    The worst thing about Taiwan is definitely the ridiculously humid tropical/subtropical weather. When I first stepped off the plane in Taoyuan airport it was literally like stepping into a sauna. I've never been to Florida though, so the humidity might be slightly less of a shock to you.
    The best thing about Taiwan is friendly people, higher quality food for cheaper, and for females it is one of the safest countries for sure. Not that anyone should ever let their guard down anywhere, but their violent crime rate is extremely low - I think similar to Japan.

      This is all great information! Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
      Florida is definitely very humid as well. I am so excited to try all of the different foods! I am so happy to hear all of these amazing things about Taiwan and cannot wait to experience them! :)

      @@KristiMartin 👌👌 western food comes at a premium (comparable to US prices) but any kind of Asian food is a great value there. Rent is quite high in Taipei though, so hopefully they handled your housing in a satisfactory way

      @@user-dh7qb3zw5l I've been to Taiwan a few times so I know sometimes the weather is perfect and not even humid. But overall the humidity is extreme for me since I'm used to dry heat of California

    "So be sure when you step, Step with care and great tact. And remember that life's A Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed) Kid, you'll move mountains."

    Yea Mrs. Martin for your packing ideas. I am like you Kristi, I usually pack a week in advance the things that I know I will not need and pack the rest the day before I leave. My best friend does it the night before and it makes me nervous because that I know she will forget something but it is usually me that does 🤪

      @KristiMartin  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes! My mom really was the mastermind behind getting it all to fit haha. That would make me nervous too! I really don't like to forget stuff!

    In my case, I had to move with my whole family from Venezuela to Mexico ... It was the most stressful thing I have done in my life, I had to put 23 years of my life in 2 suitcases ... I left behind so many things and Memories, I can't even tell how much we cry.

    Thanks for this video!! I'm an incoming Fulbright ETA and about to graduate so I have to move out and also pack to prepare. Did you do two checked bags, a personal item and a carry on? I saw the blue bag and was wondering what that was for. Also, if you have a list of what you packed/bought do you mind sharing it?

    People please avoid freaking out about packing up your clothes just use my packing trick: USB Space Saver Vacuum with Ziplock Space Saver Bags. Let the USB space saver vacuum suck out all the air in the ziplock space savers bags until the bags are literally flat very thin and hard. Just leave it sucking air out until it looks like a wrinkle thin flat rock. LOL I can pack way more clothing and bedding for my family of 9 children and 2 adults. My children ages are 18 years old, 15 years old, 10 years old, & 8 years old ( all are twins and triplets, unfortunately I had 10 kids but 1 baby went to heaven after birth). ❤

    I think what you are doing is really brave. I'm just a couple of years older than you, but I can't even begin to imagine leaving my home and family for ten months. I would be overwhelmed with homesickness and extreme anxiety. How are you able to cope with being away from family and everything familiar for such a long time?

    • @KristiMartin
      @KristiMartin  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Kayla! That is very kind of you! Honestly, it was really hard having to say goodbye. Something that has really helped though is technology and being about to video call with my family while I am in quarantine. It will definitely take some time to adjust in Taiwan, but I am excited to see what God has in store!
