7 minutes into this video and I could say this is going to be the best review. You’re not throwing specs at us, cause if you’re watching this video, you know the specs (hate when CZcamsrs do that). You’re showing exactly how to live with a truck on a day by day basis. Great video.
That's the idea - thank you for the feedback!
I agree 100%
Yup! The qualitative, spec-less reviews is such an untapped market. Great video.
a real car seat test, these are the thing people want to actually see. You got a new sub!
Nice! Thanks for subbing 🙏
I like the random Porsche and Lamborghini that came to play I mud kudos to them for fulfilling the cars duty
I am a prospective buyer of the ‘24 Tacoma. I have watched A LOT of videos about the truck, well before and since it’s finally out in the real world. This video is one of my favorites pertaining to the actual use of the truck. I really appreciate your approach to making this video, well done. My highlight: the noise of the windshield wiper motor! I loathe that sound. I don’t know if I ever would have thought of that on a test drive. THANKS…🤙
Thank you for the feedback - I'm glad this video is helpful!
It seems like all the new Toyotas make that sound now. My 21 does and my friend's 23 tundra does too
The turbo gasoline engine will NOT last as long as a naturally aspirated engine.
I purposely chose a 23 Tacoma because it has the naturally aspirated 3.5 V6 engine.
The “new” 2.4L turbo engine is the same engine as in the Tundra and it has Fallen from Extremely reliable down to average
The Tundra is a V6 with twin turbo's and the problem with the Tundra turbo's is the electronic wastegate actuator. The Tacoma uses a very simple vacuum actuator. And with a turbo engine you just got to keep the oil clean and let it warm up and cool down properly. @@Doc1855
For the 4wheel drive H, are you able to turn that on on the fly all the time?
I’m getting a 2024 TRD Off Road manual and I seriously cannot WAIT!!!
Congrats! Got to save the manual. New Tacoma is too expensive for me even though my truck cost more than a fully loaded OR, but it is a full-size, so value for dollar, it is decent.
Turning 4wd on, on the highway because of rain is wild!!
As one who watches hours of car review videos, this one was a breath of fresh air. I'm researching this truck and your channel popped up on my feed. You hit on all of the things that people really care about. New subscriber. Thanks and well done.
Car seat test is greatly appreciated. I wish more reviewers did that, since it was one of my biggest factors when buying a truck last year - it's actually the main factor why I crossed the Taco off my list. Cheers!
Great useful review! This really helps me visualize how this truck may be good for me.
You and Topher are my favourite reviewers!
Wow, thank you!
@@MilesPerHrcan you tell us where you got the taco dirty! What trail did you go to?
I've never owned a truck. I have been driving a Honda CR-V for the last 19 years (2005, then a 2014), but the new Tacoma caught my eye for some reason, especially the hybrid AND this color. I love doing DIY projects and sometimes the CR-V just couldn't accommodate the items I wanted to buy. I have watched so many videos since the 2024 was first announced and this video has really helped me to see what the average driver will experience even if you don't plan on off-roading, but totally could if you wanted to. Great content!
Once you own a truck you will NEVER go back to anything else
2005 CR-V is a great car! But yeah, I am also looking at this truck
Love from South Africa 🇿🇦
Have my first truck, a tacoma. Made me fall in love with the brand, can’t wait to trade up to this version
Love your reviews! By far my favorite car reviewer out there. 24’ Toyota Tundra next!
I like the interior revamp on the 24, glad they brought a manual transmission option to them as well
What a great Toyota truck, it's good to see you and of course you're the best driver, be very careful.
Nice truck & excellent review dude!
my family's been in toyotas since the 90s and that motor sound in the wipers has been there since then. at this point for me it's nostalgic lol
i can't wait until the 24 land cruiser is available for you to review
It's so sad it's probably gonna be like $60-80k
@@powrich12 brutal lol same price point as the 2021s but less car size-wise and no more v8
i still want it tho
@@dinuguan I would love one tbh but I'll likely get the Tacoma limited instead.
Coming soon!
@@MilesPerHr 😳
Nice, have you seen the TFL vid of breaking/snapping inside the front differential?
Awesome POV review Miles!
Thank you!
Great all-around review!
Glad you liked it!
Great review! wonder what this will like lifted with tires swapped out to more aggressive tires
love this
that was a great review we wanted to see. much better than the cookie cutter mainstream reviewers afraid to say anything negative.
New sub, great review! You’re in Tustin? What canyon was that you went to for off-roading?
my 3rd gen has the same wiper motor noise. only notice it when my music is off
A smile that only $55,000 after a $10,000 markup at 7% APY can bring.
Imagine the trx in the driveway
Looking between the taco and Colorado. one of my concerns was the rear facing car seats. One strike against the taco
Best review I’ve seen yet of the new Taco.
I’ve been shopping around to trade my Jeep in soon for a truck and had been wondering if I should get a full size or go the Tacoma route, and this has made me pretty much know I need a Tacoma. Just need to make the decision between a TRD Off Road or waiting for the TRD Pro’s to release
Just steer clear of 1 inch snow drifts and your 2024 Tacoma should be fine.
wow what a review
i really want my next vehicle to be a mid size truck and this review sold me like no other love the color of this model you have going to start saving now!
6:47 that’s exactly the kind of stuff I love to know though 🙌
Is there anyway to get rid of the 5 chimes at start up? That is gonna drive me nuts. Also, I couldn't unheard the wiper whine after you mentioned it. What's the deal with that!? I don't like annoying sounds.
Im a Tacoma faithful, when Toyota came out with the 4cylinder Tacoma I was disappointed and decided to keep my 2020 Tacoma TRD V6 till I test drove the 2024 Tacoma TRD with sunroof and ended up going home with the 2024 Tacoma
I love it.
Domestic trucks could only wish to have Toyotas history for reliability and resale value.Time will tell if this one holds true
Late to comment but I really enjoyed your review, I really wanted one of these trucks, but I have a baby on the way and the car seat is what did it, I went for a tundra and love it! Also at 6’3” I needed that leg room lol. And as a paramedic for a living I must stress it is not safe to have your seat up to where your legs are up against the dash in the event of a crash for people considering making the squeeze with the car seats or tall like me.
I want this truck SO BAD
are the cloth seats any better than the 3rd gen or same?
I recognized the landscape and live nearby. can you tell me where that service road is? would love to head out there looked like fun!
شكرا للترجمة بالعربية ❤❤
great review new sub
Thanks for the sub!
Great. A video about your driveway.
Toyota did an excellent job on this new Tacoma. It was long due for an update. I was initially unsure about the turbocharged 4 cylinder, but in fact it's a big upgrade over the old V6 which was very inefficient and also underpowered, the turbo 4 makes a lot more torque down low and paired to the 8 speed it's very smooth.
Watch TFLoffroad break their 2024 Tacoma. But if you stay away from 1 inch snow drifts your 4 cylinder Tacoma will be just fine.
@@IP0Monsturd my toyota dealer said not to take the 2024 tacoma off road until they figure out what went wrong.
@@billw8476 SMH. OMG. That's why I've never bought a 1st yr run rig.
The cope is real hahaha
And what do you drive?@@IP0Monsturd
this came across to me after I watched another video from TFLoffroad and their tacoma has a broken transfer case.... I am not sure how reliable tacoma is anymore...
Did they get rid of that sliding back window?
Miles, you're showing things off-road I've never seen before. Hitting the trails around Area 51, are we? Very wise of you to save a Chick-fil-A for ET. Awesome Off-Road POV.
Thanks, Edd! Glad you enjoyed it
Moving blankets and moving rubber bands, as a former mover that impressed me more than it should have.
Any Tacoma is Good to live with.
Does this generation of the Tacoma have power folding mirrors?
really like that orange on it
I know right? It shouldn't work but it really does, I'm a huge fan of the new Tacomas, very pleasantly surprised my expectations were not nearly this high.
Lamborghini huracan sterrato is so good and cool
Hope someone can do something like this with a limited soon. I assume it has more sound dampening but dunno.
Wiper motors are crazy loud like in an old school car.
I wish more dealers had newer tacomas speced out like this. They either have complete base model with add ons such as ppf , or a fully loaded one asking 63,000, I just want a TRD-Off road with heated seats and the 14” screen for 45,000.
my 2021 tacomas windshield wipers makes the same noise.
Inspect them my 2016 taco is butter smooth
No off road cameras etc like the tundra?:(
What is the maximum speed of 4 high?
I have a 23 Trail, and would love to upgrade to the 24, but the price is my only concern.
Pls review maserati grecale modena again like youre using it as a daily driver :)
when does the turbo kicks in?at what rpm
Can you do a day in the life driving in San Francisco? Would help
Is that holy Jim where you’re off-roading?
You should switch to dji. The image quality of the newest pocket is day and night vs anything gopro makes.
Better keep it on the pavement. That thing looks nice but the build is not good according to some reviews I seen on here. The front wheels quit turning on the last review I saw when they tried driving it up the snowy hills and something popped on it.
Where is the i-Force MAX version of this engine at???
Make sure you add in the recent Recall 🤣😂🤣
Why doesn’t this trim have a ffc?
Has the front wheel drive broken yet?
🤣
Nice 👍
You should try pepper jack cheese, and buffalo wing sauce on your spicy chicken sandwich . It’s my favorite!
Next order right there!
Be careful that front drive portion doesn't explode easily...
Anyone know if the back seat in the ‘24 is less roomy than the 2nd gen?
no one has covered this and i’m curious if the cup holders are able to hold a Yeti cup or a large sonic slushie cup? my current tacoma can barely and i mean barely hold my blend shake bottle
You don’t need that much drink u heard
@@amirtz3342 it’s still nice to know lol
Wait why put premium in the tank when it runs off of regular
This video from leaving a suburban driveway to the "wilderness is hilarious!
A $50K truck at 13:36 traversing a gravel road. It ate that up and spit it out like it was nuffin.
That wiper noise would drive me nuts
because of the turbo, do you idle for a bit before turning engine off? wondering if necessary.
The wipers are pretty obnoxious. It’s not just you. Good video man.
Why did it take until now for a reviewer to mention it? I guess none of them were driving the test trucks in the rain.
@@bsd7342 can’t tell if you are agreeing or calling me an idiot.
Toyota usually has annoying wiper motors, in my experience
Does that motor require premium gas?
Is the map on the infotainment screen for Toyota TRD default or is it a Google map?
It's the default, but you do need to pay for navigation/tech pack
Does the Taco have unlock at all four doors like it does when you put your hand in the drivers door?
You can program it to unlock or lock one or all the doors. Just like the third gen.
Yeah, I was asking if you can put your hand in the rear passenger door and still have it unlock THAT door or ALL doors. Something my 3rd gen can't do, but my wife's 5th gen Rav4 can.
im waiting for that manual Tacoma review. Miles don't keep me waiting
I did a video on that a couple months back: czcams.com/video/N0Njup-LzRI/video.html
@@MilesPerHr Thanks Miles
In my opinion, turning circle makes all the difference in daily use of any vehicle. The Tacoma's large turning circle is almost a deal breaker for me because I hate having make 3 point turns to park in tight parking spaces or make a u-turns on narrower streets.
Tustin CA, cool
Love your review style. Any chance of a Ridgeline Black Edition review?
If these midsize pickup videos continue to do well, I'll think about including that one!
Proper love that colour combo
Looking forward to 1st 😈 Demon review. Expecting to see you dressed like Ryan Gosling in Drive and seeing if you can fit a body in the boot 😂
ha! First Drive in the Demon is up now - went up Sunday (check it out!)
Lol I don’t usually go into 4 high for rain, and definitely not going that fast 😳
I would inspect the windshield wipers! Toyota would not tolerate that much noise!
What kind of hellscape of a housing development does this guy live in?
Gonna need a tune
Love the review but coming from the Midwest putting a truck into 4x4 for some rain hurt my heart, and unless I missed something in new trucks I was always taught to never put my truck in to 4x4 while I was in drive
Yeah you missed something, a lot of newer 4x4’s you need to be moving for it to engage.
A lot of newer trucks are e-diffs now and can be changed while in motion. Manual diffs should still be stationary when changing from 2x4 to 4x4.
Headlights???
i swore they said the tacoma took regular gas not premium
If that turbo 4 cylinder hits the 300,000 mile mark, then it will be a genuine worthy and reliable V6 replacement. I hope it holds up. I definitely trust a Toyota turbo over other manufacturers!

4H at 70+mph wild.
How did you get the sway bar disconnect? I heard those were a no go for a while
SO COOL!!! This is the first stabilizer disconnect I’ve seen on a production 2024! I have one on order and now have new hope of getting the SDM. 👏🤘👍
This is a pre-production vehicle from Toyota for review. I didn't order/own it
@@MilesPerHrDang! Thanks for the info.
Curious. Once your kids grow a little, you'll turn those car seats around. Have you tried that to see if there's enough improvement there to take that negative off your list?
Sure, but in the meantime, it's really tight - worth mentioning in my current reality.
@@MilesPerHr no doubt. I'm in that situation right now. Just curious if anyone has done the car seats forward facing to see if it's better leg room for the driver.
Plus you said you're basically 6 ft right?
was it 4Hi or does it have a AWD mode? And I think in the off-road section was your water bottle pinging around?
Lol tacos don’t have AWD, it’s always 4H or 4L and manually.
I have an 07 FJ, but I haven't looked at the systems on the 2024 Tacos, so I didnt know if they went and added an AWD setup on the new ones. @@paulm6481
