- Fiskars manual reel mower striping kit. This week I wanted to build a striping kit for a Fiskars manual reel mower. It had to be easy to put on and take off and it had to be really inexpensive.
The parts I used were:
- some 3 inch PVC pipe
- a couple of caps for the PVC
- a broken broom handle
- a leftover 30" stake from our playground border
- a couple of turnbuckles
- some rocks
- a couple of clevis pins
- a couple of hitch pin clips
- a couple of washers
Hi! Recently I bought the same fiskars reel mower and trying to figure out a DIY striping kit. I also would like to get the recessed end caps like yours but I can't find on Home Depot/Lowe's websites. Which department can I find at in stores ??
Were you able to back up the mower without any issue?

Hello, the caps are in the same aisle as the other caps. As far as backing up the mower it works okay. It is definitely not the greatest setup. I would like to replace the front wheels with a conveyor roller at some point and ideally replace the back wheels with a roller somehow. But, this was a quick and easy way to get striping.
@@AndrewPlett Thank you. For a quick setup, yours is good! We all improve things as we go :) I have seen someone on CZcams who installed a conveyor roller at the front. I wondered if the conv roller would knock down grass prior to reaching to the blades? I'm so new to reel mowing, so I'm trying to learn. So far I'm crushing my grass pretty bad 😧 guessing I'm letting grass grow too tall for fiskars.. Anyways, thanks for your response! Your vid gave me some ideas!
lol You still use this striper and would want to sell it to me? Should be light to ship unweighted right? Or how much would it cost to build if I paid you? I have the staysharp max which I believe is 18in width
Does that fiskar mower have a problem with water and rusting? Do you have to wipe it dry every time or can you abuse it a bit?
ive seen one left outside unprotected for several years with no rust.
Do you have a video of how to adjust the blades on this because I have the same one but mowing my yard always gets stuck in the grass
If you are trying to cut off too much material, your reel is probably getting bogged down. Try raising your height of cut and see if that helps. With the reel mower, you are going to have to mow more frequently in order for it to be easy to push.
