      Yh considering that the ram trx if you can get it with the official price starts at 80k and 100k for max spec and 90k for medium…yes that’s quite a difference but you get a much more powerful and a slightly more modern design overall (in my opinion)

      @@hannthenan Think it needs a better interior, but it makes sense since they're trying to keep it down on quality compared to GMC and Cadillac. Should probably be closer to 55-60k. It's really just all the packages that add like 20, you can get a lower msrp model with the 6.2 for way less.
      What GM really does wrong is come in way too high for a base model crewcab, like 40-45k.
      Keep in mind that this car costs 1k less then a GMC Sierra Denali optioned with the same powertrain/drivetrain. The interior in that is much better. I guess this is their sporty chevrolet alternative, but they kind of missed the ball on sportiness and all the extra price just goes into packages that are standard on higher trim sierras and edgy exterior cosmetics and big ass tires.

    Just got a 22 LTZ and I’m absolutely loving it. The breaks felt off too me at first too but then I put it into sport mode and they felt like I thought they should. Switching back to normal mode I honestly think the way the breaks feel is meant to creat a smoother feel to the breaking as a comfort to the passengers. If you step on it they will break hard but it’s trying to keep you from being jerky in the normal mode.

      The unfortunate thing is, relative to what's coming in the next few years, a lot of modern vehicles aren't THAT dissimilar in terms of the ownership experience versus older vehicles. More expensive, sure, but we're in the early days of the "subscription based" automotive experience. The cars of the future will over slightly more convenience for the price of your privacy and a monthly subscription service on top of the cost of the vehicle.

    • @JustinSmith24
      @JustinSmith24 Před rokem +3

      I wouldn’t say GM likes to stay behind the mark per se. Their Performance Divisions and Electric Divisions are first class in all the automotive world. What Corvette and Cadillac are doing is top notch as well as GMs current and up and coming electric cars. In terms of the TRX/Raptor segment it’s not something GM has shown interest in and in my opinion never will. These vehicles will be all electric by the time GM decided to do anything crazy in the high power off road market. Now what they did with the Colorado ZR2 Bison is above what any other make was or still is doing in the mid size truck market. The Bison will outperform any new midsize truck on true off-roading. So it’s just really where you look

      Definitely agree about the interior, but the high country doesn't have the "off road" capabilities as the ZR2. • @joshtavenner3073
      @joshtavenner3073 Před 2 lety +1

      It depends what you’re doing with it. People keep saying it doesn’t compete which is only true if you want to go fast in the desert. Somewhere along the way desert running became the end all metric. I’d venture to guess more people do slower speed more technical trails than they do go fast stuff. Not being as narrow and having the front locker makes it more capable depending on the scenario. It’s like saying a Power Wagon isn’t a competitive off roader. Just has a different purpose. I’m actually glad they went a different direction. At this point what’s the point in making a Raptor and TRX clone. 700hp sounds cool but not really practically put to use in most applications. Don’t get me wrong I love the Raptor and TRX and would happily drive one. They just have different purposes. Doesn’t make one better the the other IMO since they’re not really built for the same mission. A lot of great off road options on the market right now. Buy what fits what you’re going to do with it. Or what bragging rights you prefer to have.
      Also important to note, atleast with the TRX people keep looking at the starting price and comparing it to things like this. If you just want to say you have 700 hp the base TRX is fine. Comparing the test features for feature the ZR2 or AT4x are loaded luxury trim trucks. A base TRX is for all intents and purposes a low option Big Horn-esque interior. Do get all the same interior appointments you’re looking at a $100k TRX. Again some don’t care about the luxury stuff. But important to note what you’re really getting for $70k which each.

When I saw the price tag, I laughed. I am not even sure Chevy partisans can justify that. Maybe when the chip shortage ends and Chevy starts putting 10K on the hoods to move these, it might be interesting. As it stands, this is basically an LT Trail Boss with better shocks, stock tires and a cool front bumper.

    Lots of things I could pick apart that you said in this video. That being said? One thing that I will pick apart is the "you could get all the truck you'd need in a Trail Boss for a lot less money". That not true. If you load up an LT Trail Boss with a 6.2 there's not a huge price difference. Mid to high 60ks for the Trail Boss and right to low 70ks for the ZR2. And taking it on a washboard road to critique those shocks is not a fair way to compare the Z71 Rancho Shocks to ZR2s multimatic shock system. There is a big difference when doing true off roading at higher speeds. Calling the 6.2 average when it comes to acceleration is a bit mis leading as well. Maybe compared to a sports car yes. But not compared to trucks and SUVs. Idk, I get that we all wanted a Raptor/TRX competitor. But this truck is a lot more affordable than those plus it's a lot more practical for most people. Thumbs down 👎 on your review.

    Just here for the inevitable comments saying it’s not a TRX or Raptor from people who never leave the pavement nor live near a desert. IMO this is a little more towards the Rubicon or Power Wagon end of things than the high speed Raptor or TRX end of things. Depends what you’re doing with the truck. Slower more technical trails something like this that’s not as wide and has the front locker makes this a better option than something with 700hp. Want to go fast I’m open off road settings than obviously a Raptor or TRX is better. Buy what fits your needs. Lots of great options. Or just buy a TRX If you just want to say you have 700 Hp lol

    It doesn't really compete with the TRX or Raptor R. While it's a nice truck the TRX has a whopping 700+ horsepower and the Raptor R is also 700+. Granted those are 100k+ dollar trucks while the ZR2 is pushing 80k fully decked out, so we can't really expect the ZR2 to compete with either of them but GM sure tries to make us believe they can. It's priced like a performance truck, but it's performance is no better than a RST. In fact the RST looks better and has the same exact interior, and has better package options. Quite frankly, I think the ZR2 is a dud. Sorry to anyone who owns one and loves it, but get a trail boss or RST and save some money.

      Since when do we worry about top speed on a truck…?

    Lol, you never seemed impressed by GMs trucks or Suvs, Camaros are very fun though

      As a former owner they’re not very impressive. Unfortunately Chevy seems to lay on the bling and not so much the substance when it comes to the interior. That is a major factor to a lot of people when it comes to expensive trucks, because they expect a 70k interior when they’re paying 70k. Granted Ram and Ford aren’t perfect but Chevy/GMC yet again seem to just go for a chintzy look and feel over quality and detail.

    69k for the mediocre powertrain and a cloth interior, for 60k I can get me a kingranch with massaging seats

    Why would GMC keep putting a over sized 6.2 liter engine in their trucks to only get a little over 400 horsepower 🤦🏾‍♂️ At this point V8s should be producing over 500 horsepower standard. It's 6.2 V8 ! The V6s are shelling out the same horse and torque now. Gorgeous tuck and I like Chevy as much as Ford....Ima Ford fanatic....but the tech and engineering needs to step way up.

      Can you show me what naturally aspirated v6 is outputting 430hp and 460lbs trq? And 6.2l ohv is not nearly as big as those huge 5.0 in those mustangs. I'm sure you know the platform. Dohc and ohv

    Sooo many people in the comments working that o/t just to make their gigantic monthly payment on these trucks. Stop buying them, my overextended brethren! You can't afford them, and you're keeping the prices up. 🤡

    I did a road trip in a Ram 1500 sport and averaged 19.2 mpg.
    I've done the same trip in a Silverado LT. I averaged 20.6 mpg with the 5.3L.
    But you don't really buy trucks for fuel mileage. Also GMs interiors have never impressed me. Not even Cadillacs.

    the google maps thing is really awesome except for the fact you have to pay a subscription. come the f on, you want to attract potential buyers with a really useful perk? make it FOR FREE!! instead of attracting buyers now theyve done the exact opposite and turned away potential buyers with making it a subscription. no one wants to pay for a f'ing app subscription in their car gtfo who is the head of marketing??

    14.2 is atrocious MPG even for an off-road truck… the Ram Rebel (the actual competitor to this truck) with the diesel or gas V6 options will get up to 22 city 32 highway.

    • @anythinggarage

      No it doesn't. We were getting like 14 avg. Not even 33 all terrains either. They were like 31.5 Goodyear at tires

    i'm just not a fan of chevy any more chevy in my opinion just needs to die now because unless they kill the cheap plastic crap i am never buying another gm product i will always stick with my pontiac vibe which has great toyota parts or get another lexus or honda vehicle excluding my pontiac vibe vehicle sicne this is just to help me get on my feet and start working building credit
