  • About this presentation
In this wide-ranging talk, ethnographer and leadership expert Simon Sinek discusses the importance of trust, authenticity, and meaning. Sinek argues that as individuals and companies, everything that we say and do is a symbol of who we are. And it is only when we communicate our beliefs authentically that we can attract others to our cause, and form the bonds that will empower us to achieve truly great things.

    About Simon Sinek
A trained ethnographer and the author of Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, Simon Sinek has held a life-long curiosity for why people and organizations do the things they do. Studying the leaders and companies that make the greatest impact in the world and achieve a more lasting success than others, he discovered the formula that explains how they do it. Sinek's amazingly simple idea, The Golden Circle, is grounded in the biology of human decision-making and is changing how leaders and companies think and act.
His innovative views on business and leadership have earned him invitations to meet with an array of leaders and organizations, including Microsoft, Dell, SAP, Intel, Chanel, Members of the United States Congress, and the Ambassadors of Bahrain and Iraq.
Sinek recently became an adjunct staff member of the RAND Corporation, one of the most highly regarded think tanks in the world. He also works with the non-profit Education for Employment Foundation to help create opportunities for young men and women in the Middle East region. He lives in New York, where he teaches graduate level strategic communications at Columbia University.

If you don't understand PEOPLE you don't understand BUSINESS." ~SO MANY great quotes within this presentation! WELL WORTH the watch!

Most of this was not new information for me, I am 66 years old and have lived long enough to see all these scenarios play out. However your presentation put it all together in a way that I comprehend it for the first time. I am retired from Oil business and it was frowned upon to go to someone's office to talk about idea. ..... "Put it in a email" .... even worse was the suggestion we CC our Boss. Good news is; I recently started my own business and I am so excited to be the kind of leader that loves and brings out the best in every associate. Thank You; Old Dog Learns a New Trick and Wears a Red Hat! May God Bless You!

    • @AlanmanAaron
      @AlanmanAaron Před 7 lety

Comliance we were talking about Aristotle... not Socrates

    • @Comliance
      @Comliance Před 7 lety

Okay.... If we talk about Aristotle we don't talk about one person, we talk about Philosophy.
What is Philosophy? Philosophy is the endless search of man for truth and meaning. The search for wisdom in the end.
Your words to me Sir sound more than a trial to overtake power over my thoughts.
You talk to me more like a teacher or school principal than someone who will discuss with me on same level.
It seems that you Sir will try to rule me who is right and who is wrong.
That is the way how "authorities" talk to the "stupid".
They are right and all the others are wrong!
But what is truly right and what is truly wrong? What is really false and what is really true?
If someone, like you Sir, comes to the opinion that Aristotle and all other great philosophers were totally wrong, it is a matter of fact for itself. I have to respect and accept it. His or hers opinion has a genesis created by own thinking based on a very special mix of his mindset. Founded on individual knowledge and life time experience. Our so called Individuality. So I have to respect your opinion. If I agree or disagree to your opinion or opposite is the result of an initialed process of understanding on both sides.
Every woman and every man has a very special individual mindset. And I will tell you something: Everyone is right in sight of his or hers very own experiences and knowledge. His or hers truth or better reality.
Finally we are not comparable were are individual.
And we all have strengths and weaknesses.
What for someone is a strength could be a weakness for someone else and the opposite.
And to be successful and happy in life we are well consulted to surround us with people who are more clever to compensate our weaknesses than to struggle all the time with each other who has the same strengths to find/fight out who is the best.
So I am tired to talk about final truth or final wisdom with someone. It is an endless game I don't want to play with anyone anymore.
I respect your opinion. It is your very own way of thinking or sight onto the world. No-one has the right to judge that wrong. So I don't want to judge that in any way. Because your mind is not mine and mine isn't yours.
But I will give you a last recommendation. Perhaps a different way to think to you Sir:
Would you be able to change my mind over Aristotle or anyone else on the world without empathy and/or confidence?
Is it really unnecessary to build a climate of respect and/or much better sympathy first? To increase the chance to get full attention of your guests to your speech and thoughts that way?
I wish you Sir a very nice day and furthermore a happy life

Wonderful speech, personally I try to be as nice as I can to people, even if they aren't nice to me. And yes, that is kind of a dangerous thing to do, but I do it anyway. Just to feel that I am a good enough person. It is my choice to be good to others. People often ask me, why are you so nice, why are you doing this for me? And if it's a person I feel comfortable with or whom I just like, I tell them that I just feel like doing it. I feel like making their day. It's true, that when you give that homeless person money, you get a great feeling of accomplishment and pride inside yourself. Being generous even when you don't have that much to give is the most wonderful thing. People might even help you more. My point is, there's not point in being a greedy person. I once was that, I never wanted to give anyone anything, because it was mine. But I found the joy in giving people something of me. It makes me happy to see them happy.
    Have a great day!

One thing that helps me create trust is something I learned from an amazing ted video. With the same principle of common ground, I learned to see people and see for their experiences. And the emotion they felt when they were experiencing them. Their pain of abandonment, anger, frustration, complaint, joy, peace, euphoria, love, confusion etc etc. I also tap into their motivation behind what they do. Their need to be peace with themselves, their need to feel important, their need to express their originality and be loved for that. Their need to have someone their for them etch etc. And these are things I know in my own life. And I just listen to others and tap into that part of their story which I can already relate to. And boom! We are close! This way of perceiving life and relating with others have given me a passage into any human beings heart. And thus I am no longer alone in this world.

This vantage point activates the God love within that's need to love them thereby expressing unconditional acts of love..remember you reap what you so so if you're sowing ego driven acts you will reap ego driven acts from other. EGO! I slip into SELF and then afterwords say "Damn this flesh" That knee jerk reaction jumps out before I can catch it. Then there is a lot of repenting and folllowing the ways restoration. But praise be to God He can redeem the times.

During a storm we were called to rescue a larger king crab boat, at one day away at sea called the Skip Blander. She and crew were dead in the water. Each swell was 30 plus feet high. After finally getting a line over to the tail end and someone crab our longest throw. I atacked a 2 in Samson line to our stern and we towed the crew in large seas back safely to Acutan Ak. Non of requested or got paid , but we all felt great for help people we never knew or ever meet. Thanks for the opportunity to say this from back in the happening of 1980.

Thank you for this video. I've been feeling
so bad about my life. I love to be nice and
helpful to others without think about reward
But more I do to the others, they just paid me bad, I just wanna stop to caring others.
But this video made me to be calm. Now
I feel O.k to keep caring others. Thank you 🤗🤗🤗

What I have learned in the last 3 month's from listening to Simon is amazing. The already positive work ethic and attitude I was able to get from my father has now been enforced and added to. It is so unfortunate that most people in small businesses, don't have these tools to work with. Such an untapped wealth of information...my eyes have never been more wide open than they are now. Such " great stuff"!!
