- Last week in my quest to make a full 18th-century ensemble I made an embroidered stomacher and, more importantly, POCKETS!
This week I celebrate my 30th birthday by sewing the accompanying American Duchess for Simplicity bodice from the 8161 pattern. And I wander into the mountains of California to camp, engage in light haunting, and finish the Big Reveal™!
I'll show you how to sew an 18th-Century bodice (like the ones in Outlander) using the American Duchess + Simplicity 8161 pattern. This video also includes using a meat thermometer to make eyelet holes, an octopus made out of sleeves, and some non-campfire smores.
Soon I'll be figuring out how to make a ruff and finally making the simplicity 8162 stays that I've been avoiding forever!

Your cat is a delight! 🥰😊🫶
watching this again as inspiration to finally finish this dammed bodice that i've been putting off like no project before
Not my jaw dropping when you started HAND SEWING. I am making this fore a regency era Sweeney Todd and I am using my machine. Amazing
It came out really well
I also despised the sleeves for the pattern. They were the reasons I had to start over abut im nearly done! I just have to figure the lining 🫠
Of course such a handsome kitty has to get on the project!
Haha. I may have to make s supercut of him laying on all my projects soon!
@@katencat Honestly, that would be fantastic!
You are really very good. I fully expect your channel to explode in the coming year.
Omg. Thank you so much! That would be lovely. I'm just glad people are enjoying the videos. 😊
The whole outfit looks great. These bedsheets now enjoy the best moments of their lives. 😄 I wonder what your next project will be, good luck!
Thank you! It's kinda fun that those sheets went from sitting in the back of a truck unloved, to now having pride of place on my mannequin.
I too, am a fan of bedsheets 😁. Love the finished product, looks amazing! And such amazing scenery too! Lucky you!
Thanks, Kat! Bed sheet army for the win. It was so fun getting to be so silly in such a beautiful place.
Looks lovely!
The landscape video and outfit are both exquisite!
Thank you! It was a mad dash to get it all done in time, but it was such a fun process.
my favorite piece is the skirt! nice outfit!
Thanks, me too! And it doubled as a very cozy blanket.
What fabric is that? Looks amazing all together! I can’t wait to try this myself
Hey I know this is a year later but what boning did you use?
