I hear a 32 mm socket over the sprocket works also. I just bought mine so I’m only speaking of what I’ve seen. I did replace,ace the front two wheels with a conveyor belt roller so I can get the cut down well below an inch if I like. I really do like the mower though. Therapeutic it is mowing with a reel mower.

Why not just tighten a half inch drill chuck on the shaft
you simply could've used a piece of garden hose and hose clamps to connect the drill for the backlapping
You should just leave the sprocket on and just uses the 1 1/4 socket. It should fits perfectly and start sharpening.

32 mm I heard which I’m sure convert to same size. I haven’t tried yet on mine as I just bought it.
