty sad. I cant wait for RiseU though and hope it can fix my issues.
can you imagine what the next "generations" style game will be like if they ever do another one though? where they give G rank and all the variety possible PLUS quality of life stuff? GU is still my most played. I mainly dislike the way they kinda sorta added the deviants but not really. you get some of the cool stuff from the fight, but no gear, not even layered. Maybe in G rank
@@AceofSpades280 I really hate the deviants tbh. They are literally their own monster and to this day Dreadqueen and Cristalbeard are the ones that annoys me the most. And don't worry about rise, they are likely working on monster models(aka mostly leviathans) since alot of them couldn't adapt that well to world. Mizutsune is back so Lagiacrus fans could atleast dream their man will be back too.

Maybe not. As far as I know Capcom is very loyal to their old old playerbase so likely they will drop titles like the old format from time to time just hoping they also drop some of those to the west too since most of them will likely stay in Japan.

Best thing about monster hunter is that you’ll always find others playing every version of the game, from the first to the recent. But as of right now, most of the active servers are 4U-GU (I’m still certain 3U is still somewhat lively)

I don't think this juggernaut of a game can be forgotten this soon. This is still the best one content-wise. Iceborne came close, but the classic MH gameplay remains undefeated. Part of what makes classic MH so unique is its gameplay limitations, and MHGU has the most polished version of that gameplay. Also, EX Deviant hunts make for perhaps the most satisfying endgame to complete. Having that crown next to your name really sets you apart. The overall sense of progression in this game is just great.
Yeah. Energy blade seems to be a standard special attack for the charge blade. Especially considering that many special attacks were translated from GU to Rise in a wire bug form, perhaps some form of wire blade could be implemented.
If not mistaken. Capcom still have more wirebug move for the weapon. Maybe they will add more gu hunter arts in g/master rank expansion. Just hoping tho. Great channel. Subs for more content 👍

This was my first monster hunter game, definitely was a hell of a learning curve. I dropped it after 250 hours due to school reasons and I ended up getting Rise a few years later and played that instead. Came back to this after convincing a friend to pick it up too and its fun as hell. Aerial style rules and Insect Glaive is fun as hell. Might even learn Greatsword if I'm patient enough.
Always nice to see that, especially MH4U and MHGU are SO much better than the latest adaptations of the game... the 4th gen was just a perfect balance between movement in MH style and fast gameplay, World and Rise just dont feel like MH anymore
I remember every minute of my over 1700 hours in that game, I still love it... always will. I'm only at 1000 hours in Rise, so still a ways to go to hit 999. Thanks for this excellent video, made my day.
My first Monster Hunter... After just around a year and a half, I finished the Deviants hunts and I'm still playing the thing. From the large variety of weapons to how many there is to do in it. This game's a true masterpiece.
GU was the perfect way to end the old world,as mhwi was the perfect way to end "the new world" and frontier z-zenith the best way to end frontier generations

I love mhgu. I think it’s my most played my game ever. Even though I don’t think the hit boxes are quite as polished as mh4u, the hunter styles bring so much diversity to every weapon that there’s always SOMETHING new to try if you’re ever curious about learning it, even hundreds of hours in.
Overshadowed completely by worlds but still one of the greatest monster hunter games. Edit: I’m still on this game in the online lobbies. I actually prefer old gen to rise. Not a fan of the insane power creep that game has (not that this one doesn’t it’s just not nearly as much)

I played world some years ago, finished and never touched it again, but tried GU on my 10 years old 3ds just to do some quests, and suddenly, I spent all the day playing, just magic
GU is something i always come back to. Its just got that amazing feel that seems to be lacking from world and especially from rise. The new mobility from rise was nice but it came at such a cost to the overall feel the game had. Plus prowler will always be a blast and i wish it stuck around because despite how strange it was i always enjoy it. Its such a different feel to the hunters themselves
As someone who's played 3 and 4 ultimate as well as rise, this game honestly scares me. The lack of telegraphing and the absolute necessity of that strange blue dodge lets me know that every monster is gonna fry all the muscle memory from my brain. One day I will buy and play this game on the switch
Gu is old mh through and through so I play it to chill on expeditions, really brings back the relaxing foraging side to mh that I feel is lacking in world. All in all I play gu for all the tough monsters then I play world for immersion even though I like gu expeditions more

going back to older MH games after rise feels like the combat and movement are slow 😂.. played hub in mhgu while waiting for rise 4.0 to come, i had to relearn the controls, and i always do the wirefall buttons 😅
What the hell? This is what monster hunter was like back in the day??? I'm playing World right now (it's my first monhun) and it looks nothing like this. Don't get me wrong it's still an awesome game but dude the crazy armor and weapons, the effects, the special moves. They like...just downgraded all of that. I'm buying this NOW
this is just one game before world so not realy from "back in the day" but yes the older ones look pretty similar. also its one of my favorite games ever but be warned its not very beginner friendly
While games like world and rise have brought a lot of fun new mechanics and made a lot of QoL improvements... I still sometimes miss little things like throwing paintballs at monsters, or the old monster's AI. Even outdated things like loading zones, or only having 10 mega potions for a hunt or heck, even cold and hot drinks, sometimes I miss it. Not to say the new is bad, but one can really feel the difference. What I ESPECIALLY miss, is the post-hunt goofing around... :')
I like Gen ult is because 1 weapon can have 4 play styles which gives variety to the gameplay, let's say there's 4 of you but all of you have the same weapon each one of you can have different roles even with the same weapons with different move sets and hunter arts

I really love the upgrade system in mhgu, I dont know of it appears in the other games but I like how you can keep the same weapon but level up while keeping th same look. Cause as much as I love MHW and MHR, I dont like the fact my weapons design changes. I like my goofy ass bagpipe HH
Yeah. I like the basic look of the iron series and it's nice to level up the look of those weapons to G-rank besides also being able to branch off to new weapons.

Rise has no content. I've already reached the beat gear for my play style. I'm pretty much helping new players or trying to see if there is a better talisman for me. Generations Ultamate is at least a compete game.
Dude Rise is literally what base World is to Iceborne. Comparing any mh game (specially to the new ones) to GU is literally a W for GU since GU, being the expansion of 4U with the g-rank, different playstyles, and if I not mistaken is an anniversary game of course have alot of content. Rise have more monster than base World have so the Rise expansion will likely have more than Iceborne.
There a lot of mechanics I'm not a fan of in GU compared to World and Rise but it is by far my favorite for the sheer amount of content there is. The true end game in monster hunter is fashion but it seems like the newer titles have less and less armor and they pick the worst versions of armors or don't offer alternate options like MHGU did which is sad. There's only one thing that would make GU truly a perfect game and it would be weapon transmog. So many cool weapon designs I feel gone to waste if you want the most out of a build

GU is still my most played. I mainly dislike the way they kinda sorta added the deviants but not really. you get some of the cool stuff from the fight, but no gear, not even layered. Maybe in G rank

@@AceofSpades280 I really hate the deviants tbh. They are literally their own monster and to this day Dreadqueen and Cristalbeard are the ones that annoys me the most. And don't worry about rise, they are likely working on monster models(aka mostly leviathans) since alot of them couldn't adapt that well to world. Mizutsune is back so Lagiacrus fans could atleast dream their man will be back too.

Maybe not. As far as I know Capcom is very loyal to their old old playerbase so likely they will drop titles like the old format from time to time just hoping they also drop some of those to the west too since most of them will likely stay in Japan.
@@enrithomas7194 they wont. there's no point in going back in outdated mechanics. I guarantee they will stick with the new format because they want the games to be as accessible as possible to new players. That's why World was the game that took off.

Best thing about monster hunter is that you’ll always find others playing every version of the game, from the first to the recent. But as of right now, most of the active servers are 4U-GU (I’m still certain 3U is still somewhat lively)

I don't think this juggernaut of a game can be forgotten this soon. This is still the best one content-wise. Iceborne came close, but the classic MH gameplay remains undefeated. Part of what makes classic MH so unique is its gameplay limitations, and MHGU has the most polished version of that gameplay. Also, EX Deviant hunts make for perhaps the most satisfying endgame to complete. Having that crown next to your name really sets you apart. The overall sense of progression in this game is just great.

Yeah. Energy blade seems to be a standard special attack for the charge blade. Especially considering that many special attacks were translated from GU to Rise in a wire bug form, perhaps some form of wire blade could be implemented.
It might happen like how the blast dash work for gunlance this might do too

This was my first monster hunter game, definitely was a hell of a learning curve. I dropped it after 250 hours due to school reasons and I ended up getting Rise a few years later and played that instead. Came back to this after convincing a friend to pick it up too and its fun as hell. Aerial style rules and Insect Glaive is fun as hell. Might even learn Greatsword if I'm patient enough.
Always nice to see that, especially MH4U and MHGU are SO much better than the latest adaptations of the game... the 4th gen was just a perfect balance between movement in MH style and fast gameplay, World and Rise just dont feel like MH anymore
I remember every minute of my over 1700 hours in that game, I still love it... always will. I'm only at 1000 hours in Rise, so still a ways to go to hit 999. Thanks for this excellent video, made my day.

After just around a year and a half, I finished the Deviants hunts and I'm still playing the thing.
From the large variety of weapons to how many there is to do in it.

I love mhgu. I think it’s my most played my game ever. Even though I don’t think the hit boxes are quite as polished as mh4u, the hunter styles bring so much diversity to every weapon that there’s always SOMETHING new to try if you’re ever curious about learning it, even hundreds of hours in.

De verdad, no puedo describir lo hermoso que fue GU en mi vida, ese recuerdo de Farmear toda la rathian maldita para hacerme su armadura, o farmeando me el nargacuga argenteo que fue una tarea super difícil y tediosa pero cuando pude tener todos los materiales para mejorar al máximo la ballesta ligera del argenteo se sintió tan satisfactorio

I played world some years ago, finished and never touched it again, but tried GU on my 10 years old 3ds just to do some quests, and suddenly, I spent all the day playing, just magic
GU is something i always come back to. Its just got that amazing feel that seems to be lacking from world and especially from rise. The new mobility from rise was nice but it came at such a cost to the overall feel the game had. Plus prowler will always be a blast and i wish it stuck around because despite how strange it was i always enjoy it. Its such a different feel to the hunters themselves
As someone who's played 3 and 4 ultimate as well as rise, this game honestly scares me. The lack of telegraphing and the absolute necessity of that strange blue dodge lets me know that every monster is gonna fry all the muscle memory from my brain. One day I will buy and play this game on the switch

Gu is old mh through and through so I play it to chill on expeditions, really brings back the relaxing foraging side to mh that I feel is lacking in world. All in all I play gu for all the tough monsters then I play world for immersion even though I like gu expeditions more

What the hell? This is what monster hunter was like back in the day??? I'm playing World right now (it's my first monhun) and it looks nothing like this. Don't get me wrong it's still an awesome game but dude the crazy armor and weapons, the effects, the special moves. They like...just downgraded all of that. I'm buying this NOW
this is just one game before world so not realy from "back in the day" but yes the older ones look pretty similar. also its one of my favorite games ever but be warned its not very beginner friendly
Honestly, even though GU is by far my least favourite game in the serries, theres still a lot to love about it
While games like world and rise have brought a lot of fun new mechanics and made a lot of QoL improvements... I still sometimes miss little things like throwing paintballs at monsters, or the old monster's AI.
Even outdated things like loading zones, or only having 10 mega potions for a hunt or heck, even cold and hot drinks, sometimes I miss it. Not to say the new is bad, but one can really feel the difference.
What I ESPECIALLY miss, is the post-hunt goofing around...

I like Gen ult is because 1 weapon can have 4 play styles which gives variety to the gameplay, let's say there's 4 of you but all of you have the same weapon each one of you can have different roles even with the same weapons with different move sets and hunter arts

Yeah. I like the basic look of the iron series and it's nice to level up the look of those weapons to G-rank besides also being able to branch off to new weapons.

Rise has no content. I've already reached the beat gear for my play style. I'm pretty much helping new players or trying to see if there is a better talisman for me. Generations Ultamate is at least a compete game.
Dude Rise is literally what base World is to Iceborne. Comparing any mh game (specially to the new ones) to GU is literally a W for GU since GU, being the expansion of 4U with the g-rank, different playstyles, and if I not mistaken is an anniversary game of course have alot of content. Rise have more monster than base World have so the Rise expansion will likely have more than Iceborne.

God I fucking love Monster Hunter.
There a lot of mechanics I'm not a fan of in GU compared to World and Rise but it is by far my favorite for the sheer amount of content there is. The true end game in monster hunter is fashion but it seems like the newer titles have less and less armor and they pick the worst versions of armors or don't offer alternate options like MHGU did which is sad. There's only one thing that would make GU truly a perfect game and it would be weapon transmog. So many cool weapon designs I feel gone to waste if you want the most out of a build
