Lol Good ole Dana always on his promoter mode. Gsp talked about this, it’s a negotiation tactic. Say if the fighter doesn’t wanna take the money the ufc is offering, Dana goes out and makes it sound like they’re scared. Fighters have big egos. Imagine getting hundred of tweets accusing you scared to fight someone. A lot of guys fall right into it.
Dana is the number 1 human being that I'd love to watch getting brutalized, and the one and only time we had the opportunity to watch that legally... Tito Ortiz did not want to fight. Like, for real.
I've softened on Tito since that day, and learned to appreciate the goofball, but damn... we could have gifs of Dana getting brutally KO'd in a boxing ring had Tito not bitched out at the last second.

I tested negative for leftism eh I wouldn’t go that far. Scott Crocker is known to treat fighters really well. I’m not knocking anything Dana does. He’s not the fighters friends and the smart ones know it. As a fighter your goal is to fight the best and get the most money as possible. His goal is to give the fans the fight they want and make the most money as possible. Different goals.
@I tested negative for leftism - for me it was a bit annoying to have to listen to Dana giving his opinion about everything, since I got hooked on JMMA during the early PRIDE days (+ Pancrase, Shooto, K1, etc)
And there, neither Sakakiraba nor Takada took so much spotlight from the fighters, the fighters themselves were the stars and the faces of the promotion.
I would sometimes watch the UFC when there was a big card, or when guys like Chuck or Randy Couture had a fight.
And I always hated how that "Dana guy"
(all I knew about him was that he was a failed businessman & "fitness boxing" coach for women, but was childhood friend with the uber-rich Fertitas brothers, who gave him the UFC to play with)
kept giving his opinion about everything, tried to be a tough guy and considered himself the fighters equal, or worst, superior.
Like, why should we listen to this guys' opinion when it comes to MMA? Give us Bas Rutten or something...
I still remember the Randy Couture feud, and how 99.9% of the fans were anti-Dana back then.
I'll give Dana this, he managed to make a LOT of fans over the years. Shaving his combover, getting his teeth fixed, starting roiding, cocaine and having pro-fighters kiss your ass must be a great confidence booster.
Dana made it "cool" for the younger audience to like him, and that's pretty impressive. Playing tuff guy on TUF set and delivering carefully crafted one-liners was good for his career, and for the UFC.
So, good for him I guess, still would have liked to watch Tito box him up...
In White's mind, someone wanting to renegotiate their contracts and not accepting every single demand from the UFC equals not wanting to fight. Kind of a pathetic mindset really.
Fighter: "I want to fight, and be paid fairly for the fight."
DW: "So why don't you want to fight?"
What's fair to the fighter is irrelevant. Fighters are paid based on how much revenue they bring in, and if they don't want to fight, they don't need to accept the offer Dana gives them.
@@bro4ks Kind of a silly response. You could easily go the other way. What Dana thinks is fair is irrelevant. If he doesn't want to offer enough, he won't that fighter. In truth, what they both think is fair matters. That is how capitalism works. Employee wants lots of money for little work, and employer wants lots of work for little money. They meet in the middle and work together, or they don't and each pursues different opportunities. In this case, Dana finds another fighter, and the fighter looks for a different fight.

Not really. The only disrespect was stripping him from his interim belt. Because every single time he has been booked against Khabib (read, a shot for the actual belt), something out of his control happens (be a Khabib injury, an injury of his own or a pandemic). And the one time he had control, he messed up by taking the fight against the best version of Justin Gaethje after cutting weight twice when he could say "no, fuck it. I'm Tony fucking Ferguson, I'm on a 12 fight win streak, I can and will wait for Khabib".

Aldo was in his locker room, in a intimate moment with only his team, and was filmed by this hidden camera for at least a couple minutes. I've never seen footage of such a camera for any other fighter!

Man you guys missed two huge acts of disrespect, first of all the Reebok deal which prevented fighters from seeking out there own sponsorships in the ring, that severely crippled their income forcing them to rely on a pitiful Reebok fight salary, and also John Jones testing positive and having a entire event moved across to a different state forcing everybody within a couple days notice to get on a plane and travel to Los Angeles from Nevada, all because John Jones tested positive and they didn’t wanna cancel the card, oh and I almost forgot, Los Angeles has a higher tax bracket to so that affected everybody’s purse as well
The Reebok deal cost them a lot of talent too. Michael Mayday McDonald, Rory MacDonald, Benson Henderson, etc. and that time Nate Diaz got fined for wearing non-Reebok gear to the weigh ins so he tweeted that they were Reebok Jeans lmao
