It sounds good up from the sound 5,000rpm, but I think it resonates WAAAY too much down low. put the hot dogs on it.

I work at an exhaust shop and personally I reckon put a small barrel ressie at the end of each tail pipe, it will get rid of the ass sound down low and add ALOT more throat all through the rev range a hot dog really won’t do shit so please put 2 barrel ressies in
What's a 2 barrel resonator and what does it do?
@@cosmic_gate476 you know what droning is with modified exhausts? They help reduce, ideally eliminate drone from you exhaust sound.
Drone is when you rev the motor and get an unpleasant amount of bass while driving at certain RPM and certain throttle input.

I actually like the look of this one unlike the other Z models. It’s got a bit of a 180sx nudge to it.

A couple of Nissan SR20’s would pull a premium one week before race wars.
To me it reminds me of my 84 Z31T that I had. Except mine was a single exit style straight pipe from turbo back and it sounded like a Indy car on steroids lol. It definitely has a unique sound to it. But I do like it.

Sounds pretty nice actually. Almost like a mix of an L28 and VG30. If you wanna hear the worst sounding straight piped car. An E90 335i with an N54 and no crossover pipe. It sounds like a WW1 Bi-Plane
Dude, In person the vr30 and n54 sound similarly terrible. If you do identical exhaust setups, they’re bad.
@@c63tay70 Well in my opinion, no not even close. The VR30 has a lot more growl to it and is a bit more tame. My friends straight piped Q50 sounded pretty okay to me. Not the best sound but it was decent. I own a catless straight pipe N54. It’s horrendous. Peaks at 128db. It hurts my ears if I have the windows down. I can’t imagine people outside of the car. Around 2.7k RPM it produces a buzzsaw type sound that echos and can be heard over a mile away. I need to upload a CZcams video. It’s louder than my NA V8 in an AMG.
@@Xtremecarfan10188 I had a full straight pipe, flame shooting n55 that sounded fantastic. When my friend pulled up in his “custom valvetronic” vr30 back in 2018 when they were new, it made this odd turbo-hiss-downspool sound that was terrible. It sounded like a gtr with its balls removed.
@@Xtremecarfan10188 the trick with n54 is that you need to get a big single turbo. Sounds great then.
@@c63tay70 it’s the way the exhaust manifolds are on twin turbo setups. On the N54 it runs separate so three cylinders firing into each manifold. Without a crossover pipe it basically sounds like an extremely large 3 cylinder Ford Fiesta instead of a six. So you’re right, a single turbo would help!

Remember kids, loud doesn't mean good. But seriously, I kinda knew how this would sound already. I've been looking for an exhaust for my q50 3.0t (same motor as the Z), and this sounds pretty similar to the ones I passed on.
Get a motordyne, I have it on my g35 and the sound is unrivaled. Or if you want a little more quiet, the invidia catback gives a great tone.

@@fraxonthefurry21 the H pipe is supposed to quiet it down at low rpm but high rpm it suffers due to the restriction.
The X pipe is more for higer rpm but still has restriction.
Each turbo should have its own dedicated exhaust system IMO ...
It would of been great if the vr30 was a debored GTR engine.

Man I miss that trumpet like sound of the 370z V6, so I thought this new 400z would loose that sound. Thankfully they still somehow kept it. Maybe it is due to the factory Y pipe. This sounds nothing like the Infiniti turbo V6 (which shares this engines).

Man I do NOT like the exhaust notes on these things at all. It's nothing against this particular setup. Heard 6 now and haven't enjoyed the note on any of them.
The car itself does look sharp in person. I think design wise it's actually pretty nice.
