Michael Allen Al is a man of few words. Have known him ( sort of) for years. Not really surprised how well he comes across. So knowledgeable with so much. No talking, no background music, and no fancy work gloves.!!😂

That description at the start was solid! Just honest mechanic knowledge. "Yeah we could make it pretty, but this car isn't meant to be pretty. We want function, and to do that, this is the best way to do it".
    Love it

I love the way you do things, Al. The solid, simple, and practical reasons you make any changes are easy to understand. This is what happens when the person designing things is the same person who has to work on them when something goes wrong, and it's refreshing to see.

    I've had a Nissan Patrol Y60 myself, RD28 though.
And that had overheating issues because I had a crash in it, cracked the cooler without noticing, and ended up cracking the head.
So, an engine swap later, it ran perfectly, sold it, and still see it driving around from time to time.

One reason for overheat is that the coolant does not move a lot in the head. People also make additional coolant outlet to the head.

I'm surprised you fellas haven't considered the old landcruisers, specifically the 40 series to the 75 series, they all had the mighty 2H motor in them which are known to get over a million K's out of them or better yet the 12HT if your into the turbo's, but whatever floats your goat
