After replacing the battery on my vehicle the car would not start. The problem is that in the process of changing the battery a fuse was blown. The fuse was in charge of the immobilization system.That is the system that is designed to read the ignition key and make sure that it is in fact the proper key for the vehicle. This is part of the antitheft system. Vehicles can blow fuses for several reasons. It could be a short in the wiring, moisture issues, or very commonly after working on your vehicle. Replacing the battery, replacing the starter, replacing the alternator, replacing the fuel pump, etc.

Holy hell thank you for this video, I’ve been working on my 2008 Honda Pilot and I replaced the fuel pump and spark plugs but in the process the key broke and I was just using the metal part and ran all the test for fuel, Air, and spark and couldn’t figure out why the hell the car wouldn’t start till this video popped up and tried it and boom it started right up I feel dumb but feels good to hear it starting again thank you.
This happened to me 2 days ago, but luckily I was able to put my key back together for a few seconds and start my car, and it wasn't that broken so I just super glued it back together when I got home.
My partner and I are on vacation in another state when our Honda key fell apart after date night dinner. We are both freaking out... This video saved us from who knows what! #mvp
This video really help me out. I called the locksmith set an appointment for tomorrow after watching this video. I went outside and tried it. I cancel the locksmith immediately because now the car start thank you so much. I appreciate I subscribed and I gave a thumbs up.
My mother and fathers vehicle wouldnt turn on, and she had to be at work. When the key broke on my dad, he didnt notice the small little plastic piece that fell out of the key. Put it back, and everything was right as rain baby. Thank you!
Thanks for this. What i eneded up doing was going to Home Depot & i made a spare key for 2$ just to "open the door" then i put the spare key in the ignition witht the real key under it. & it started beautifully.

This just happened to me at first I didn't know what I was going to do because it cut off with my family in the car with me I had to let them walk home but I came on CZcams to try figure something out and what your other video with the fuse then this one so then after watching this I went back to my car follow the tips and it start right up thank you so much 🙃

Thanks for this. My key has been breaking up for a few weeks now and I ordered a new one. Unfortunately the key completely broke up today and the new one hasn't arrived. I repaired the key by taking the electronics out (a single unit which still operates) and filling up the inside of the key with a resin. The key is nice and strong now and the electronic unit works fine for opening and closing the doors and arming the car . However I was unaware of the immobiliser and so I could not start the car. Your video helped me there. The chip for my key is not in the same place as you have shown but rather in the unit that I took out of the key. But if I hold the unit close to the key whilst attempting to start it works just fine.

Very helpful! I was wondering how close the rfid chip needed to be to the ignition switch because, of course, my Pilot key fob fell apart. I put the housing inside a new fob but left the rfid inside the old fob attached to the key ring, but the car wouldn't start. I now can see that it has to be directly near the ignition switch. Good job.

Changed key fob covers. No instructions regarding a chip. Retrieved old fob and *BAM* it’s all good now. Thanks a heap!!
My 06 pilot would actually crank but would not start. I had just taken the guts from my broken key fob and put it in one off Amazon. Like an absolute moron I thought the chip was in the guts with all the other circuitry and not in the breakable and (not so) replaceable piece. After digging through my trash can a found the good half and can now start my car again. Thanks!

so it turns out that little plastic piece that fell out of the remote when I replaced the battery is pretty important...! once is saw you pick it up and say it was the code I realized my error lol. went back, found it and glued it in and all is right again. feel foolish but I am happy it was that easy. one thing that threw me off is that the old key would no longer start the vehicle so I think when my daughter had the new one programmed the locksmith didn't program the old key with the new. anyway thanks for the video. saved me a lot of time and money!

Just purchased a used Ridgeline from private party on Monday and he gave me 2 “complete” fobs, a key on a fib with no buttons, and an empty fob with a blank key. He didn’t explain why he had the assortment and i didn’t ask. On my way to a job site at 6:50 am, turned the ignition key, and while it felt like it turned, the car didn’t start. Tried adjusting the wheels and turned again. Same sensation. Heart racing, fearing I’d bought a lemon but not believing it, I pull the key from the ignition, but I only have the plastic part in my hand... then my heart raced faster, thinking I’d broken the key in the ignition!
Took some deep Breaths, tried to take the fob together (didn’t work) and then thought to Google how to fix a key a broken key fob. Found your video and was so relieved and very thankful. I had a pair of pliers in the car with me, so turned the key with those while holding the fob by the ignition.

Just wanted to express my gratitude for you taking the time to share your knowledge. It saved our Christmas. My sister-in-law broke down in the Walmart parking lot. One of her kids had cracked the key somehow after they started it at the house to warm up the engine. The chip fell out. So it wouldn't start again when they were done shopping. I tried a bunch of diagnostics and finally stumbled across your green key flashing video. Luckily, the chip was still on the floor mat, under the gas pedal. Good idea I try it but nothing just have a question I replace the ignition cylinder from another car with a different key but I am using the original Immobilizer Why it not starting any suggestions thanks

Okay just to let you know it worked I actually went to a locksmith and they made a door key to open up my door because my key would not open up my door the one that was broken off the phone I put the remote right where you told me on the round circle and my car started and you are 100% right it does work I just have another question for you while you're driving will the car shut off if the key fob is not right next to the key that they just made me so he made me a key telling me that he needed to program my car he said it was just a door key only but I was able to start my ignition without the key fob attached but I did do exactly what you said put it right by the round circle and it worked

When the reader isn’t reading the correct key and the green key icon stays on will the car crank but not start or just not crank altogether?

Holy crap. My key broke while I was replacing my lower control arms and then my car wouldn't start. I actually tossed that chip on the ground cause I didn't think anything of it. But something told me to go back and get it 3 days later.
