Back in the day the sadf was labelled as one of the best military forces in the world as was their equipment and amunition they produced,so proud to have been a small part of it....and so sad to see how pathetic and unproductive it became under anc rule.

I never did anything heroic but i did serve and this made me cry in parts especially looking back to how powerful this country was and the utter contempt i have for De Klerk and all those that sold us out the cowards they mock those brave men and boys that lost their lives protecting those worthless pieces of garbage may they rot in hell i pray God looks with favour on his people once more and grants us the power to remove this evil that has descended upon us i refuse to go quietly into the night -- thanks for the memories God bless

Yesterday in Pittsworth, Queensland, a guy came into the hardware shop where I work. He was wearing a shirt with a Serengeti emblem. He was from Rhodesia, been here 20 years, I have been here 25 years.
I have never seen such an influx of boere, farmers, mechanics and hairdressers.
I like catching them in the shop, hulle praat die taal, maar ek verstaan. Some good laughs.

For me camp was sooo unreal...especially my stint at the border...It was hell in Mozambique during the Rhodesian conflict... But thank God I survived it.. It was the best time of my life... I am a 70yrs now... Hahaa. Olde soldiers never die they just grow old gracefully... Hah. It ain't no matter whether we won or lost anything... Yeah family and friends O. K. But the sheer dedication time and effort we put into the fight...WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN... Peace be with U all.

My heart was sad and happy, sad that we have lost the law and order of the old South Africa and happy that I lived through those times and got to witness what South Africa was and still could be.
For people from overseas looking at these images. This was the old South African Defence Force that developed its own weapons despite sanctions and had an army of well trained men and for a brief period in history was probably on par with the IDF.
I served in the SADF in 1987/8, never went to the border but lived the feelings of the people who did and I salute those that did their duty on the border.

He’s father came over from the RAF n joined the SAAF, working on radar at NADS Devon n then the SAN on minesweepers and the SAS Protea inSimonstown .. my hubby did his national service n is proud of it!! I know the Brits where a sell out nation to the aftrikaaners. But there are some of us that support you! My hubby hates what the Brits did to the boers! The boers are a very proud people. This is how the SADF was before the ANC changed it all and filled it with low quality personnel. It is now a shambolic shadow of its former self. If it had to face an enemy now it would probably run away! No leadership, no discipline, not much of anything really.

Bbrilliant video,thank you Gerald, but no mention of us navy sailors on Strike Craft, Subs, Frigates, and Mine Sweepers....we did just as much in our effort..especially us Strike Crafr boys and our Submarine brothers.....and of course the lads from Donkergat. It was a pleasure to serve with you all for the 25yrs of my military career in the SADF. God Bless you all, you will never be forgotten!

Ons het mekaar se lewe gered en verkook tot op die einde. Is daar nie n paar video's wat die brein en swart ouens se bydrae ook uit wys nie?
Ons almal was trots op ons weermag en land maar ons is diep hartseer oor hoe ons gedamp was as soldate in Suid Africa en Namibia.
Die vyand is nou ons baas en regeerings.
Ek het baie vriende wit , bruin en swart verloor in die oorlog. Ek het nog n seep bakkie van n wit vriend Jansen van Rensburg wat langs my gesterf het.
Daar is groot foute gemaak deur die politisie. Ek was valskerm.

I like most did my 2 Years national service with pride. We served and protected an amazing country not for apartheid but to prevent the Hell that now has overwhelmed a once civilised country. Those who gave their lives did not do so in vane but gave life to many for years to come before 1994. My flag will only eve be the orange white and blue which I keep in my home. For me it was a flag of honour, glory and pride. A military force I'm proud to have served in and served with many good guys and trained by many officers who gave myself and many before and after me skills and leadership you'll never get in civilian life...."ons vir jou Suid Afrika".
