Any video - long, short, is appreciated. I’d rather have five minutes of quality time than an hour of hemming, hawing and unnecessary dross. Thank you for the updates.
George, as I listened to this a second time I heard some exhaustion in your voice, take good care and, as always, appreciate the guided tour of embodying aspirations, #2!
I'm soo STOKED for a promaster build! The HumbleRoad way of course :)
Great video George! We feel
the same. Love our teamwork. 🚐
Hi guys im big fans you guys work is the best around pls keep up the good work. & George wouldnt know how he would get along w/o u.😉😁😎
My apologies for nit picking, but I spent a few years binge watching Mike Holmes with Holmes on Homes. :-)
I am familiar, I watched as well!
Hey it keeps you Humble. Right!? I’m enjoying seeing you figure out the ProMaster. And I like hearing the differences from the Sprinter. The shorter videos are fine. We just like seeing your progress each week. Cheers!
It's going to be a Mona Lisa! Can't wait to see the finished product! Keep up the good work!
I know exactly what you mean! Sometimes a week goes by and we haven't touched our van build but our brains are exhausted! Loving the build, keep going :D
Your the magic george.... great work !
Hang in there, doing great, day at a time.
I don’t have time for the Carry on channel, too, right now, but, thanks for the share… thnx.
It's gonna be a awesome and beautiful van when you guys are done can't wait.
1950’s Art Deco!😲I’m salivating with excitement to see that. I’m happy you have 3 of you guys working on van 02. As exhausting as I’m sure it is, with some help it’s going a bit faster I bet. Some day you’ll look back at your first builds and wonder how you ever got them done. As much as you are learning you are also educating so many others. Your generous sharing I’m sure is inspiring many others to tackle their own builds with you as their professor 👨🏫. Some of us can only admire and get in line to get a Humble Road creation. I went to the California RV show recently and one of the conversion companies required a deposit and then you were given a start date 12 months from the date of the deposit. And that’s a whole company. Conversions take time and conversions at the level of your are worth waiting for. Enjoy the process as much as we viewers enjoy watching. George you know what they say about all work and no play? The van is looking great already. Very nice bones 🦴, can’t wait to see more. 🚐🐝
I truly am enjoying every minute of this new journey I'm on! Even the difficult times have the sweet aroma of being alive with purpose!
Thank you George! Van is looking awesome love 80/20 build. 👍😍
#627! Thanks 4 sharing.
Way to go George! I love seeing your work and listening to you explain the process. How you do these customized van conversions are just amazingly to the T, and thanks for videoing your artistic journey!
Planning early and intensifying the design saves huge time and effort from rework later. Excellent.
You are amazing George, SO thorough and innovative. Can't wait to see what's next.
I am beyond excited to see your creation for the Carey's when it is completed. You've designed by examination things manufacturers have never addressed. Your level of expertise is beyond them to say the least. I'd go so far as to refer to you as "genius". These days there are so few that do NOT compromise in their execution of design. Keep doing the amazing job you do.
Thank you Lee. Very kind of you.
Enjoying following along on this build for the Carey's. Your first build turned out great, with so much attention to detail. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Looking forward to each new video..very interesting. Thanks
George, you are doing an incredible job of bridging old school ways and new school ways in both life and tech I find. It is really something to watch. Since you are the Sinatra of Van Life, we are lucky to have you once a week (again) and like Ol Blue Eyes, you leave us wanting more my friend. I wondered at the outset how the 3 of you managed to build a plan, not just a van, on how to work as a team and you answered that today for us also. Tell the Carey's I said hi. Have a nice week guys.
Thank you Barry!
Hey George, don’t worry about time for sharing, just keep doing what you do because you do it so well. You have a loyal following so...chill George and go eat lunch!
Love your designs and use of materials as well as pre-planning, I think you make the best build-outs on youtube!
Thanks for the BTS George. You're building slowly slowly and going along nicely. So much good things to come from the Humble Road studios ✌🏾✌🏾
Looking GOOD...👍
I love how detailed your content is! I’m left with very few questions
Awesome! Thank you!
I just started watching you a week ago, I am so hooked, love your creativity and how you always improve the process. You have the strongest and best looking. Thanks
Welcome!!
looking Great!
😁✌️ wow you are pushing the quality of vans ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
Van 02 will be just as beautiful
I have been following you and Carey on Vagabond for a long while. I love that we get both of your perspectives and video content on this build. It’s looking great, George!
BuckO Seven Thanks!!😊
so wish your videos were longer, Every time you leave us wanting MORE :)
Then I've done my job! 😋
Hi George hats off to your brilliance you are the man. & in many ways i wish my man. lol. no really though i wish i could say im joking. I give this vid 4.0 out of 5 your awesome George😙🤗🙋🏾♀️
Like to see the more in future of this van build.so keep it up.take care bye.sir
Love projected
Your awesome
No detail left out!
So love your videos... wish you would have a library detailed step by step. Can you sell a complete kit on each stages for a novice to buy
Can't rush perfection! =]
That looked like beer for breakfast. 🍻
Very good! Your working hard man! Isn’t funny that the older we get the harder we work?! 😜
Keeps us young. One word I never consider; retire.
Lookin good & so is the van 😊...l'll get my coat 🤣
I want a Promaster build! 62-year-old woman. I want twin fixed beds that can work as seating during the day with throw pillows.
You're in luck! I happen to have a Promaster AND a 62 year old woman! 😄
and about those throw pillows, I'm the king of Feng Shui!
Humble Road 🤣🤣🤣
I have been watching another channel for 3 years because he is incorporating a Murphy bed in his build. At his rate I hope he lives long enough to finish it. Compared to that pace You are screaming along on your builds. I start every one of your videos with a thumbs up.
Thank you J. G. I know you've been a part of this channel for a long time as well. Oh! You're talking about the Ford Transit conversion, I watch him from time to time.
Chamfer the leading edge, one of the "secrets of life".
Details.
Thanks for the insight and bringing us along during the process.
George? Did I miss what AC unit there using. Was hoping to see a DC unit and AC unit that only can be used when you are plugged in. I using a Proair unit with 600 Amp Hours of Battleborn and I get about 8 hours of run time as long as it's below 95 and the humidity is not to high. If it's 100 & 100% humidity, well I get only about 5 hours. It seems to work for me. George, keep'em coming!!!!! A+++
With the 600Ahr Lithionics battery and a Xantrex 3012, the Dometic will have plenty of power all night long. Video to come, stay tuned!
Unmatched attention to detail - hugely impressed! For your European fans can you tell us which height the Promaster(Ducato) is, H2 or H3.
czcams.com/video/UM-6jqfxGgI/video.html
In order for you to claim its support is to tie in the cleats primarily into the box beams in front and in back. Those box metal channels that cross the van from side to side is your support, and your point loads.
Eric say it another way, otherwise I’ll have to rewatch the video to understand your point.
Nearly 21,000!
I would urge you to figure out a way to do that, might take some custom bent brackets, but that is your true support. Just my thoughts.
Glue it!
Screw it!
Sounds like a plan.
💜💜💜💜💜
Smile George, you are an artist creating a masterpiece. Did they question Rembrandt when he was painting the Sistine Chapel or van Gogh when he made the moaning Lisa?
Moaning Lisa!? I would definitely take my time with that one...
Fantastic. If I were you I wud bring in an unpaid vanlifer intern to help with filming, misc. Jobs, etc. in exchange for a free place to park their mobile home for a month at a time. Do you have a shower and oven in yr shop?
First, one of my favorite people once said; "George is a videographer who builds vans." And she is correct. I won't give up the visual aspect of this journey. And for the record, anyone who comes in to assist in the production of a Humble Road van must be a very unique self motivated individual. A thinker. A shower and an oven are not lofty enough goals for my crew..and I don't mean this in a condescending way. I want talented individuals who understand the road I'm on.
Hi George , unless I missed it I noticed you did not use mass vinyl on the Carey s Promaster subfloor vs your first Sprinter build , is there a reason ? Although heavy I like the sound deadening and insulation properties of the vinyl material but then what size Mass Vinyl would you advise Promaster vanbuilders on (Floor/sides/roof) ? thank you for such great quality content and raising the bar. 🙏 👌
We had some tight interior height concerns and the ceiling was where the most insulation needed to be. Soooo, HMV in the ceiling but not in the floor. Every 1/4 inch counts!
Vapor Barrier question - does thinsulate have a built in vapor barrier? If it does, and if the glue you use to hold the thinsulate in place acts as a vapor barrier too and the rigidfoam insulation certainly does then you might be looking at three vapor barriers which is a water trap concern right??
The Thinsulate glue is merely 3M 90 spray adhesive. The white fiber in the Thinsulate bat is considered air space. None of the layers are tight enough against one another to trap any moisture.
With all due respect, I come from a construction building back ground in residential and commercial buildings and one thing I have been told and have learned the hard way is that the goal is to have one vapor barrier only. The separation, however small or large in a wall cavity, between the two barriers is not the issue but the fact that there are more than one vapor barriers creates a place for water to collect and promote mold growth. Additionally, unless the glue is water based, it also can contribute to water retention by acting as a vapor barrier.
I'm no expert in vapor hydrodynamics, just asking a question so I can understand what's right and not.
When is your van build how to book coming out
Oye vey! OK, I'll get started... 🤓
George, I have question - do you have an opinion about Azdel vs Luan for the specific applications in your build; when you have time - thanks!
Very insightful Alex. Azdel would be my first choice, but I cannot find a resource where I can buy less than 200 sheets at a time. Small potato that I am...☹️
Hello from Oz, I'm about to pick up the profile and want to double check you used 40mm, 45mm or 50mm for the T-Slot? Cheers 👍
1.5 inch fractional and 1 inch fractional
Very cool build so far but do not do semigloss on the ceiling you will hate it. Do satin. In the tiny space you will get way to much reflection from the semigloss. I paint a lot. A house interior 2 or 3 times month.
Good point! Thank you!
I’m wanting to do van. Have you done a van where you have a separate shower and toilet stall? My girlfriend is really apprehensive about some of these “exposed” toilet areas where all you have is a shower curtain. I think she would prefer a solid wall all around. You think it’s possible to have both and still have a comfortable van?
Almost anything is possible!
So i only have about 10k to spend on a van, but the mechanics of the van are very important to me. Something that was well maintained and will last for a long time and not break down constantly.
What would you recommend, transit (i like the size) or pro master?
Which one gets better value for the money for around 10k?
Prefer gas, prefer no windows
For that amount of money, you need to give which ever van you prefer a good inspection. If $10K is the max, I would search for a $7,000 van and reserve $3,000 for repairs.
George, I'd love to see you build out an extended WB Ford Transit at some point. I still think the Sprinter is the best overall package among the available vans, but the Transit is a close 2nd and a bit less expensive. However, I'm just not a fan of the Promaster or Fiat-Chrysler, in general. It's not as well built as the others vans and its long-term reliability won't be as good either. It won't hold up as well over many years of use, so I'm not sure the cost savings are worth it if you plan to own the van for many years. I plan to purchase exactly 1 van when I retire and I want it to last for as long as I do, hopefully for decades. In any case, your design prowess is always on full display, so I'd happily take any van converted by you...great work! :)
I agree the Sprinter is in a league all it's own. Nothing close. Having said that, it doesn't mean that is the best choice. Sprinters have their unique issues. Drawbacks. I would not stand firm with any absolutes, each van has it's good and bad, otherwise there would be only one that sells at all!
I do have a potential client waiting for the redesigned Transit coming this Summer. Hopefully I will have the privilege of building it for him.
What size water tank is that under the kitchen galley? and where can I find it online?
Nice bones...
Can you sell a kit for each van in stages: all cut out and ready to assemble. i.e. a kit with everything for the pro master .
Sure. But first I have to go on Shark Tank to get the financing! 😎
Do you treat the wood that you use for support? I assume it collects humidity and might get moldy if not treated.
Air flow
How do we contact you about building us a Promaster ?
georgemauro@humbleroad.tv
@@HumbleRoad you know your impeccable reputation follows you when being tracked for contractual work. U & your team R doing amazing work, George.
Where do you buy your 8020? I'm seeing a lot of different prices and proportions online so no easy explanations.
I buy from 8020 directly.
Humble Road oof those prices though. It must cost 5k to frame one of your vans. I love the modularity of the system but it’s gotta be 4x the cost of a TIG welded aluminum square tube system. At those prices I would copy the 80/20 framing and weld the final product
I C 2 vans in the shop. How many are you building simultaneously?
The Promaster is the Vagabond van. The Sprinter is my Pleasure-Way I am upgrading to sell.
Hey George, I would urge you to minimize your use of thick pine wood in your framing or other aspects of fabrication. Thick wood is susceptible to warping and movement from humidity absorption, not a good attribute for framing a ceiling fan. Baltic birch is much more stable, even though you'd have to fabricate 1 inch thick material yourself.
Agreed.
Where do you work? How do we get to work with/hire you?
My shop is in New Jersey. At the moment, I am booked up until November 2020.
Humble Road. Great! Are you meeting up with new potential clients? How do clients reach you?
I just called to get a price on a pro master long wheel base tall at least 3/4 ton V8 gas ⛽️ work van to see what that part cost I did want back up camera and electric windows and door locks side view cameras if available. The dodge Dealer is checking
Hey George, I've been thinking about the framing that you do for the fans you install, and want to point out an important engineering concept I have learned from being homeowner. That framing around the fan is good, and it definitely distributes the load across the sheet metal roof, but it is NOT a support.
Agreed it spreads the load. And if it is tied into the roof struts, as mine are, then it also offers support similar to a joist.
Sir, do you do email communication, or perhaps Instagram?
georgemauro@humbleroad.tv
Not so sure I’d want my van to be build by a small company, today they are in business, tomorrow maybe not and if something goes wrong, which eventually will, you’re stock with the van that nobody can service
Don’t you dare include me in that sentiment.
@@HumbleRoad WOW, are you intending to live forever??? There’s absolutely no guarantee that a few people company can be in business even next 5 years and it’s not like you charge way less than established reputable companies, chance they would be in business way higher. No offense, but personally I’d rather stick to established companies even though I might like your custom build vans better
