Loving the real Aussie, real budget, real life 4WD experience for the everyday worker. Had to get a hoodie to support. Well done boys, keep it up.
six cyl diesel with a turbo is a good sound
Good job boys. Just one thing you should really use the steel gasket from the turbo gus on the manifold those gasket yous got will blow out eventually
100% correct. Need steel to survive the heat. I'll give the gasket used maybe one or two weeks.
Yep this needs to be pinned. They’re not gonna last
Keep it up lads! Loving watching the channel!
Got my sticker the other day guys , loving the videos , fast becoming my fav channel !
Good to have a channel that has sum patrols
Keep up the good work
Man I’m literally doing this in hopefully next couple months this really helped honestly thanks
Good job lads. Did the same fitment of a turbo on mine years ago using parts from all over. Brought back memories watching you guys do it :p Had a chuckle with that oil feed elbow leaking as I had the same problem when testing haha.
I've got two wagons 1 turbo which I've just put an intercooler on and doing the brakes and 1 NA which is a project waiting to happen , your gonna love the extra oomph it's got when you need it. Time to see you guys in action again!
Great job with the merch guys. Wish I could get some
Congrats on your TDed NA patrol. 😱😀
Can't wait to see more videos about it. 😁
So good seeing this channel explode. You tube channels done right
Love your episodes
Thanks mate! :)
Great work mate. Hope it all works out well for you. Great work on the knowledge of your job too. Cheers guys
Keep up the Good Content Lads Good stuff!
Good to see a coupla local blokes doin well on the tubes, keep up the good work fellas 👍
Being sussing out those jrp multi guages for a while now, keen to see the install
Turbo spool smile, love it. Cheers from the states love the vids.
Another great video fellas.....awesome. Just on the manifold nuts- I think they may just be copper plated. Pure copper nuts would not normally be used in high stress applications but I’ll stand corrected. Using a magnet on the nuts should confirm that. The copper also would provide an anti seize property....no need for antiseize compounds.
Great content lads. Subscribed!
Good to see you fellas having a go and doing it (mostly) right. Get her fuelled right and you'll have 2 x torque over factory at least, much more economical on highways too. TD42 is a great motor, treat it right and you'll get another few hundred thousand clicks out of her.
Good work young fella 👌
Had to do the same job with an exhaust stud on a 1KZ-TE a little while ago and used the same right-angle chuck to get buggered one out. Why is it ALWAYS the one in the worst position that is the broken one 🤔😄
Awesome to see you having a crack with turbo-ing the Patrol and was stoked to see it run after 👍👍👍
Great job boys
Love it also just ordered a shirt and a sticker of course lol cheers guys
Making “hand sanitiser” in the background….. nice! Lol
Was looking for that comment😁
Awesome to see a turbo being done on the channel! Been thinking of doing the same so this is a great resource for myself! Am wondering if that na pipe between the air boxes hasn’t got any cracks in it? Mines a bit worse for wear haha. Great vid 🤙
I can’t wait for this one woooooooooo!!!!!!!!
Job well done 🤘
0 dislikes.. Goes to show how good this stuff is! Good work fellas
Yt doesn't show the number of dislikes anymore. 😉😂 But, great video of course.
Very keen to see how those gauges work. nearly bought them my self a while ago when doing my build up. Still keen and curious to see how they go
Sounds sooo good ill tinker around with my 60 then come inside watch one of your vids and want to get back outside and keep doing stuff to mine hahah
Reasonable build for the ordinary man. Great video
Wicked ,can’t wait to turbo my gq
Keep posted on the fuel part. I've always wanted to do this, everything you did is easy IMO but the part that I don't understand is how fuel tunning is done on the TD42. Thx for video!
I did the bottom end bearings while the sump was off more for oil pressure reasons. They are cheap and if they are old and worn oil pressure will become an issue with more pressure from boost. Like your channel
Kids a full blown mechanic 👨🔧
Sounds sick
Beli beli gud ! Talented !
Awesome vid boys took me back to my youth. Boomer Jones
Keep an eye on the silicone joiners on a intake, they can suck in as they don't have a metal wire inside them keeping it open under acceleration
Nice Dawn vice - I have a vintage one of those, 55kg, crazy heavy.
Hello from the US. I ordered a shirt from you guys and paid more for shipping haha.
Love the content keep it up!
Yota>Nissan
Great progress on the beast. Maybe install one of those boost/egt gauges in one. Maybe a redarc branded item??
What a pleasure to work on,could do it anywhere with basic tools, try that with new Nissan diesels with a wiring loom the size of a python!
Definitely need it tuned
1 of the best upgrades you'll do mate
I brought a 3"gu exhaust system off ebay for $400 and only had to mod a bracket or 2 if that helps mate
The water line from the thermostat housing to the turbo, the mounting tabs don’t bolt to the rocker cover they bolt to the turbo manifold!
Grouse vid. Loved the brazing part. Just remember to always keep a hand on the steering wheel.
Nice one gents!
My turbo is a high flow turbo and I had to run a 4inch airbox and 4inch snorkel and 4inch pipes to 2.5inch turbo intake cause it didn’t get enough air thru a 3inch pipes
Heavy diesels use a pressurised tank to feed oil back through the turbo when you shut the engine off I know a guy in Perth that has one fitted to his Jackaroo guy is a legend and his Jackaroo is pretty impressive.
Best content
Cheers Josh!
10:25 You might end up with a rocker cover leak if you've got the rubber washers on top of that hose bracket. Jussayin'
Mad!
Looking good, I hope you use the oil resistant hose on the oil return to the sump Utara, otherwise I have seen none oil resistant hose go to shit
Beautiful
I definitely saw Patrick at the Grampians
Excellent 👍👍👍
I did the same exercise with a dts system on an identical ute, I loved it! The reason I love your channel cause you do similar stuff to me and my mates! Legends 👏👏
Keen two see what the next few steps do to it
Congrats on the build boys. i was just wonderin how much roughly this cost as i was thinking about swapping a turbo onto my TD42.
hey mate just found your vid welcome to the turbo life
i was wondering what the mirrors are like on your ute was looking at getting some also
cheers
@aussie arvos, keen to get some input on the mirrors aswell. Did you guys do a vid on it at all?
Hi Guys, yeah we did do a video on them czcams.com/video/5mkpcROHuH8/video.html
Can you post the price list of it all, just curious what it cost you all to do this, love the vids boys 🔥
Job bois🤙👍
Thanks Aidan!
@liam, 8:14... its not about the overall ID of the piping. it more to do with the restriction on the air as it flows through the piping. the way you have a gradual reduction is great. it would be wrong to say "just because the turbo inlet is 2", the 3" inlet at the airbox is useless". If you want some further reading seek out "reducer k value" for some info.
Nice work. We dont agree on the gasket bit either. you should put a smear of goo on the gasket to ensure it will seal. especially on older second hand manifold because they have been heat cycled they are more like to have small surface imperfection which the goo would help to seal on.
Theres always one ..hey boys !!!!
@@mickmay6569 doing things right mate...im sure you another DumBFuCk Patrol owner... its ok
@@bjones5240 God made patrols to keep retards out landcruisers haha
Sometimes it's not worth the hassle trying to help people
You should put in a top mount intercooler
Water cooling a turbo will be an extra load on the cooling system. However, pumping oil through a turbo will also increase load on the oil system/temps….. pretty much 1 for 1…. It’s either the oil system by itself absorbing the heat, or the oil and cooling system absorbing the heat. Distributing the load between the 2. I’d prefer to keep water cooling if it’s accommodated for in the turbo.
Might wanna run a front mount. Just speaking from experience x great video tho
It sounds better than mine 1hdt
Will you do a review on the supernova spotties ?
Wow$ 58.70 to ship a t-shirt to the USA nice video guys
Awesome job guys! - Suggest you and the boys cut your hoodie strings as there is nothing worse than having your face pulled into a fan.
Not bad guys
Fuck yes boys!!!!!
When possible do the airbox lid mod to get more air flow
But apparently having the intake biggee than 2" wont matter. Haha
Hey boys where’d you get the right angle drill adaptor from?
When’s the merch coming?
So what the plan with Liam and this Partrol is he planning to keep it long term etc?
Turbo = 😃
Bit of a tip for people who are just getting into cars make sure you use the correct hose for the purpose, there are different hoses for oil, water, fuel lines low or high pressure, in tank fuel line and extenal use fuel lines and so on.
Great video as always boys 👍🏻
Thanks Paddy! great advice!
Please make a 3 inch side pipe. They sound too good to run it out the back.
Have you guys ever turboed a mazda r2 2.2 diesel ?
Where are the weather shields on the windows from
Needs a pump now. Sounds tough as
Is it even turboed if you don't get pen and put a T on the 42D sticker
TD42 is the name of the motor, it doesn't stand for Turbo Diesel 4.2. Just like the ZD30, and RD28, they are just names of the engine, cause both of those motors are turbo diesel, but aren't called TD30 or TD28
@@riotousftp8582 guess we've never heard of sarcasm
@@matthewtunbridge1808 more of a joke then sarcasm, I had a good laugh over it I was just telling you that that’s not what it means, your comment was funny
@@riotousftp8582 you should tea bag a turbo at full noise.
Noo dont end it before tues i want some merch
Where it like tapered down maybe!
Awesome stuff can't wait to get my first 4wd. Only runnin a Holden cruze 🤣 planning on getting a navara lol
how did you tune for the turbo?
Привет, ТНВД и форсунки менял от TD42T?
Albo fitting
hay when are you guyes going to drive ye old racing tipper to the pub the video has got more than 1k likes now
My wife 8:27
Lol
Take it to Turbo Enginerring in thomastown for a tune mate don’t do it yourself. A professional safe tune she will last forever
Those factory gu airboxs suck absolute dick at sealing at the lid, don’t count on it if your stuck in a deep river, I’d be looking at a aftermarket one mate
How many kms does the patrol have on the clock
What size is this turbo?
Coil swap coming soon?????
The air travelling through the 3 inch 135 degree pipe ( not 45 ), and into a 2 inch inlet, actually cools the air down more.
Air cools as it is compressed.
Hold your hand in front of your mouth and blow air out with a minimal hole between your lips, then do it with your mouth wide open.
It's the same way you blow air to cool a burnt finger, or how you do to warm up cold hands.
Don't think you are right with that. Why does an air pump heat up when used? Gaylussac's Gas Law which states: “The pressure of a gas of fixed mass and fixed volume is directly proportional to the gas's absolute temperature.” Or simply the temperature of a gas increases with an increase in its pressure.
@@bobklincke4671
So why do fridges, freezers, air conditioners etc have inbuilt compressors ?
To heat things up ?
@@bobklincke4671
Google " why is compressed air so cold ".
It explains fridge's, freezers, air conditioning etc.
Your welcome. 👍
@@ratedxxxable hey King, it’s comes out cold because the compressed air has been brought down to room temperature, meaning that the air cools once you let it expand again as you’ve taken out the energy already.
“Compressing the air makes the molecules move more rapidly, which increases the temperature. This phenomenon is called “heat of compression”.”
