Toyota wonders why the Tundra is the lowest selling fullsize pickup but then charges crazy money for one and then dealers mark them up 5-10k on top of that. You can't get a tundra for 10k plus off msrp like the american manufacturers are doing right now, let alone msrp.

@@dawsongranger4940the tundra doesn’t sell well simply due to brand loyalty, well that’s the number 1 reason. @@T_81535 No, I’m looking at rst silverados for like $45k with heated seats and blind spot monitoring. That’s the price they should be which is why they’re selling at that. Salesman love seeing tundras with an msrp of $75k and charging $90k. The off road models have less markdown because that’s what people want. Ram is the most guilty of charging insane prices for trucks and marking down. But you’re still getting a lot more truck for less than a tundra

I don’t think there is a clear “winner” truck anymore. The previous gen Tundra was definitely the best reliability wise but now, I think choose your poison and hope for good things. I think they are all well built, modern, better interiors with more tech than ever before. That said, they all have issues and none seems heads and shoulders above the rest. You can poke holes in each brand. Pick your brand loyalty and hope for the best, I feel in today’s market. They are all overpriced. You can say that about each brand.

Engineering background, one of my favorite hobbies is looking at trucks I can't ever afford to buy new. Starting at the low price of $70,000, the Tundra I force Max TRD Pro can be yours lol. However, this is the ONE. I prefer this ove the limited because you can go off roading on it. Compared to Ford and Dodge, it is still more affordable. I love the 19-21 MPG You take a hit on the MPG vs the non off road but you have some nice upgrades and you still get a respectable 19 miles combined. Love the skid plates and suspensions. 10,000 pounds is more than what i would ever need to tow. Step up to the i-Force Max and combined output rises to 437 horsepower and 583 lb-of torque. For you audiophile fans the JOB is as nice as Lexus Mark Levingston audio. By the way all trucks are going to have some rattle and noise in their center console.

      @Brian-og4uu Před 4 měsíci

@@mr.fiction5564 My understanding is the towing on these vehicles are limited by chassis, brake, and suspension type things, so throwing more power won't increase the legally safe towing rating. I like to think of my nightmare towing situation: a vehicle towing it's max and trying to control the trailer going down a steep, long and winding hill. The engine power (besides maybe engine brake force) will not be a factor as much as the chassis strength, braking power and ability to not overheat, and wheelbase to some extent. If they keep making changes to increase mid-size towing, it would end up being more of a 1/2 ton and not a light midsize pickup.
But yeah, upgrading up one generation jsut because usually isn't the best choice. I have a 2nd gen and love it, but I am only interested since I have an access cab and manual (wife refuses to learn), and may want something different in a year or two. I love driving the 4.0 6 speed though! It's a real treat, but expensive on gas.

Plus if you need an extra seat from someone you have it. With three kids it is crazy that I still would not be able to take an extra passenger in such a large vehicle.

Some people want a truck that can be used as a work truck capable of towing over ten thousand pounds confidently on a daily basis without issue, a practical enough grocery getter and errand runner, a reliable vacation truck capable of cross country road trips with or without a load and with the comfort of a Lexus sedan, worthy of light off-road use, and if maintained correctly, capable of a million miles. Toyota also has the highest resale and trade in value. With the raptor, you get a pure offroader that is an unreliable POS with a growing list of bs recalls and no trade in or resale value whatsoever. Only a complete moron would buy a used raptor, where as nearly anyone would confidently buy a used tundra.

@@T_81535For mainstream use the F150 XLT, Tremor and for ultra comfort the Platinum and King Ranch exists which can be optioned with all the goodies you want, with higher towing capacity features and interior space making it better than the Tundra. Then there's the F150 Lightning & Raptor R which are in their own league.
Well maintained vehicles nowadays can easily do upwards of 300k miles, it's not limited to having the Toyota badge. Also all trucks are expensive to buy nowadays be it new or used - I wouldn't say that the trade in value is going to be any higher on either of the trucks.
The Raptor is more like a high speed desert Runner, like the TRX. Runner. There is no Tundra that can match its raw performance.

@@T_81535 I’m sorry, did you say Raptors have no resale or trade value? I beg to differ. A Raptor holds its value extremely well, better than any Toyota, sans a real land cruiser and Lexus LX. The TRD Pros interior looks like cheap, ricer dog shit out of too fast too furious. Spend some time on Raptor forums and you’ll see very few problems being reported. Any, are usually little minor things. Once Ford figured out the cam phasers, the raptor has proven to be stout. Toyotas 3.4s were also blowing engines left and right when first introduced due to the wastegate issue. If these TRD Pros were in the mid $60ks, I think there could be an argument for them. At current prices, you’d be stupid to take this over a Raptor. I’d take it over a ZR2, but not a Raptor.

Recently experienced a warranty repair for a steering rack that took three months to fix .
Had to fight to get a pickup truck as a loaner , with a hitch during the time my truck was out of service .
Then they gave me a 2018 Chevy as a loaner, when you are paying bi-weekly payments on a 2023 , 90000 truck in Canada was very disappointing.
Also, there is no compensation from GM , as well as I had to spend additional money out of pocket for other expenses .
Just a terrible experience all around from GM , I had been a loyal 25-plus year GM truck person .
GM didn't care about that .
Gm customer care thought I was joking when I told them I was done with GM after this .
I ordered a Toyota TRD PRO.

I test drove the Capstone trim level and was unimpressed with ride quality on the 22" wheels. Also, I was extremely unimpressed with sound quality on a $85k truck, terrible distortion at high volume. I know it's subjective, but I think the truck is hideous to look at. The only trim levels I like are 1794 w/TRD Offroad pkg and TRD Pro, but even then, the digital camo pattern on the TRD Pro exterior trim and interior seats is awful. And finally, I'm still a little hesitant regarding reliability after all the passenger side turbo issues that resulted a 'Stop Sale' when the redesigned Tundra was first released to the public. The first 6 Tundras delivered to my local Toyota Stealership all blew the passenger side turbo in the first 2k miles. I wonder if the passenger side turbo issue has been rectified. In my opinion, the Chevy ZR2 with a 6.2 liter is a better executed truck, rides better, has better SQ, but not by much, and is equipped with a front locking diff, the TuRD Pro is not, and I believe the 6.2 liter V8 will last longer and be cheaper to maintain long-term versus Toyota's V6 hybrid.
