A&M's one of three elite programs in all of college football. If they had a Nick Saban or Kirby Smart, A&M would be a national contender every year.
When you get a lot of 5 star recruits you're expected to win championships and A&M has gotten a lot of 5 star players. They just need a real head coach and assistant coaches.
Texas A&M has not been relevant in decades on the national scale, give or take a year here and there.
If I was Liepold or Klieman I would be cautious about TAMU as there are too many folks pulling the strings there

I could have told you this was going to be the outcome 7 years ago. In fact I predicted this.
As Seminoles fan for 55 years, so did I.
I remember most fans wanted him out even though he had won a championship a couple of years earlier, but it was obvious he wasn’t a very good coach outside of recruiting. Every game we went into felt like a game we could lose with him when he didn’t have Jameis. I always went into every game anxious of a team outplaying us and the opponent’s coach, out-coaching him. Most were glad he was leaving. The ego hit of him leaving FSU on his own was the only reason some cared. He went 5-6 his last season. If other school had done any research and really looked into it, they would’ve realized he was not top tier and only won because of Jameis with a bunch of elite players. Seriously, that 2014 team was stacked top to bottom. Look up those players and how many top NFL players we had
Playing in the All Cupcake Conference all those years were easy wins for an above average coach. In the SEC, wins are a lot harder.
I don’t care who A&M will hire, but if new HC wants 10 years contract with 80M buyout go ahead to give him with 1 condition: if you don't improve next year, we have a right to kick you out without pay. In 3 years if you don't win the conference without pay, we will kick you out without pay. In 5 years if you don't win a national championship, we will kick you out without pay.
The buyout doesn't go down if Jimbo gets another job. It's fully guaranteed.
Not sure why he would get another job, at his age, if he is gonna lose that money. Nobody the level of A&M is gonna hire him. It’s like that golfer, his last name is Kim, he got an injury settlement of 10 million about 10 years ago. If he ever played another tour event he had to give the money back. When he went to A&M I said that he was just to cash in one more time before retirement, as he was already on the downward slope. wins to dollars, he's an embarrassment, but it was predictable. What wasn't predictable was A&M being so blind that they extended him instead of letting him go to LSU. At this point, it's a dysfunctional mess only coaches willing to just cash in and leave will take the job. You know, like Urban Myer.

Imagine expecting championships from a program that's not known for competing for them.. Tam has always been a middle tier school. Sometimes a surprise season from time to time, but never fully relevant. One championship in 39' doesn't make you a powerhouse program and expecting it to be is a failure on the media's part.

A&M top to bottom is more attractive than most any other major program. It's only setback has been coaching duds. Win a title at A&M and you're a king for life in the state. Yea texas has theirs from almost two decades ago, but they don't exactly love Mack Brown. They put it all on Vince Young, and he does deserve that, but a championship coach at A&M will probably carry more weight.

Fisher’s buddy Scott Woodward help him to get contract extension. When Woodward was A&M athletic director, he hired Fisher from Florida State with luxury contract. When he moved to LSU athletic directory 3 years ago he interviewed Fisher and acted like he will lure Fisher to LSU. A&M got the bait to give Fisher extension contract with buyout 77M. Aggies should remember this name besides Jimbo Fisher: Scott Woodhward.

There will be a new coach at LSU in 2 or 3 years if they don't win the championship. Only place that is safe from not winning a championship or conference is the big ten. With all the talent, with all the support, there is, something stinks in Texas. Is it a locker room fight over money? Is it a divided team between those who follow the rules and those who could care less, is it the dynamics of a dysfunctional team created years ago? No matter what it is, the real problem is culture. Now this Texas AM team will not be worth much until they allow some coach his full 5-7 years to produce a program. You have entered the coaching carousel, where every 2 or 3 years you'll be calling for the head of your current coach. Its a cycle we saw at LSU until Saban came in and took control over everything. He had a few mediocre years but we saw growth and we saw his commitment to win. Jimbo Fisher is a great offensive coordinator. Maybe not so good at the processes head coaches take on, but when it comes to X's and O's and getting the best out of his talent, he is my guy. The next head coach of Mississippi state needs to make that call.

These guys make no sense…this whole thing is about getting the top talent to come to your school. That is the reason coaches that have winning and especially a National Championship on their resume get the big jobs. You have to recruit! The young men getting recruited also want to win and don’t want to waste their time on a coach with no next level winning experience. Who cares what you did at “El Lasso State”.
Oh it's all about the top talent coming to your school.........I guess that's why Jimbo did so great this year, with the #1 class in 2022, who should all be sophomores and getting playing time.
