It is different tho, your soldiers do not matter ANYWHERE near as much as they do in Xcom.
Xcom has you commanding a team or two of veritable superheros. Mars Tactics will have you leading squads and squads of, while not expendable, cannon fodder with different soldiers having perks and traits to switch it up.
Gameplay wise? Similar from what I’ve seen and read, but not exactly the same. Getting squad wiped isn’t a game over as much like Xcom, more a minor setback in the grander scheme.

@@jmgonzales7701 In XCOM, the Aliens are much, much more powerful than the humans. In order to stand a chance against them, you need to reverse-engineer Alien technology to match them in combat, hence asymmetrical.
In this game, though, everyone has the same equipment and tactics.

imagine they just use a loader tankete as the 1st boss and next is a dedicated combat mech from mercenaries
Probably like mechs in later difficulties and a large mech as a final mission.

@@Rick_Steel yeah. Even in Xcom they remember norway and sweden but not denmark. theres more games that include many european nationalities But does not include denmark It has kinda become a Praise/Joke for us danes where we go "Look we are in this game/Movie!" When we see our flag or country.
Hooded horse has been on a rampage for the last year now, it's incredible.
Really hope the different factions offer different playstyles! Like guerrilla fighting vs policing actions to root them out

Corporate was hoping to install an atmospheric processing station to create an atmosphere. We like to call them shake & bake colonies.
Oh man, it just needs vehicles (both light and heavy) and maybe walkers
check our menace by hooded horse coming this year same vain as xcom but each unit is a squad and it has walkers / vehicles ect and a sort of sci fi cosmic horror vibe
The dev did say he doesn’t want vehicles or heavy armor. He also said that mech suits (like the one from the Alien movie) are not off the table.

I've been waiting for this game for a looong time! Played a demo a while back and it feels like a refreshing take on the turn-based tactics, finally!

Really enjoyed the demo of this - doing a proper bounding overwatch withdrawal from reinforcements after ambushing a train was excellent, the aesthetic and overworld map is also giving me Jagged Alliance 2 vibes 🙂.

decades before the helldivers first campaign against the bots and bugs, earth was still riddled with internal strife...
along with her first colonies...
2042 is ambitious.
The idea is they discovered a new element in the Mars return samples and it can be used to make next-gen batteries. It's worth trillion so they rush like hell to get there. This pushes up the timeline and creates a lot of problems, leading to a labor conflict. You can play as both sides: the rebel workers or the corp.
