      You're right about Ares. Zeus couldn't stand him. He once said that if he wasn't his son that he would banish him the Tartarus Little publicized fact, Athena is the next in line on Olympus as she is Zeus' favorite and basically has the run of the place anyway. So there are no issues between them. Artemis adored Zeus and he loved her. Read the myth with Artemis' wish list where as a child she sat on Zeus' lap and asked for things. As I recall, it was, a silver bow, never to be wed, 50 nymphs as attendants, and the city of Ephesus.

      I know what the video says, but I happen to think that actual ancient Greek texts hold a little more value. The most detailed account of this little story is found in the Iliad. All we are told is that Hera, Poseidon and Athene thought to bind Zeus in chains (we are given no motive, nor are we told what they intended to do after this), but Thetis found out and called Briareos who scared the gods so bad that they gave up on the plan. We don't know what Zeus' reaction was or if he punished anyone.
      Apollo was made to build the walls of Troy because he had killed the kyklopses (the sons of Gaia and Ouranos) and yes Poseidon helped him, but there is no evidence he was forced by Zeus as a punishment for getting involved in that scheme. We can of course speculate, but that's all we can do.
      No mention is made regarding either Athene or Hera.

So yeah,She really is supposed to be his very first child and a smart one who takes after him a lot more than the others.
    So he dotes on her as his most favourite,followed by Apollo as his most favourite son *(so much so that both of then share a telepathic link.)* but Apollo was his divine bastard son cuz his mom was Leto so yeah,Not on the same level of favourite as Athena.
    Heracles is Zeus' most favourite mortal son. *(Although Heracles sorta dies and gains his divine form later and joins the rest in Olympus.)*
    So this playboy God not only has hundreds of bastard children over the centuries but also has three sets of favourites to classify some of them as well!?! Now that's a pro *player* move!?!?😂😲😖

    • @omniavanitas7893
      @omniavanitas7893 Před 2 lety +1

      This has nothing to do with her status as favourite daughter, but with a misunderstanding born from the mixing up of two distinct versions of the myth:
      In Homer's Iliad, the main as well as the earliest source for the binding of Zeus, the only rebelling gods mentioned by name are Hera, Poseidon and Athena, but no punishment is mentioned for any of them. In the Iliad, there is no indication of Poseidon and Apollo being forced to build the walls of Troy as result of any rebelion and in fact, later accounts claim they did it willingly in order to test Laomedon. As for Hera, the only punishment mentioned for her in the Iliad happened as a result of her persecution of Herakles, for which she was hanged from her wrists and with anvils attached to her feet (Iliad book XV).
      The Iliad scholia, however, relates the story differently. In this account, Apollo takes the place of Athena and the three rebels (Hera, Poseidon, Apollo) are indeed punished. Thus, the scholiasts changed the reason for Zeus's punishment of Hera, and expanded on the idea of Apollo and Poseidon's forced labour.
      Now, some scholars believe that Athena being made part of the rebelion in the Iliad was a Homeric innovation (the author specifically made the three principal pro-Achaean deities be the same ones who rebelled against Zeus in the past) and that the version recorded in the scholia was the more genuine tradition, while others suppose that the scholiasts merely tried to make sense of a myth they knew little (if anything) about. Of course, since this myth is only very rarely mentioned in our surviving ancient ttexts and never in detail, it is impossible to know for sure how it originally went and even if it existed at all before the Iliad.
      Tl;dr: Athena wasn't punished not because of preferential treatment, but because the version of the binding of Zeus where the punishments for the rebels were mentioned did not involve her at all, and in the version where she was one of the rebels there is no mention of punishment for any of the conspirators.

      Ares domains covers law and order and courage and oath keeping. He also has an aversion to being power hungry. Alot of the negative stuff was written by the athenians even thougth they got routinely butchered by the sons of Ares with the Thebans and the Spartans and other groups that considered themselves descended from his kids. He probably didn't want a civil war considering Aphrodite nearly got aborted by Cronos and Cronos may have tried to do that on purpose. Aphrodite could of advised him not to get involved also who knows political warfare one of the things Ares is god of.

They make out no one had festivals or anything to do with him they even make out Ares is. Is nota Greek word. Even tho the ancient Greeks said it was and had festivals and temples dedicated to him and Thier stories are filled with homage and worship towards him like the illiad

  • @HittingBandy

    Funny how while Hera's more intense punishment seemed justifiable for leading the rebellion, Apollo and Poseidon didn't really do as much as the other rebel gods, but Zeus just gave them those punishments.
    As a side note, it was prophesied through the Oracle of Delphi that Troy would fall, so Zeus ordered Apollo and Poseidon to help the men of Troy build the wall, and not themselves doing all the work, making the wall partially man-made.

    Zeus: That takes care of Hera, Poseidon and Apollo. Now as for you… care to explain yourself?
    Athena: Certainly. The story of my rebellion starts when His Majesty was still a youth. Needing an Emetic agent to free his siblings, he came to the abode of Metis…
    (Three hours later)
    …and, as your first born child and only child of the first queen of Olympus I am naturally the first in the line of succession.
    Zeus: … uh, Case Dismissed. We’ll take a 30 minute recess.
    Hermes: Wow. She’s good.
    Hephaestus: I’m hiring her to take my case!

    Okay. I think I get it now. Ares is the biggest dissapointed of all Zeus’s children because he was not part of Scheme against him, while Athena did exactly what Zeus did to his father.
    Athena had both Wisdom of Metis and Zeus’s ambition, while Ares had non of this and was just playing his blood games.
    I think I also would be dissaponited to learn that my first born son has less in common with me than my daughter.

    • @omniavanitas7893
      @omniavanitas7893 Před 3 lety +5

      Uhhh... no. First of all, Ares wasn't the only one of his children not to get involved in that poorly thought out rebellion. In fact, none of his children did except Athene and yet he has no problem caring for and appreciating the others.
      Secondly, Zeus hates Ares the most because he is violent, bloodthirsty and has his mother's temperament (which Zeus finds difficult to control).
      Lastly, do you seriously think that he was happy when they tried to betray him because it meant that his family was ambitious?
