Things aren't quite as easy as they used to be at the moment. Lugging around this big ass leg that can't move by itself is challenging, yet it is a challenge that I enjoy. Here, you will see what it takes to move 10 feet after having my knee cleaned out. - Sport
Very helpful man I'm about 15 days post surgery now but your videos are uplifting cuz this is an overwhelming ordeal for us lifters and active individuals
I had my knee reconstructed, all my ligaments repaired and this is was almost 3 years ago in Feb. All I can say is stay in PT for as long as you can! I still I'm just starting to feel normal and even then I still can run on it w/o getting pain. Do as much as you can to strengthen your joints...
This is very helpful. I just broke my knee from a motorcycle accident and had surgery. God bless you man!!
Hey man I just found you video and I had what’s possibly one of the worst knee injuries to get as I completely tore my patellar tendon my acl and the left side of my meniscus
With a blood clot to make things worse
I’m at the hospital now and I’m feeling better day by day
Can’t sleep because of the anxiety but this videos help a lot
So god bless you man and glad you came along way 👍💯🙌
@@raphael333207 hey bud! Hang in there, it’ll be a blessing. Think about getting my book in it, it’s got everything you’ll need in there and I even include a phone call. Silver linings to it this for sure🐼💪

I’m going to check it out for sure thank you man. I appreciate it. 💪🏼
I fractured my patella from a fall on October 1,2019. I have a brace like yours and I hate wearing it but since I still can’t bend my knee for at least another 4 weeks it’s a necessary evil as long as I’m walking I have to wear it. Today the 22 staples came out. Physical therapy will be after I start to bend my knee but not by much. Long story short...this will be my life through January 2020!!
How did it go? I just fractured my patella last week and having surgery in a few days
How u now
Im 19 years old 1,5 years ago I had a direct blow in my knee . Due to the bad decision of my doctor like I had only an x-ray and no mri He misdiagnosed . Actually my patellar tendon almost tear And I had to have surgery but i didn't . The MRI I did 8 months later says that my tendon is okay but even now I can't walk for a long distance, i can't go up and down the stairs without pain I can't even straighten my leg when im sitting. ? Is there a chance that I can get my strength in my tendon? Now its too late for surgery, maybe a tendon graft its good idea?
Dude its been 3 weeks now and ive def used that technique many times! The rehab is key, every time I go in im tryna push myself to the next level. Good luck on your road to recovery!
Great video bro. I just had my surgery 6 days ago also. Just watching and hearing your words of motivation has helped me tremendously! Wish you a speedy recovery. God bless.
I just got this surgery and this video helped me so much! Thank you!
Yea man, I ruptured mine back in May had the surgery a few days later. Ive been committed to the rehab and set on getting my knee stronger than ever. Seeing this definitely was that positive kick to keep moving forward. When you get a chance, be sure to post another one of your progress!
Thank you so much for this insight, i recently had surgery today actually for my tendon, and i watch and learn as much as i can to deal with the mobility issues, and the pain and your information has helped so much from the bottom of my heart Thank you for posting your struggles and progression, mine will also be similar to yours thank you once again.
That's great man... Glad that your focus and I'm glad you have a motivating doc. Best of luck... Keep up the updates bro
Thank you for posting videos like this you have helped me by sharing your story, I'm at day 11 get my staples out today keep up the good work
Your videos are great. I ruptured my right knee patellar tendon 3 days ago and go in for surgery in 4 days. I liked your trick with the bands for lifting your leg. I have felt like I can't even go to the bathroom on my own because I need someone to hold my leg. I must get some of these ASAP. And a compression sock...good idea. Keep up the good work!
i go into surgery feb.28...I tore mine totally. i found this video very helpful. Can't wait to go through your other videos. thanks for your insight!
I broke my femur and tore ligaments in my knee, and dislocated my knee from my shin bone. I have a brace sorta like yours up my whole leg! This video was really helpful.
Glad you liked it! Let me know if i can help anymore-Kyle
Kyle Newell hey. Thanks so much for your. I watched this a few weeks ago and got a lot of good ideas and tips from you. I saved it and didn't think too much of it but now that I'm homevfresh off an patella graft ACL reconstruction I have called upon your tactics 100%. I knew I saved it for a reason and why it stood out. I'm using my cane right now instead if pt bands, sane idea. So thanks man. I hope you are recovering well and stronger everyday. So starts my journey.

I'm in my fifth week post op and your video has been very helpful you give me hope.
I had MPFL reconstruction surgery in late October, didnt go so well... ended up with clots in my leg and lung... On the road to recovery now - though its hard on body and mind. Good vid fella - thanks
Thank for the video. I tore mine July 3rd and had surgery July 4th. It has been rough but after watching video I'm inspired to pull through this, thanks again
Whatttt I've been waiting 4 weeks for my MRI and they keep telling me I might have something torne
I just came out of acl reconstruction surgery this morning performed from the fowler Kennedy clinic univesity hospital .already started to walk with little assistance from my crutches. Everyone heals and deals with pain different . Just power throug it keep positive and ice as much as you can . Oh and it was a hamstring graft .
I’m at three months and watching this is excruciating. Thanks for the reminder of how far I’ve come 😉
Hang in there! Keep me posted and you're welcome!
hey bro, good video. i'm 5 weeks post-op and had exactly the same system just to get my ass out of bed or off the couch. i'll never take forgranted the ease of standing up or walking again, that's for sure...originally, my doc said i'd be in my immobilzer for about 4-6 weeks but after my follow up appt about a week after surgery, he said it would be more like 6-8 weeks with the immobilzer and then hopefully start PT. i'm trying to keep a positive attitude about this and get back to the gym asap!
Nice video. I had my ACL reconstructed and meniscus repaired 6 days ago. I'm a firefighter, nervous about making it back to full duty.
you are making great progress! i got to 95 degrees this past week on my stomach, hurt like a mother tho, lol. I just talked to Louie Simmons today and he told me to start doing box squats as it will give me back my ROM, I will test them out with the flex bands today...
Thank you for posting. The video helped a lot. I broke my patella in half and tore the ligaments too end of January. Just had surgery 2/4/16. Gives me hope.
+Kelly Cribb Hi Kelly, you are welcome, please let me know if you ever need to talk about it, here to help!
Hey Kyle did you find the compression sleeve helped?
How u now
I’ve dislocated knee knee so many times it became normal and I knew how to pop it back in during football games but now the pain is so constant after working with doctors and physio and massage therapy and strength and conditioning it hasn’t gotten better if anything it’s gotten worse, I’m 15 years old soon to be 16 and this pain is just daily and I told my mom I want some sort of surgery to correct it because of how tired I am of missing football and basketball with unsuspecting injury’s. Surgery is now being talked about and I’m soon to meet with a orthopaedic surgeon to talk about my options and the recovery.
I ruptured mine 6 weeks ago. Surgery immediately next day... Recovering good, but missing my lifts... Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate if somebody can tell about some adaptations for presses or lifts without knee movements like Abs, benches, presses, rises... Respecting PT of course.
I had a patellar tendon rupture on my left knee last feb 10, 2012. I had undergone surgery and it takes 4 months before I start bending my knee. Presently I am walking normal. I've been working-out my left leg to normalize my muscles that have been gone.
That is great that it has helped you! Hang in there and let me know if you need any words of support! It'll get better, Im all good now....
I admire what your doing . I had patella surgery n I'm allergic to codeine so I couldn't an be meds boy oh boy was I in pain. I just dealt with it and took Lyrica for fibromyalagia which I have,it's the only thing. The pain is serious
Going under the knife this Friday for a fractured knee. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Kyle......I have just had my patella rupture surgery (sutured, then a single wire and screw method) a week ago. As I look at videos of people’s recovery, I see that especially in the US they are using underarm crutches instead of forearm crutches. In my recovery here in the Netherlands I am using forearm crutches and I find them superior to underarm ones....Actually, I haven’t seen underarm crutches in Europe since the 90s.
One of the guys at my gym had micro fracture, that will be the least of your worries. I had severe pain on the court when it happened because of all the soft tissue damage. Keep me posted!
Thank you for sharing this. I ruptured my patellar tendon approx 5 years ago and since have ended up with a knee replacement. 6 surgeries later... Patellar tendon surgery has to be the most painful surgery and recovery I have been through by far.

Hey, your videos were truly helpful to me. I'm 6 days post ACL repair. I didn't know what to do with myself, my leg felt like a bag of sand, but the idea with the resistance band was totally helpful to me, I wish someone would have showed me sooner.
Hey, I am glad it helped you! Keep moving forward and let me know if I can help in any other way!
Thanks for video, I pop my right knee in 2006, worst pain ever, thought I would never be right again. Here I am again today, popped my left patella...Any advise on constipation, thanks in advance.
Hey Darin! Yes, get off the pain meds, that will lead to constipation. Get moving too, the body has to move for the bowels to work correctly. Sorry to hear about the left knee, but you will make it through. I am here to help however you need...
I have to get this surgery tomorrow and this helped so much. Thank you
+Blurry Face you are welcome! how did it go?
+Kyle Newell it went well
Hi Kyle, thanks for the tips! I hope your recovery is going well! I have completely torn my medial ligament and dislocated my knee several times through the same sporting injury and am having the MPFL reconstruction surgery done next month. Was just wondering how long the recovery time has been for you to get back to similar knee flexibility and strength? Also, how bad was the post op pain?
Thank you for making this video
just had mine done march 27th, left knee too, figured out all these tips on my own the hard way, wish i would had seen this first lol
I'm having surgery in my left knee for a torn ligament (They are replacing the ligament, repeated knee diclcation (They grind the bottom of the kneecap until it's Smooth), and they are moving my main tendon in my knee over about an inch. Then after I heal from that I need the same thing in the other knee.
Thanks Juice! Got the staples out yesterday! Can now do self-massage and quad flexing, whats left of it, lol. I told the Doc about my goal to compete in a year and he said, 'Go for it'! I'll keep 'em coming..

Thanks for tips! My wife found this video and it has helped me so much. I am going into my 6 week after surgery! Any tips on PT?
Doctors might know theory job.... But they don't know YOU! good stuff man, glad you got that positive attitude.
Ya, gonna be hard to move at first, but after reading my operation report recently, they had it bent 90 degrees on the operating table. It can bend, just got to get that first break through, the sooner the better. Swelling will last a long time, massage the tendon on the back of the knee to get that fluid moving, scar tissue swelling will last a very long time, but its not a terrible thing. Keep your head up.
Wishing you a full recovery. How are you now?
It was my right leg tendon ruptured completely right off the patella I'm in a place where I'm staying positive your videos helping a lot thanks
Thank you... I'm going thru the same thing now..
Wow - this is encouraging Kyle. I just had a patellar tendon completely rupture 8 days ago, had the reconstructive surgery 5 days ago and now at home waiting for the OS to take out the sutures etc in another 10 days.. same brace, same left knee. I hope I can make it to walking in the projected 10 weeks - your videos have given me some hope! How much "physio" did you do before the scheduled PT sessions? I'm unsure how much weight i should put on the leg even with crutches..
Hey I'm right with you bill I had surgery for the patellar tendon tear today
Popped my lower tendon 2 days ago and have surgery this coming Thursday. You mention advice from your friend about faster recovery but didn’t elaborate. Is there another video on that? I sure as heck want to be mobile as fast as possible.
You are so lucky youre brace, is very open i have a knee imobilizer, and it sucks it covers almost 75% of the leg, and its extremeley hot! my shin is severe pain i dont know if that is normal, and the stitches i have not had removed yet, I was not told where they are So i have no idea all i know is that is it scrapping against the brace as i get up and down its a terrible feeling and im extremely cranky and agravated at this moment. and in alot of pain due to the healing of the stitches
I’m a little late but I just ruptured mine a week ago and needed this motivation!
all good, when is surgery? let me know if you need some help or whatever, you're gonna do great!
I had the same knee surgery and August now it's november and I'm slowly getting back into skateboarding
God Speed, hope you get well.
This is very helpful because I have to have knee surgery I'm Just what to get it over with
Hey I just tore my patella tendon I go for surgery on Thursday man I'm scared just thinking about the long road ahead I've been reading all your videos so I'm feeling alittle better
ya you got a while, but it will go fast at the same time. if you have stim available, use that constantly!
Man thats the video I m looking for :).
Today is my 6 th day and i exacly the same situationthat you were.
What i m wondering is did you do any exercises, movements etc. For rehab? When your eehab protocol started. I have been trying to do some leg lift but its really painful and stoped doing it. I m just concerning that do i have to endure the pain and keep doing leglifts? Thanx for answer and appreciate the video
Very very helpful...thanks very much 👏🏼 👌🏾 👍🏾
Hi Rasheed, how'd you do it? Brutal injury but I am sure you are game for it, let me know if I can help you in anyway, stay positive!
Hi Scotty, it won't come back right away. I would start isometrically contracting all the time though, getting that neuromuscular connection to fire again. I got guys at my gym that have ruptured muscles or tendons before and they come to me 3-4 years later with lagging body parts, but my theory is that the neuromuscular connection was never ramped up all the way again and the fascia constricts that muscle bellies...
I had my knee tendon repair last last 4 week. Doc advised me to wait up to wait 6 weeks then I can go physiotherapy. The problem that I'm facing now is the stiffness of the knee. What should I do now?
I am 7 days in waiting for my follow-up until I can start trying to do any range of motion or exercises per the Dr. But once I get started my goal is to get b ack to normal activities ASAP. I am shooting for 3-4 months.
You are going to get back! What is the first activity you are looking forward to resuming most?
Feel better man
Hom much time to fully recover again
Wow, great job! How'd you do it? Hows it feeling now?
Have any of you had screws put in knee or anywhere else in body for joint repair . I had patellar reconstruction on my right knee in 2011 and it usually give no problems. Early this morning with the cold and everything I notice the area where the screws are or middle of knee had this achy weird feeling that's slightly painful. Could this be due to the cold weather? Ben gay didn't do much but eventually I was able to fall back asleep . Any comments welcome
How long till you were out of the immobilizer casting setup and able to bend your knee? Just had mine done and steel cables are holding the patella together. 13 days out and this cast setup is a nightmare
I just found out about a week ago that I have a significant partial tear (80%) of the paterllar tendon. I am going in for surgery in 2 weeks. If you have any tips you can give me for 1. between now and the surgery, and 2. after the surgery I would really appreciate it. It is definitely a painful experience. I play College basketball and I am 7' 275 pounds so I am very worried about the rehab and how this will affect my career.
I just had this surgery last week, and I'm trying not to freak out. I know it's mind over matter, but for the first week I have not moved off of this couch in fear of pain. It wasn't until last night i started moving and tried to stand up on crutches that my left leg (my good one) almost gave out and my arms locked out and started spasming. HOW DO YOU GET THROUGH THIS!!? I literally don't know what or how to do this mentally or physically.
hey kyle how are you now I had this surgery about 5 days ago and I've been in the usmc for about 9 years and they said it might be the end what can I do to stop this pain and stiffness I do have a dressing over my leg and I'm about to see the doc tomorrow for a follow up but what can I do
The pain is crazy I received acl reconstruction meniscus repair and arthritis removal I'm on day 4 and the pain is still pretty nasty sleeping is horrible
Hope you got better man
Hi Ramon, how'd it go? Please keep me posted and let me know if you need any words of encouragement. Keep your head up-Kyle
great video
Thanks. I have surgery Wednesday. Im so nervous cause all I hear is horror stories. Terrible amount of paint entire first week is what people telling me. Gone make you cry what they say lol
Hey, good luck tomorrow. You will be fine, it will make you stronger both physically and mentally. Let me know how it goes and if. you need some words of encouragement just let me know!
@@thepandamanofficial thanks
Just had my surgery last week. Im already walking. I had to have a complete donor graph which allowed me to do cpm everyday.
yes sir I did both legs and it was all in the mind that I couldn't make it I'm still layed up but I'm walking.
I broke my femur and had 3 emergency surgeries on it , along with four other surgeries on my ears and throat. then after I recovered from my femur break I dislocated my knee on the other leg i soon recovered then three months later I dislocated it again and now I have to get surgery on my knee 😕 I just turned 12 and this Will be my 8th surgery
God bless you 🙌💪🏼
first week today i got along way to go but the pain is subsiding or im used to it now not taking so much meds.
Hows it going now? Just make sure to slide to the end of the bed. My normal bed is much higher too, this was a make shift arrangement in my living room-Kyle
How many weeks of your full recovery after your operation from your fracture knee cap hope you answer me thanks 😃
Bro good job I’m only 12 and about 4 months ago I broke my patella in half dislocated it and broke a tendon I know how hard it is we’ll done!
thanks buddy, let me know how i can help, keep up. the good work!
thanks!
That sucks, but keep it open while you are laying around or better yet keep it off. No reason to suffer if you aren't moving around. Think about getting one off of amazon or something too. how many weeks out are you? once i hit 7 weeks the brace was no more anyway...
lol I did the exact same thing with the band to get my self around. Are you 100% recovered now?
hey i ruptured my patella tendon 4 weeks ago in madrid, had my op 3 weeks ago back in UK, they taken off the leg cast last week and put me in brace set at 0-30, i can't move it that much at all yet but hope i will.. has anyone had the same problem? also my knee is still swollen.. is that normal and will i move my knee soon...
Hey, I know this is quite an old video but I'm on day 12 after knee surgery. I had surgery on the dislocation of my patella, meniscal repair, a small fracture and a previous injury (Osgood schlatter knee syndrome) in my right knee. I'm walking pretty good these days with crutches, but I was just wondering what should I do if my other knee that didn't have surgery starts getting sore?
Hey, glad to hear you are recovering well! When is it getting sore? It's common to have injury in the other knee because of compensation. What this means is you have to focus on single legged strength and making sure your movement patterns are back to normal...
Kyle Newell Hey, thanks for the reply it's usually getting sore in the afternoon yesterday I went back to school for the first time and by the time I came home from school it was kind of tense so I rested it. I'm going to start exercises for my knee that is sore and didn't have surgery so it can get back into a normal routine. Thanks for the help!
Ya, you will get through it though. The pain will subside, get it moving
how many months you recover after surgery ?thank you please reply,,GOd Bless you
Cool, that seems a bit quick if you completely tore it, just be careful.
Thank you so much for this! I do the exact same thing but with a sarong lol no one understands the fact that the brace being on the bed is a hassle and makes a huuuuge difference. Did you ever put pressure on the injured leg when mobilising?
Hello
I had a complete rupture last October. Was in plaster first 2 weeks then splint for 6 weeks. Am now 6 months post op and have full flexibility but still weak knee. Stairs still a concern. Cant walk down a stairs with good leg first as bad knee buckles.
How long was it before you were back to normal??
Hi Carl, it took me to about the 18 month mark until i felt 'normal' But realize that it will never be 100% normal again, it will be different. Depends on how much work you want to put in...
Omg never will be normal again 😭
you remove wire from your pattalla?
I'm 12 and I ripped my tendent in my knee and tomorrow I find out if I need surgery it hurts so bad! Can you participate in sports after the surgery??
Hey wolf, you'll come back just fine. Let me know if i can help and keep me posted-Kyle
Hows it feeling now?
you said this is six days after surgery and you cant bend your leg? i had the same thing done this past Monday and my doctor told me to start moving it. (just the smallest bit nothing major) were you doing similar things? im so scared moving it this early will mess things up... most of the time it was straight but occasionally i will bend it or sleep without the brace and itll be over a pillow and slightly bent.
Hi Piper, gentle bending until you get the staples out, then move it consistently every day. The first time I had it done i waited way too long, the second time I started bending much earlier. It will not tear from movement, it will feel very tight but don't let that hold you back:)
Kyle Newell Hi, im confused as my Dr. Advised me not to bend mine yet. My surgery was Nov 8th. I broke my patella on Nov. 1st...yea i had a shotty birthday.
Fractured Patella here 13 days ago. Still having to wear the immobalizer so it doesn't move at all. it was rebuilt using cables... DR said "Dont BEND IT"
+TexasBulldog74 hows it going ?
I bend my knees after 2 weeks of surgery of Fracture Patella just like yours,
hows 3 months progress ?
Link to the leg strap you used?
Kyle your video I just what I needed I am 4 wks into this injury I am due to go to hydrotherapy this week but my wound hasn't fully healed as yet so a little concerned, what is your progress now?
This is really helpful i got my knee reconstruction 5 days ago, and i cat get out of the bed, . Tnx for this.
