    Things aren't quite as easy as they used to be at the moment. Lugging around this big ass leg that can't move by itself is challenging, yet it is a challenge that I enjoy. Here, you will see what it takes to move 10 feet after having my knee cleaned out.

    I had my knee reconstructed, all my ligaments repaired and this is was almost 3 years ago in Feb. All I can say is stay in PT for as long as you can! I still I'm just starting to feel normal and even then I still can run on it w/o getting pain. Do as much as you can to strengthen your joints...

    I fractured my patella from a fall on October 1,2019. I have a brace like yours and I hate wearing it but since I still can’t bend my knee for at least another 4 weeks it’s a necessary evil as long as I’m walking I have to wear it. Today the 22 staples came out. Physical therapy will be after I start to bend my knee but not by much. Long story short...this will be my life through January 2020!!

      Im 19 years old 1,5 years ago I had a direct blow in my knee . Due to the bad decision of my doctor like I had only an x-ray and no mri He misdiagnosed . Actually my patellar tendon almost tear And I had to have surgery but i didn't . The MRI I did 8 months later says that my tendon is okay but even now I can't walk for a long distance, i can't go up and down the stairs without pain I can't even straighten my leg when im sitting. ? Is there a chance that I can get my strength in my tendon? Now its too late for surgery,maybe a tendon graft its good idea?

    I’ve dislocated knee knee so many times it became normal and I knew how to pop it back in during football games but now the pain is so constant after working with doctors and physio and massage therapy and strength and conditioning it hasn’t gotten better if anything it’s gotten worse, I’m 15 years old soon to be 16 and this pain is just daily and I told my mom I want some sort of surgery to correct it because of how tired I am of missing football and basketball with unsuspecting injury’s. Surgery is now being talked about and I’m soon to meet with a orthopaedic surgeon to talk about my options and the recovery.

    Hi Kyle......I have just had my patella rupture surgery (sutured, then a single wire and screw method) a week ago. As I look at videos of people’s recovery, I see that especially in the US they are using underarm crutches instead of forearm crutches. In my recovery here in the Netherlands I am using forearm crutches and I find them superior to underarm ones....Actually, I haven’t seen underarm crutches in Europe since the 90s.

    Ya, gonna be hard to move at first, but after reading my operation report recently, they had it bent 90 degrees on the operating table. It can bend, just got to get that first break through, the sooner the better. Swelling will last a long time, massage the tendon on the back of the knee to get that fluid moving, scar tissue swelling will last a very long time, but its not a terrible thing. Keep your head up.

    Hi Scotty, it won't come back right away. I would start isometrically contracting all the time though, getting that neuromuscular connection to fire again. I got guys at my gym that have ruptured muscles or tendons before and they come to me 3-4 years later with lagging body parts, but my theory is that the neuromuscular connection was never ramped up all the way again and the fascia constricts that muscle bellies...

    That sucks, but keep it open while you are laying around or better yet keep it off. No reason to suffer if you aren't moving around. Think about getting one off of amazon or something too. how many weeks out are you? once i hit 7 weeks the brace was no more anyway...

    Hey, I know this is quite an old video but I'm on day 12 after knee surgery. I had surgery on the dislocation of my patella, meniscal repair, a small fracture and a previous injury (Osgood schlatter knee syndrome) in my right knee. I'm walking pretty good these days with crutches, but I was just wondering what should I do if my other knee that didn't have surgery starts getting sore?

    • @thepandamanofficial
      @thepandamanofficial  Před 6 lety +1

      Hey, glad to hear you are recovering well! When is it getting sore? It's common to have injury in the other knee because of compensation. What this means is you have to focus on single legged strength and making sure your movement patterns are back to normal...

    • @purplepenguin3399
      @purplepenguin3399 Před 6 lety

      Kyle Newell Hey, thanks for the reply it's usually getting sore in the afternoon yesterday I went back to school for the first time and by the time I came home from school it was kind of tense so I rested it. I'm going to start exercises for my knee that is sore and didn't have surgery so it can get back into a normal routine. Thanks for the help!

    Thank you so much for this! I do the exact same thing but with a sarong lol no one understands the fact that the brace being on the bed is a hassle and makes a huuuuge difference. Did you ever put pressure on the injured leg when mobilising?

    I had a complete rupture last October. Was in plaster first 2 weeks then splint for 6 weeks. Am now 6 months post op and have full flexibility but still weak knee. Stairs still a concern. Cant walk down a stairs with good leg first as bad knee buckles.
    How long was it before you were back to normal??

      @thepandamanofficial  Před 9 lety +3

      Hi Carl, it took me to about the 18 month mark until i felt 'normal' But realize that it will never be 100% normal again, it will be different. Depends on how much work you want to put in...

    you said this is six days after surgery and you cant bend your leg? i had the same thing done this past Monday and my doctor told me to start moving it. (just the smallest bit nothing major) were you doing similar things? im so scared moving it this early will mess things up... most of the time it was straight but occasionally i will bend it or sleep without the brace and itll be over a pillow and slightly bent.

    • @thepandamanofficial
      @thepandamanofficial  Před 7 lety +2

      Hi Piper, gentle bending until you get the staples out, then move it consistently every day. The first time I had it done i waited way too long, the second time I started bending much earlier. It will not tear from movement, it will feel very tight but don't let that hold you back:)
