I would like to visit The Talyllyn Railway someday!
@@javielalvarez5459 I have actually already visited the TR back in 2017. me and my dad was very luck to have had our train ride behind no2 the Old lady. despite the changes made to the railway since 1951 it was still possible to cast my mind back to the first summer of TRPS operation of a elderly engine running on worn out rails and having to stop raise more steam
Skarloey watched Edward being taken back to the works; then, shutting his eyes, he dozed in the warm afternoon sun. He smiled as he dozed, for he was dreaming, as old engines will, of happy days in the past
Old Engines can’t pull trains like the young ones can.....
They can if they’re mended Old Faithful you deserve it
I would love to see a story where Skarloey and Rheneas reunited with their sisters and they can swap stories.
Aw, sir!
You mean their brothers.
Talyllyn, Dolgoch, Rheneas and I were built together in England 🏴 Talyllyn is my sister Dolgoch is Rheneas’s Sister their railway is it Tywyn in Wales and they are 100th too they were green and we were red. Talyllyn and I had four wheels then and no cab. We thought we were wonderful and talked about how splendid we look pulling coaches. We had no use for trucks.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!"
-Skarloey, Thomas and Friends: Blue Mountain Mystery: The Movie (2012)
The fact that Talyllyn was defined as a selfpropelled bomb really must've meant the engine was in a rubbish state-
Anywhere else she would have been scrapped years before.
As a train driver my self and a train lover, talyllyn it's a live museum and an inspiration for train preservers. Cheers from Portugal.
It's amazing how Wilbert Audrey found this railway and made the railway popular due to Thomas the tank engine
Talyllyn defined as a selfpropelled bomb hahahah love it!
Well if it hit somthing hard enough it could go bang
Old locos without maintenance are...just that.
Bombs.

As a boy being on holiday and now lucky enough to live near by and have always followed the ups and downs of this railway. Watching this video I am so very proud of the little railway and the history that it breaths every day. This video is a fantastic insight to both the history and the heroes that make the magic happen. I very much look forward to more like this.. can’t wait. Well done all.
What a faithful old engine.
3:43 - Simliar to Connor's incident.
As Victor said it can happen at any speed.
Talyllyn whose history story was wonderful...
Agreed
So the real-life events of Skarloey remembers are: How Talyllyn was worked out and resting in the shed, Dogloch’s department to be overhauled, and a lady known as Mrs. Pugh who was often commonly late like Mrs. Lasts.
Tallynn & Dolgoch are my favorite narrow gauge duo, even tho I'm American, I railfan over British and American engines
Nice to know this Really Useful Engine is getting the treatment he deserves hopefully he’ll be back in service when I get the chance to visit the railway someday
This is lovely! Dan has done a splendid job on the narration! :D
Hopefully we get more videos like this on the other Tal-y-Lyn fleet. My favourite is Douglas as he's an EX-RAF and he celebrated his centenary birthday to mark 100 of the division he worked his life for.
Hopefully, Talyllyn will be back in service in the future.
Talyllyn will be repainted in GER blue livery.
She is due to be back early next year
I love the nod to Carson Davison with music and footage from “railway with a heart of gold”
What a nice story it’s nice to hear the story of tally
@@G_Force-cx2mr lol
absolutely love this i can't wait to see more. Dan is an absolutely stellar narrator!
Besides Talyllyn being worn and left in the shed, is Skarloey Remembers also based on Dogloch's depart to be overhauled (like Rheneas) and a lady named Mrs. Pughs that was commonly late (like Mrs. Lasts)?
I'm really enjoying this series so far. Hope you do more of these. For Talyllyn, she (well referred to as a he in the RWS) is a lovely engine with a great, but heartbreaking history of how she went through. The stories of the Skarloey Railway from both the Railway Series and Thomas (the Tank Engine) & Friends introduced me to learning about this lovely little old railway and engines. Hope Talyllyn returns to steam under its own power again.
And also, Daniel Long did a spectacular job narrating it.
List the real-life events of: Skarloey remembers, Old faithful, and the "Very old engine" stories
thank you for this nice little video. :)
More of these would be lovely
How funny. Me and Talyllyn share the same birthday 😂
A book credit might have been a nice plug to help Wharf shop, considering a lot of those images have been scanned from my book 😉
I hear that Talyllyn first had a faulty firebox in the 1860s.
How?
I really love all these backstories we have for these little engines that have stood the test of time. Not only do we get to see where they come from and how they came to Talyllyn, it we also get to see the inspiration behind the characters we know from the RWS. I’ve watched the videos for all of them now, only I can’t find Dolgoch anywhere. Was one made for her, or am I looking in the wrong place?
Loved it!
What was the Talyllyn's centenary like in 1965?
Awesome video
I love this... i hope they make more about the other engines
There will be one instalment of "Engine Stories" each month!
Amazing! I do like Talyllyn.
Me: hmm, i wonder how Talyllyn is holding up
someone: she's in overhaul.
Me: *stares dissapointingly at the camera*
Please, go over Sir-Haydn and Edward-Thomas, and how they worked on the Corris as Hughes and Kerr
2:04 Great Scotland Yard. It's Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends The Original Series. Thanks Mate. X
What a terrific vid. Seems to me you could make a lot more of these! Either way I was glad to subscribe.
Wasn't there ever a mudslide on the Talyllyn?
This was a very interesting video! Love seeing the history of the engines!
Do we have more video/sound from that derailment at 1:17?
The footage of the derailment is from "Railway With a Heart of Gold"!
You can watch it here:

The last time I saw Talyllyn working I really liked that she was blowing smoke rings!
Her birthday celebrations in 2014 is on my birthday 😁
I like the History of Talyllyn That Was Interesting 😊
An incredible machine
Dry rails and good running
It's a crime I have not been here
great video about number 1 here hope she returns to the railway soon as it will be a great day for the railway and should bring more people back to see the gallant old engine return XD. Oh any idea if you are going to do more vids like this for the other engines of the railway also??
There will be one episode of "Engine Stories" a month!
Really enjoyed the video! More like this please!!
Very glad you enjoyed! You'll be pleased to learn that there will be one instalment of "Engine Stories" each month!

I understand that on the last occason that the engine ran before overhaul due to the state of Talyllyn's boiler his crew had to seal up the leaks with oats who was very surprised that their engine ran at all.
Any idea of an estimated year of when she will return to steam? I love that engine a lot
skarloey: if your wheels aren’t moving you aren’t being a really useful engine
i love tallylyn, couldnt make it to AE2, but im definitely going to AE3!
Both times I went I didn’t see talyllyn running but I wish I did
Loved this, Skarloey is my favourite narrow gauge character from Thomas and Talyllyn is my favourite loco from Talyllyn Railway.
When is Talyllyn due to come back to action after overhaul?
That is one of the world's greatest questions
Somewhere in this year or the next maybe.
2024
Very nice, when do Dolgoch and the rest get their own videos?
Nice
If i ever travel to the railway, i wanna have a ride with Tal-y-llyn or Dolgoch
Thats a old 0.4.0 steam engine and she is still loved
0:34 I'm surprised that edit looks convincing.
Or did that picture always look like that?
Talyllyn is a metal Phoenix.
Where did you get the derail footage? 1:17
It is from "Railway with a Heart of Gold" - watch it here! czcams.com/video/BoDGqQRlYZU/video.html
I bet Talyllyn you will return to your railway someday.
The 2014 paint reminds me of Donald and Douglas
Or the old Caledonian paint :)
What ever happened to the Tallylyn’s original boiler after it was removed? (Probably was scrapped but I just want to be sure)
Do we know the current date when she’ll be coming back because like stated she is a very special engine
I want to ask. Is Douglas still in steam?
Are you ever going to make a Dolgoch history video?
Looks even more like Skarloey in red...
that was very interesting and did you mean the Song Tragedy by Steps haha
Can you make videos for the rest of the engines please?
Nutshell
Controller: we use this for build
0-4-0: shakes
Controller: fix it
0-4-2: crew is wet
Controller: fix it
0-4-2: need overhaul
Controller: *fix it*
That was sir Hayden who derailed! 1:22
When Tallyllyns right hand rods broke, how come her left hand rods were replaced too? They apear to be in working order?
I suppose it's like wheel bearings on a car, ya always replace both sides so you get even wear.
Potential that they might have suffered when the right hand rod factured and therefore it makes sense to replace both sides with identical ones. The newer rods look to be more substantial in size.
@@damienboyington4057 I only replace both sides if I was charging a customer! ;)
Reminds me of Edward's Exploit.
We all know we would like to hear the stories of the rest of the fleet.
I love these engines more than American engines they are simple and just overused especially black paint but with England’s they have engines in different shapes sizes color that’s the beauty of it
This is what inspired tttes skarloey railway
Is there 2 engines numbered 8 & 10? Alf is no.9 & Trecwyn is no.11 are they not there or are they still in serviced?
No.8 was called "Merseysider" and No.10 was called "Bryn Eglwys" - they have both left the Railway, having been sold on to new owners.
I believe No.8 is with a private collector and No.10 is working on a different Railway now.
The Diesels we currently have are No.5 "Midlander", No.9 "Alf", No.11 "Trecwn" and No.12 "St.Cadfan" - they are all currently in service
@@TalyllynRailway1865 I really wonder where No.8 Merseysider is and how it looks now
@@TalyllynRailway1865 so would they gonna visit someday with there owners?
@@nascar97fan I believe No.10 has been converted to 2ft gauge, so would no longer fit on our track - which is 2ft 3" gauge, so it wouldn't be able to visit the Railway again sadly - though it would be nice to see them both back again, there are no plans for this.
@@TalyllynRailway1865 wait I didn't know they been updated?
Douglas will be the most interesting engine I think because we know all about Talyllyn and dolgoch sir Hyden and edward thomas as well but I don’t know all that much about Douglas

Im actually from Philippines and finding information about Skarloey from Thomas The tank engine His little old twin 150 years old there's nothing like him anywhere.
Still waiting for No. 2
I hope that someday I'll be able to meet Talyllyn. I bet she's very sweet.
That footage of Dolgoch derailing looked a little violent.
Skarloey's little old twin

I wish i lived in uk

I like how in some Parts in the video it's pronounced "Tally-Clynn" and the other parts as "Tally-Flynn",I'm still gonna pronouce it as "Tally-Flynn"
Tallylin and his brother SKARLOEY
Would you do videos like this about other engine?
This is the first in a series of videos! There will be one episode of "Engine Stories" a month
Please also do real-life events that inspired Awdry’s Skarloey and Mid-Sodor stories
Is talyllyn ever going to return to service
She absolutely will! We're not sure when, but definitely sooner rather than later!
He will very soon and be painted in GER blue.
Is this is the basis that Skarleoy and Rheneas were based on?
Skarloey is based on Talyllyn, yes - while Rheneas is based on Dolgoch
@@TalyllynRailway1865 thanks man and wow made in 1864 god their old.

The real life skarloey
Wooooow she's had quite a rough career. The war must've been the final straw since that's when she was sidelined
Didn't Talyllyn's bouncing ever cause somebody to fall off her footplate?
No one will ever know except if the time machine is invented and the dials are set for 1864 or 1865.
is this the unlucky tug?
