There's a reason the human players spent so much time, energy, and lives data mining the ability
And our flying mounts we human mains make are also stronger, better, faster
@@Nameorsmth stronger, and faster sure, better debatable, we've yet to quite pin down the same degree of efficiency, and fine maneuverability for them compered to those who specced into it
@@James-ep2bx super sonic fighter jets
I'm looking forward to innovations in personal flight. Between the Gravity Jetsuit, Jetman, and flyboard air; I think we're genuinely getting close to humans having the same flight abilities as birds (albeit at massive fuel cost)
@@Nameorsmth supersonic flight might be exclusive to humans, be being able to casually glide from building to building or though narrow forests is still something humans can't do easily. Low speed / high manoeuvrability is still something birds and insects totally dominate at. Heck even gliding reptiles and mammals do a better job.
You should show us some gameplay of your human build
No way, practically every other channel on CZcams is somebody doing yet another Human LP. There's enough of those already.
another human player? typical
I’d be very interested in a support class let’s play. Dogs, cats, parrots, etc. Are amazing and I’d love it see a vlogging series with pets as the main character.
Youpviver Tito the Racoon
This is irrefutably the best way of ever requesting a face reveal.
Humans actually unlocked flight in one of the most recent updates, named "Birds of Steel" by the community.
They technically achieved flight a bit before that through some physics exploits. They took the balloon model, which was originally just a developer joke, and found a way to use it to fly.
That's just a new vehicle type, though, which you have to leave parked somewhere while you walk into places that it can't get to. Except for powered paraglider, which is a piece of equipment with flight ability. But it also gives you a severe weakness to wind.
It says one of the 4 builds that unlocked flight were mammals ya know, but im pretty sure that we arent directly flying, we control planes
@@dekutree64 I've heard that the human mains somehow snuck in their own mod that enables them to mimic the flying squirrel players, the devs can't remove it so they just let it stay in the game.
Elijah B. Nah, they’re just mimicking the flying squirrels build and abusing the aerodynamics debuff of all things, using winds and air to glide by making their body more flat and wide so they can remain airborne longer, it’s legit.

Nah they are likely to be flat out banned. They have broken the game beyond repair, no amount of balance patches are gonna fix that.
literally impossible to enjoy the game if you spawn in a farm smh
How about players with wings but no ability to fly? It needs to be analyzed
The solution lies in their diet .
Chickens and winged cockroaches can use their wings for quick escapes, but not for long flights to other servers
@@xnopyt647 They use their wings for jump boost.
The Business Geese simply decided to capitalize on the niche Antarctic server and score massive fish loot
I'm interested in this too. Thinking about doing a penguin build, but not sure which one to go with.
You also need to keep up with the metabolism demanded by flight.
The greatest disadvantage of aviation is probably that it is extremely expensive to fly.
Especially for that insane flight mobility like the Hummingbirds have.
Actually, some flyers, like vultures, use warm air currents to basically fly on auto pilot.

Jetpack here we go.
Humans already left Earth, let alone flying. they need a huge nerf, unless devs are allowing them to colonize other main servers aka planets.
@@HeavenlyWarrioras a human class user id have to say although we are the current meta the only way to nerf us is to ban us or micro evolve us into retarded animals that's the biggest nerf u can land on human class users as it will immediately cause it to act like monkey classes and other apes
There's one thing you didn't mention: flying costs a huge amount of energy. Fliers need to feed almost constantly to fuel their lifestyles.
wratched
Is that why the modern ones are generally so small?
@@spindash64 Basically, yes. You can cheat the physics engine only so much and being large, therefore heavy, scores even more penalty to the energy consumption of flight.
@@Alche_mist Well the other problem with trying to grow larger is that they would also need to discover the right combination of evolution points to give them plentiful access to XP. In the current meta this would likely mean evolving traits that give very strong PVP matchups against a guild with a high population on their main servers and which offers high XP values per elimination. For the current meta where the suitable targets in this area (guilds of large mammal class players mostly) are almost exclusively either in the very rare category or are human support guilds to make this strategy work in the current meta would likely require a good matchup against the other top S tier large build namely the human build since they would likely need to survive by directly competing with humans to gather resources from their XP farms or from their pet support classes etc. Let's face it most other guilds of large build players are quite rare due to the fact that humans have either classified them as a threat or at least a significant competitor for resources either of which is really bad for ones population in the current meta.
It depends on the flying build you want to chose. Hovering build (such as hummingbird players) requires constant food intake while gliding (such as albatross players) don't need to constantly eat.
Stop flying, start relaxing in the sky at the speed of 1000km per day. Join the albatross clan today and enjoy the most elegant travel skill in the game.

Could you make a video on the sleep ability? I'm curious to know how it is utilised by different builds
I have never thought of this.
How could I have not thought of something as common and vulnerable as sleep!?
You, sir, are a genius. This needs to happen.
yeah, so many builds have it and almost all of your stats are basically invalid when using it.
I am yet to master the sleep skill. Can you guys help me?
@@MeboDotExe sleep isn't a very strategic state to spend a 3rd of your time in, even if it does grant a EXP multiplyer and vitality boost. You are defenceless while in it, and you could easily be picked off by any nocturnal builds. If your current build is functional even without the sleep strategy, you may be able to use that to your advantage. It's a death trap. Once you master the strategy, you become more vulnerable while asleep and find it harder to resist it.

Paul Wrobel truly way op, should be nerfed
muskatDR Doesn’t mean they can’t obtain true flight in a future patch. Flying Fish builds have a much better claim for flight than some of their other contenders like the gliding tree snakes or the “flying” devil rays
@@GameElement64 Oxygen obtention is most likely the major reason they haven't spent evolution points to get true flight.

Pterosaurs sort of did.
@@maximillianlylat1589 yes, but pterosaurs had to walk on all fours.

@@mastermindcow6210 Yeah, bats are kinda stuck using their hands as wings.
In order to unlock civilization, remember that you need multiple different skills/abilities, such as agriculture, control of fire, etc. I find it hard to believe that any bird main could ever truly control fire. So even if any bird had hands, unlocking the society upgrade would be near impossible.

TierZoo: simply to gain acecss to the flight ability, requires a pretty heavy sacrifice to hp and defense
Humans: *Are you sure about that?*
Without equipment, human builds are pretty frail
@@melvint-p9500 yeah human builds are weak, I'm playing one right now, I fell down and got gravity damage, which compared to my characters height shouldn't have been much, but it lowered my movement speed for several in game days
@TacticalMoonstone fun fact Plains are actually safer then cars, dont belive me?Search it up

So that's kinda the reason whales are bigger than any land animal
Why... Why does referring to everything in video game terms make so much sense? This frightens me.
It's not like we are all living inside of a simulation... right?
its simply because u r focused due to the video's visually appealing yet related and the subject is simple also on point. This guy can still make the subject interesting without the video game terms, or wouldn't it? It all depends whether u have minimal video game terms knowledge or not
Video games are designed to imitate reality, and use concepts we know from real life. A lot of concepts are independent of the exact mechanisms of the world, and can easily be applied to real life and games equally. Additionally, there are a lot of games, a lot of genres, so games cover a lot of different concepts and ideas.
Honestly it would be surprising if it _didn't_ make sense! That would be very telling about our lack of imagination and disconnect from reality.
I suspect you are more familiar with video games discourse rather than real life or academic discourse, so don't worry it just how your mind utilized resources to gain understanding.
@@theuncalledfor I like your last paragraph--we would indeed be horrible at naming things if it didn't connect to other topics! Since humans are op, in December 2019 patch they released new microvirus builds, which spawn so fast and sometimes even capable of killing humans,I hope in the next patch they nerf those viruses, since I have below average human build.
Yeah, the devs are kinda annoying about either nerfing good builds into the ground, or leaving factions like the viruses completely scuffed. At the very least, they could make strategies - other than hacking - more viable for virus mains (I mean, some dataminers suspect mitochondria to be heavily specialized viruses).

I am a human main build who specked into the harvest skill tree and I must say, even though bees have a reputation for being stingy, I can confirm they have always been cordial players. If anything, they are simply curious and doing their part for their team in order to succeed, which in turn benefits me when utilizing the harvest skills. Never been stung, just a few times where they flew really close and applied a brief mental debuff, but a quick look into the in-game chat reveals their intent.

@@dirandrous7682 yeah sometimes in my camp in the central american server can hit 40°C

And of course, the Human players don't need those sacrifices in order to gain access to flight. Just goes to show how broken their tool use abilities are.
Although flight using equipment is not as versitale as non-eq flight and most of human players has access only to fast travel flight option.
@@vladprus4019 Well, the power creep in their tools has negated this issue. The tools "Helicopter" and "Jetpack" can be much more versatile at the cost of slower speeds and low flight time.
the tool use ability and high int stat made human could construct mount for specialize usage such as loot carrying and fast travel. And in the air you're able to get higher speed in the sky since the air resistance power that lowers player's speed decrease in higher attitude.
Not to mention they practically negated any draw back with their tool use ability, the tools are so op, that only other humans with tools can take down humans with tools. The only downside to relying on tool use is that they can’t use their flying tools with as much utility as birds do, however, humans don’t need to, it is as big of a downside as elephants not having the top speed of a cheetah, as in, the benefit wouldn’t really help the build all that much, it would probably be considered wasted points if elephants had the top speeds of cheetahs.
@@joanaguayoplanell4912 Pretty sure the "Jetpack" tool never made it out of beta for various reasons (Maybe in A51. We'll find out in a couple months, lol).
I don't understand how people can not like these videos.
It's because they're angry that they've been tricked into learning.
Because they often have misinformation or withhold information to improve the point or to make it seem more impressive.
For example in this video energy of flight was completely skipped over. Birds require a shit load of energy in order to fly and have to spend most of their time trying to find food. That’s why you’ll see birds jumping and walking on the ground more often than flying.
Nah it’s all the angry Cheetah mains
Is that this videos prove their favorite build to be trash
It;s the noobs that don't understand the game
It's so awesome to see that high-quality intro and the smaller animations of the bird. I've been here since the first vid and I'm so glad to see this channel thriving!
I don’t know why, but the transition to “MEXICO” at 4:37 is kinda funny to me
Bird: Oh shit I'd better take off or I'm dead!
Cat: I'm dead.
Audience: I'm dead.
Good analysis on the advantages of flight, but unfortunately you left out the largest disadvantage. Flight is extremely energy consumptive. First, there is the massive amount of energy used while flying. The hummingbird, a notable example, can starve in a matter of hours since its flight uses so much energy. Even just passively maintaining the muscles necessary for flight is very resource intensive. The passive drain on resources is actually why winged yet flightless builds like the kiwi exist. Once they had moved to a safe server where they could survive without flight, they no longer needed to maintain their costly flight muscles and let them go.
That's why I think it's good to pick a build that specs in wings more adapted to gliding. Way less energy once you're in the air, and you can even gain altitude from thermals that spawn throughout most biomes!
Hummingbirds are the exact opposite of that approach, I don't think their maneuverability is worth the energy loss
@@RaidsEpicly Yeah, in my opinion the vulture is an S tier build because of its superior gliding. Not only do they have to expend very little energy to earn xp, but they are mostly safe from predation due to their size and flight ability. They also have one of the most fun playstyles in the game, in my opinion, getting to explore massive amounts of map with ease.
Bracklinn Norah Vultures have a fun playstyle? Are you kidding? All they do is sit around and take other players’ loot. They never do their own raids.
@@sophieharris3496 I think raids are overrated. Most are not successful, so you end up wasting so much energy for nothing. Raid based playstyles are at risk of injury and energy failure, both of which can cause game overs.
On top of that, I actually find raids boring. Most of the time spent, for most builds, is either tracking or waiting to ambush prey, which I find pretty boring. Not to mention that doing the same raid over and over again can get repetitive. That's just my opinion, though.
To everybody in this comment thread...

Really surprised the high caloric uptake required for all but the gliding subclass of flyers wasn't mentioned! If you want to play most fliers, you have to grind TONS of mobs or find a bunch of resources. Look at the hummingbird! They are a prime example of overtweaking your build. Sure they can hover, but they have to spend ALL their time using that hovering to grind nectar resources.
Conversely, we really need a nerf to the albatross. Shit's broke
Devs have done the math and decided albatrosses are too heavy for their wing surface, they can't fly.
TierZoo: Birds can’t take hits well.
Pigeon: Hold my bread.
Penguins are PvP/Survivalist builds AND their defense is super high
@@Mel-0n Yeah, but sacrificed the Flight perk. Like why even bother going Avian if you are gonna drop the most important aspect?
@@morganjary Reply Simple - they broke the meta! Just cause their avians, doesn't mean they gotta fly! Their masters of land and sea! :D Sides, flight isn't the most important aspect. Beak and their variants are.
@@Hunterrion kick a goose in the chest and see who's got high defense now

I saw a seagull kill a pigeon once. Pigeons are tough enough to fly into things at top speed and bounce off with minimal damage, but they crumble in pvp against any class with decent power if they can't evade. A flock of pigeons is an easy buffet for even a low level falcon.
I gotta say, you are SOOOO good sat the transitions into the ads. Can't even be annoyed by them.
I swear that eagle vs turtle VOD must be TierZoo's favorite with how much he uses it
I love you please never stop. I honestly want all of my media content to come in this format...
Movies...
TV shows...
The News... god especially the news
It would be so cool. "Yesterday, Donald Trump called for a nerf on China. Meanwhile Xi Jinping complained about constant door camping and reported the NATO for exceeding the team size limit."
The America guild was in the patch notes today, Declaring a guild war on the China guild.
Consuming fish players has a chance of giving a sickness effect? Find out more at 6
Yeah, Peregrines are pretty notorious for min-maxing dive. Thought they were top tier. They got trolled pretty hard by human players using deet though.
human used DHT.... its super effective
To be fair, Human builds invalidate virtually every other build by a wide margin. There really should be a format for non-Human builds only.
@@Bluecho4 humans can craft and that just really is the end all be all. Wanna fly? We can craft it.
That's what happens when humans don't sufficiently test out AOE mods before allowing other players to install them; the respawn debuff it had on birds (not even the intended target!) was NASTY.
...heck, the whole topic of respawn debuffs just in general tends to get pretty nasty.
Their kids got yeeted by the deet-ed.
Love the little pixel animations
This channel is absolute genius, educational videos with an implementation of video game logic. Incredible. Keep up the good work!
I think a lot of people agree with me If I say we want an episode about Player Bases, like burrows, caves, nests...
I was literally looking at your channel today thinking "TierZoo hasn't posted in forever.”
Me too 😂
First off let me start by saying that I just recently discovered this channel and I love it..... now that that's out of the way i watched about 15-20 videos before i figured out this wasn't an actual game i almost went looking for it so I could start playing
Boy I love this channel, as a gamer. You had me at "New Zealand" with the Dark Souls sound :)
As a Dungeons and Dragons DM, I can safely tell you:
Yes.
Yes, they are.
Lol
was it the same guy who played the bard that fucked you up with a flier
"You come across a large chasm, full of aci-"
"I cast Fly on myself."
laughs in aarakocra
As a sorcerer player.
Yes absolutely flight is the best.
Tier zoo: cliffs can only be reached by mountain goats and flyers.
Gecko mains: observe.
This is by far the best learning youtube channel and it puts learning on a whole new level!
Hey, man, I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your videos. Keep it up!
I love u take as long as you want as long your videos are this high quality
Title: Are Flying Builds OP?

@@AggressiveAegyo so flight in outer space wouldn't make sense 😁
3:27 snow leopards: I’m going to act like I didn’t hear that.
I really enjoyed the video just because of how fun it is.
TierZoo (paraphrase): "Flight requires the user to sacrifice a ton of hp and defense points to spec into, opting for things like hollow bones and better eyesight to detect stealth builds."
Bat: "Am I a joke to you?" *echolocates brown moth on brown tree and flies off with mammalian bomes and superior aerodynamics*
wdym bat builds are even more fragile than bird builds
0:33 i feel that cat.
This guy been doing tier lists before they were cool
btw did you know that "Tier" is the german word for "Animal" it's a funny Coincidence
Tier lists have been a thing since early Esports i think
That bee getting yeeted from that hummingbird was pretty damn hilarious.

Bird: flies away**
Cat: *DIES*
Hm i feel like the huge amount of energy necessary to fly shouldve been mentioned as a drawback. Otherwise freaking cool video, always love your content
Yeah, also, many flying builds are highly vulnerable to air pollution, due to the high ammounts of air/oxygen they have to consume while flying. This can even be a life threatening problem, and would have been a good addition to the list.
Erick Eudave Still, the toxins are more damaging at low altitudes and are only dangerous to them because of their metabolism hidden stat. They’re technically the safest of all due to many aerosol toxins being heavier than air.
Robin Matz Oh yeah and also flight’s startup stamina penalty is awful, but the secret passive regens such as the flying-V formation and the glides and updrafts used by the predatory bird guild actually give a high enough energy regen that those builds could feasibly stay in the air nearly infinitely. Well, if they had food up there, at least.
Yeah birds need to eat a crazy amount
Many flying builds have remarkable endurance and can fly for hours to days without rest. I don't think the energy requirement is worth mentioning unless they have a problem acquiring energy anyway.
Hey, I really love your content, and I was wondering if you are planning or could make a whole video about ants. The ant world is so diverse, and I think that a video from you about them would be an amazing video
AntsCanada crossover vid!
@@NozomuYume that's a good idea
I think I would prefer a video that was a tier list of ants, bees, and wasps because those last 2 options would help show how powerful the esocial trait is.

he's commin for that bird booty.
Dude, you missed one of the biggest drawbacks to the flying builds: Metabolism. The flight ability drains XP like nothing else short of a big brain, and to add insult to injury, you need a relatively high INT just to do all that 3D maneuvering. If you wanna fly, you have to constantly forage for food, otherwise it's starvation and game over. The bird build even puts points into unidirectional air flow through its lungs--yeah, it needs so much oxygen that if it had normal lungs it would literally suffocate. Is it worth it? Well--yeah. But you're gonna spend most of your playtime searching for food.
You wanna get unlimited XP from humans, there's better builds to do it with. Try rat. Your respawn rate is gonna be so extreme you can zerg rush your way past the predators and it doesn't even matter how many of you they eat. You even get the poison resistance special ability if you spawn into a city where rats have an established base.
@kek kek I think they're two equally valid strategies. You go with pigeon, sure, you can fly and you have a better matchup against cats; but on the other hand, your respawn rate is only moderately good; plus, you can be KO'd by a friggin window. Whereas, the if you go rat, you can get eaten by a cat, poisoned, trapped, whatever, it doesn't matter--you just spawn right in again. Sure, humans are gonna try to go after you, but you're way more maneuverable than they are, and they hardly ever use ferrets or terriers as support anymore, especially not in cities. And if you get enough XP, you can even get big enough to take on a lower-level cat. Or you can go the support route yourself and have the humans keep and feed you directly. I think the rat is much more likely to stay viable long-term, and besides, like you said, pigeon quests are boring.
You know that's actually one of the biggest questions/challenges to theropod to avian evolution. The reptilian to avian lung would require an evolution which has a middle step where the lungs don't work. This either means we have the evolutionary path wrong or there's some convoluted mutation we may never understand
That honeybee just got wombo combo'd
Not even, it just got brushed off by those afk farmers.

Some other counters are Ice, rock, and electric types.
Not in this game.
Also the weakness to stealth rocks cripples them
But, immunity to EQ is a pretty sweet trade-off.
This is legit my new favorite channel.
i would really love to here more about the devs. You have mentions them a few time, but it would be cool to know more about them
