- I've been using a "fancy feast" alcohol stove off and on for a few years now so I decided to pick up something that might not rust out quite as much. These Amazon alcohol stoves go by many different brand names, but aside from a little branding on some of them, they're all the same.

8 minutes that's not bad, pretty fair. Takes about that long in my steel pot on my stove burner at home
Bend the tabs in so it puts the stove on the base and it also stops the stove from moving about, the added bonus is it centres it. I think this is a bargain, I bought a 3" high Vargo windshield and all this fits in my Soto River pot. I use my Trangia burner in it though.
I've been using this for about a year and a half now, and even with the tabs in and a wind screen its still not as efficient as my cat food can stove lol.
I use HEET gas treatment in the yellow bottle. It burns clean and 12 ounces costs around $2.50. it's available at any auto parts or grocery store as well as Walmart and Amazon.
I've never tried Heet but I've heard good things about it .
Thanks Kurt I made a Fancee Feast stove and have enjoyed it. I did have a problem once while using it at about 21*. One thing I am changing up is my lighter, I am going to use one of those long noes Bic's. I like the looks of your new stove and I look forward to seeing you use it on the trail. This worked great on the trail. Actually to light it, I had a bic lighter in my pocket, I used it to light the end of a twig which I then used to light the alcohol... it worked pretty well. Merry Christmas!
Time tested burner design…can’t go wrong with that one.
Pretty happy with it, a bit heavier than the cat food can stove, but so much more stable.
Make bigger holes! If the red camp is too heavy for you then just work out more!! Lol
I took a 1/16 drill bit and made all the holes the same size. Much better performance
Hmmm... i might give that a try. I actually stopped using this particular stove because it wasn't very efficient.

You don't have to wait for the jets to fire...Just sitting the pot on can cause back pressure and they usually light.
A lot of times I would just light it, put the pot on it and let it do it's thing. Unfortunately it didn't matter what I tried with that particular stove it was never very efficient or quick. My cat can stove and Toaks Siphon have been the best alcohol stoves I've used so far.
I havd the samd item but black in colour. Burner is a chineese trangia copy.
As for stand it does not fit properly, burner flange not as wide as genuine trangia so falls through. If you use genuine trangia burner its fine.
I f you try to bend them in they may breake off, unless you heat it first. I just use a genuine trangia on this one and the copy on the trangia 27. Works fine.
I used this for about 6 months before switching to a Toaks Siphon burner and their pot stand is way more efficient.
A nice look at this stove will you be testing it out on your Christmas trip. I almost bought this one instead of the toaks one I have.

... bend the tabs down a bit. When the burner is sitting on the base it gives a 1 inch clearance which is optimal...
Over the year or so I used that stove I tried all kinds of modifications to get it to work better, it never performed well.
@@KurtZitzelmanfirst thing I did was to clean up the fuel vapor holes with a torch tip cleaner. It blooms faster and burns better. Keeping the stove on the tabs keeps it off the ground which helps with the flame output. I wish the serrated legs had tabs similar to the other three tabs so the pot you have would set inside just below the serrations. A little bit of alcohol around the outside area just below the fuel vapor ports helps it bloom faster too.
Check out the trangia mini. That is what the stand is copied from. The intended design is for the burner to sit on the base and the tabs are supposed to center it. It is just badly copied so just bend them in a bit.
I switched to the Toaks Siphon and it's fantastic
Had a home made one too and other day our lights went out and I decided to light it after a long time not using it...needless to say I almost lit my kitchen in fire!!! Please be careful people!!!!

Is that piece on top just for putting the flame out? I see if the design flaw because if I'm supposed to use that to regulate how much heat I'm getting to my pot. How do I do that when it won't Snap in place properly without the lid being on if the design flaw? It's a piece of junk.
The top part is for putting out the flame or regulating the heat output... I only used it for putting out the flame because I just boil water with it. You are correct, that part sits loosely on the stove, so you have to know how big of an opening to leave already or try to hold on to it to adjust it - which would burn you. Alcohol stoves aren't really meant for simmering or low heat so I'm not sure why they included that option. I used this stove for a little over a year before replacing it with a Toaks Siphon burner and one of their pot stands, the Toaks is way more efficient and a lot lighter.
Without pot sitting on there the way that it is. It's an accident waiting to happen.
It was actually pretty stable, I never had an issue with it tipping.

Well, it is an unboxing video for an Amazon product... most people like to see what they're getting for the lower priced items which is why I go more in depth on actual item and the apparent quality of said item. I'm sure you can find videos of just people striking matches if that's your thing.
