I made mine by using magnesium glycinate, potassium compound salts,Celtic sea salt and organic strawberry powder that I made myself by dehydrating strawberries and grinding them into a fine powder.I made 100 servings to which I add fresh lemon juice and a few drops of fulvic acid in X350 concentration. Taste is great and works well, especially those days where I fast for long hours .

I appreciate you showing how to make the cheaper electrolytes, but I would like to make a suggestion. Epsom salts more likely can cause digestive issues. Bulk supplements makes a magnesium glycinate powder which is more absorbable, and they also make a potassium chloride in bulk. I use only those two items and the redmonds and mix them together and pour a lime or coconut La Croix drink in it and a small amount of sweetener. I like the Redmond Re-lytes, but actually my favorite is the LMNT chocolate salt, and citrus salt.

@@sandrayule2383 The only thing difficult to find here in the US was powdered magnesium glycinate, which I order in bulk from Amazon. Redmond salt is available in my local grocery store, but also on Amazon. Potassium chloride is a salt substitute sold here under the brand names No Salt or Nu Salt.

I completely agree w/spending the money on those specific items that "check the boxes" for me. Being a lifelong, frugal shopper, I have learned that I can justify spending more on a few things, because I save SO much on so many other things. I'm also blessed to have several discount grocery stores, gleaning clubs, meat co-ops, etc near me which are paramount to shaving huge amounts from my food budget.
*Tip for the DIY electrolyte mix, I have experimented with various combinations of natural flavors to create a drink much closer to the pre-made ones. My favorite is to start w/a base of the powdered "TRUE Lemon/Lime/Orange" as a citrus, tart base which begins to counter the saltiness. I then will add in whatever other flavors I'm in the mood for, such as strawberry, pineapple, banana, coconut, etc extracts or 'sweet drops'~ or a combination of them~ & mix up a couple quarts at a time. We are so blessed to have so much variety now in S.F. flavors/sweeteners. It's a great time to be sugar-free/health conscious!🤸‍♀️
Thanks for sharing your experience w/it all Nili~ have an amazing, peaceful week🙋‍♀️Sammy in AZ

Thank you so much! Electrolytes was one of the things holding me back from staying keto as I cannot afford the brand name ones if I want to eat sufficient protein when I’m only one of a large family sticking to it. I just made a double batch and when I added the serving amount to water I added stevia, coconut and pineapple extract and squeeze of lime juice. Tropical punch flavored water and I barely taste the saltiness. Yumm!

Heart palpitations make sense, the heart itself is a muscle. Since these electrolytes are responsible for carrying the electrical signals that allow the muscles to contract and relax. I think I’ve had them on occasions especially when dehydrated.

Heart palpitations can be scary if you don't know what's causing it. I had them; one PC sent me to the emergency room where they couldnt find anything wrong except elevated blood pressure. A different PC asked immediately about electrolytes and told me that I had to have more. High bloodpressure can also be an issue when fasting and it's a lack of electrolytes. I love Re-Lyte.

Dairy is HUGE! As soon as I cut out dairy it takes a day or two and I look and feel like I’ve lost ten pounds. It’s amazing. Milk and half and half is very addictive. I don’t know why but I just love it so it’s tough to give up. Giving it up has so many benefits but the two biggest are almost immediate weight loss/inflammation and a major reduction in mucus. I’m always super stuffy and mucusy when I’m consuming dairy and I hate it.

Being from Wisconsin originally . . . giving up dairy for me is super hard. Still trying to give up the heavy cream in my coffee. I cut way back on cheese also . . . but I'm still a "cheese" head at heart. Totally believe though that I would drop some more of that weight if I quit. Maybe give it a month or two trial . . . and see what happens!

I make my own and it is diluted with 3-4 cups water and ice so it isn't so salty. I sip it during the day. The type of salt makes a taste difference! Recipe:
One half tablespoon Equate Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Lemon Flavor, 10 Oz (4.27 a bottle at Walmart.)
    OR
One quarter teaspoon magnesium citrate powder (Bulk Supplements) NOT BOTH!!!!!
One quarter teaspoon Morton lite salt
One quarter teaspoon Redmond real salt.
This equals or slightly exceeds the magnesium, sodium and potassium levels in commercial electrolytes. I bought water enhancer for flavor but it wasn't needed for my taste buds. I have tried the others, but they don't fit my budget. I find it helps my energy and dulls my appetite as well. Thanks for your comprehensive video!

I do have LyteShow drops for my purse; they also add a little zinc. Then when my bottle is made up, I add 2 drops of Lugol's iodine (per Dr. Bright), my vitamin C powder, and a couple ounces of colloidal silver and my mineral water is ready to go. I call it Mermaid Juice. 🧜🏽‍♀️
For the folks that find it salty, drinking it ice cold helps. If you use it, a squirt of lemon juice or Crystal Light (or similar)`can also help.

An added problem for this comes when you live in Canada and it's hard to (or impossible) to get some of these options, and even if you can the expense is even higher. 1 serving of LMNT is over $2 from amazon, re-lyte isn't available.
I watched this and searched online, couldn't find anything that tempted me enough so I got to thinking about a "hybrid" diy electro drink. My wife buys biosteel for my kids from costco. I think it is a little less than $1 a serving, no sugar. There's only 140mg sodium and 30mg potassium. I added 1/4 tsp of the windsor no salt (650mg potassium) and 3/8 tsp of redmond's real salt which bumps up the total to just over 1000mg sodium. I mixed it up in a 1litre mason jar and ya know what? it's not bad. Maybe a tad salty, but the flavor of the biosteel really helps. At the very least I have a good starting point. Just figured I'd throw this out there for anyone who also had problems finding good options.

I understand that this is probably proprietary information but by law it can contain many more ingredients and chemicals according to Bobby Flav. For such a well know brand for quality this is unacceptable to me. I want to know what I'm putting into my body and I stay away from anything that includes natural flavors in their ingredients. Question for the DIY formula: both baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and salt (sodium chloride) provide sodium, but salt also provides chloride and is pH neutral. Why use baking soda instead of doubling the amount of salt without the baking soda? What is the advantage of the former? Less chloride?

I'm thinking of doing both. I just bought the re lyte watermelon lime one and love it. I think I could add some flavored liquid stevia to the homemade version!!!! Thank you! I was just thinking of why I'm losing again and my mitro valve prolapse palpitations had come back! Adding the electrolytes is the key!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing all this. I feel like you were talking about me. I've had huge appetite all my life, and my sleep is poor because I get up to go to the bathroom 2or 3 times a night. I also have a difficult time fasting because of the hunger. I'm going to start being more consistent with electrolytes making sure to get enough.

I flavour mine with a drop of 'Waitrose no added sugar high juice.' It does contain some carbs and sucralose but I only use a drop so it's negligible. In the UK I looked at many no added sugar squashes and they all contain multiple nasty sweeteners so this was the best option I could find.

Thank you for this review! I've never used Re-lyte,I'd like to try it. I use the keto chow electrolytes and also LMNT. I love salty flavors so I'm good with the LMNT. I want to try the homemade electrolytes recipe, too.
When I drink water with Keto Chow, I often use a packet of Real Lemon or Real Lime in the water, plus add some stevia drops or allulose for sweetness. It's very good. But honestly, Keto Chow could be more salty! LOL
This morning i felt horrible because I was at a social gathering last night and had two mugs of beer. I had no Idea I'd feel so awful. The first thing I did was make a quart of LMNT electrolyte water and believe me when I tell you, I chugged half of it right down immediately. I never do that, but I guess my body was trying to tell me something. It wasn't long after that I drank the other half. It really helped! Looks like I won't be drinking alcohol for a while.
I had heart palpitations too. Since I went mostly carnivore, those have stopped. At the same time, I started the electrolytes, so I can't say if it was the diet, the electrolytes or both.
I hope you have a great day. Your helpful videos are very much appreciated!

    Re-lyte in Canada.
Nili you just showed the US🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸Price $29.99🇺🇸
Same jar in Canada $88.39🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 As usual, online retailers are thieves here!🇨🇦
The US🇺🇸Price plus the 22% exchange rate means the price should be about $36.50🇨🇦
Thank you for the recipe….. I will simply add 1/16 tsp to my spices as I cook!
    It is only salts.
    So simple!

Heart palpitations are serious and should be checked out by a physician. Afib is one type that can occur sporadically, and it can cause blood clots to form which could potentially lead to a stroke or heart attack.

I can’t find the no salt in Canada but I can get the now brand of the potassium chloride but I didn’t know if I should get that or potassium citrate or if either would work well as a substitute? Makes 12 1-quart servings (2TBS = 1/4 Cup) Macros per quart mixed:
    2 Tbs baking soda (1) = 2520 mg Sodium
    2 Tbs Epsom salt (2 food grade) = 247 mg Magnesium + Sulfur(?mg)
    2 Tbs No Salt (3) = 1360 mg Potassium + Chloride (?mg)
2 Tbs Sea salt (4 unrefined) = 840 mg Sodium
    Options:
    1) Baking soda is alkaline but not salty tasting so if adjusted can change salt amount
    2) 2 Tbs Magnesium Glycinate powder does not have the laxative effect = 200 mg Magnesium
    3) 2 Tbs Potassium Citrate powder = 896 potassium (no chloride or additives
-but available in larger quantity from NOW)
    4) Pink Himalayan may contain more trace minerals than Celtic or Redmonds
Have no idea how these substitutions might taste but its worth a try! A little lemon juice & may Stevia may help...personally I would cut back on the baking soda since salt is easily added to foods and not sure I agree with the SnakeDiet reason for using it.

I haven’t tried any of those but I’ve tried the brand that they sell at Costco. Not happy with them as they have too much sugar in them. I also tried Vital Proteins = 3 flavors and I love their Clementine flavor but they sell them in packets - 12 to a box?? I got them on sale at Shoprite for $13.00 a box. I tried a couple of packets of other flavor and didn’t like them at all. I just got another brand (forget the name) from Thrive Market. Haven’t tried them yet. I am going to get the Re-Lyte. Brand packet selection next month and see how I like them. I have found that electrolytes have helped with my hydration problems. A lot. I bring a water bottle filled with it to work and finish drinking it by the time my shift is over. I will try Re-Lyte next month. I have to finish what I have right now.

When you lose weight and your body is going in and out of ketosis, you lose a lot of electrolytes and magnesium. That's why you were waking up to go to the bathroom and getting heart palpitations. The bathroom part was your body shedding water to rebalance with your too-low electrolytes. Upping them results in your body being able to retain the water.
