Can we just appreciate the fact that they ain't trying to sell us some horrible " morning routine " sponsored product?
It’s something I really appreciate about GG: there’s a good honesty to what they present.
George Mark this video is brought to you by Manscaped
I see you have a great taste in music. Shostakovich symphony no. 5 is great and all the others as well!
@@henrymarks2237 No it is not sponsored. That aside, I am sure there are a bunch of better products out there than manscaped, but they do a good job marketing it.
Gentleman's Gazette oh, I didn’t mean to insinuate that, it’s that they sponsor like every other channel. I love your content, keep up the great work!
-Henry
PS could you do a review of Only Gentleman by Givinchy or a video on shall we say budget fragrances. Thanks
I prefer an aftershave lotion with little to no alcohol content, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older
Patrick Bateman Any thoughts on Sports by Huey Lewis and the News?
Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.
lets see paul allens card?
@@scott1506 Look at that subtle off white colouring, the tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark
@@libertariancapitalist I have all the characteristics of a human being-- flesh, blood, skin, hair-- but not a single, clear, identifiable emotion, except for greed and disgust. Something horrible is happening inside of me, and I don't know why. My nightly bloodlust has overflowed into my days. I feel lethal, on the verge of frenzy. I think my mask of sanity is about to slip.
There’s nothing embarrassing about using a cheap product, especially if it works.
You sir are very correct
Expensive doesn’t always mean “good” and cheap doesn’t always mean “bad” everyone works differently. And products work for different people.
@Ron Lewenberg I like "frugal".
It is to a wannabe snob.
Yes, Quality is about how well something is made and how well it works.
Seeing the Gentleman's Gazette trio together sharing the products they use is fascinating to see. Wish to see more videos like these featuring the trio again
Old guy here--75--and I truly appreciate the focus on 'timelessness' that the GG team advocates--taste and style are items that truly transcend the current obsession with age--at least here in the U.S of A. As do many others here, I appreciate both (a) knowing what the GG team's favorites are, AND (b) their mature position that it is, truly, our own decisions that count at the end of the day: surely our individual choices are an indicator of style, if not always taste! As for what I advocate in terms of product, I am a die-hard fan of L'Occitane shaving cream and apre-rasage balm. I am blessed with a fantastic head of hair, graying still obediently confined to the temples. For me, alternating between a Pantene shampoo/conditioner combo and Johnson baby shampoo works for cleaning. As a dressing, classic Vaseline (when I can find it) or, failing that, baby oil: both contain lanoline and mineral oil which, at the end of the day, is what Vaseline is. My fragrances [depending on time of day] are Polo [green], Tabac, and [wife's favorite] Santos by Cartier. For casual, walks, etc. a simple Mountain Frost Daily Refresher from Bath and Body Works.
Keep up the good work, gentlemen. Glad I found your site.
Thank you for not taking sponsorships for this video! All too often a CZcamsr I trust has a review only for me to realize that they were paid by the company. Thank you for preserving your integrity
Kyle has such a soothing voice. I'd really like to see more of him!
Best shaving cream in the world: Taylor of Old Bond Street - try the lavender or peppermint - very strong indeed. Great stuff.
Great price too. I'm also a fan of lavender and Eton College.
Appreciate the integrity, Sven. Thank you for your genuine recommendations.
I am loving the new video format! I can tell that the survey emails are being applied here, it's fantastic!
My first Merkur is still my only DE razor after 15 years. Still a beautiful, shiny tool and a joy to shave with every morning. Those things are built to last!
Hello from Brazil! We dont have most of these products available here or It costs a fortune, but the information is excellent anyway!
Oof
I know right, same here in Malaysia. Especially with the shaving products.
@@imransuhaimi3522 Try to find someone willing to mail it to you. If you've got any family in the US or UK I'm sure they would be more than happy to send some over for a birthday or holiday gift.
This may offer an opportunity to create a website that specializes in offering quality grooming products overseas.
Soap bars, shampoo and conditioner bars also have the nice advantage in that they're not in a plastic bottle. The shampoo bar I'm currently using barely requires any strokes before you get a nice lather and it makes my thick hair feel good.
I like the way you divide out each product segment..txs
Well done!
Thank you for making a genuine and not a “sell out” video
I really didn't expect the Got2B Glue to be on here. I used to use that stuff for my mohawk back in 2004-2005 during my more wild punk rock days. It makes sense though. It really does a good job of holding everything in place.
That's why I appreciate this channel, honest reviews!! I think it's the only one out there!
You gentlemen are fantastic! Love the videos. Great job to you all.
Great presentation gentleman. Fun watch and informative as always.
I LOVE THIS FORMAT!!! It flows much better than when you are in the same room conference style but also all 3 of your different styles and characters can share opinions and thoughts for a wide variety of viewers. I feel like sometimes its a bit subjective but this helps me make a more well rounded decision.
My favorite bar soap is Dr. Bronner's. They offer a variety of scents- using the citrus one at the moment- and are very affordable. I like D.R. Harris shampoo bars for my hair and their Eau de Portugal for a finishing product. For shaving soap I really like Taylor of Old Bond Street Eton collection. Other commenters have beaten me to recommending this but worth emphasizing how good this product is.
And I second Kyle's recommendation on the Kiehl's Hand Salve- that stuff works so well in winter and the $20 tube lasts a very long time. Worth every penny. Great work as always, GG- thanks for the no-nonsense and unendorsed recommendations. Thanks again!
Feather blades, Edwin Jagger razor, Castle Forbes Lime shaving cream, Clinique after shave balm, and Dove sensitive skin soap.
This video was very informative and helpful for having and improving on my skincare/face routine. Hope to see a "which natural ingredients make the best shampoo" video in the future to help my hair.
Thank you for your recommendation for Aveeno, I tried it and love it.
This is why I’ve subscribed, you don’t sell overpriced sponsors edition gimmick stuff. Unlike some other men’s channels which I won’t name !
Best video of this channel! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Good selections & recommendations thank you gentleman
Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood has been my go-to shaving cream, it has a nice thick lather and a nice scent to it, plus you can get it in a wooden bowl and it looks nice as well.
I second the tea tree products! They're my favorite!
I would recommend Schwarzkopf Surfer-Matte for Traveling, because of the relaxed feel at your hair and the more vertical packaging
This was IMMENSELY helpful. Especially the skinny white guy with sensitive skin, because I'm a skinny white guy with sensitive skin
Thank you, Gazette.
1:35 nearly choked on my drink I laughed so hard
Don't worry, it isn't a real photo... it can't be.
Taylor of old bond street after shave was serving me well. I like their tube gel in Minnesota winters as it does not make your skin feel dry in the extreme cold while maintaining a non-greasy feel.
Great video as usual. I have tried many DE blades. Feather is a good choice but they don’t seem to last very long. My favorite is Derby Extra. They are super sharp like Feather but last way longer. I can usually get 10-12 shaves from a Derby extra blade.
For shaving Taylor of Old Bond Street. razor: double edge Merkur using the German made Bolzano Superinox blades. After shave Aquaphor and general body moisturizer Pienki Blieu unscented body butter. I like the quality of this video the transitions are well thought-out.
I use a thickening pomade in my hair it smells amazing and has so far the best hold, I use a straight razor for shaving with a tallow shave soap and I use an alum block for cuts it stings but it works and stops bleeding
I have astral blades and enjoy them, I'm thinking of upgrading my razor thanks for the suggestions.
Great video, Love it!
I have been shaving with body shop shaving soap for a couple of years, and I can recommend this product highly
Preston. I’m right there with you on the Groom and Clean. I love it but found it doesn’t have quite as much hold as I like. What I’ve found and have incorporated into my daily routine is applying Groom and Clean first and then using a little bit Suavecito pomade. It provides the extra hold that I I was looking for. I’ve been through a long list of products, ranging from cheap to ridiculously expensive, and have found the Suavecito to be the best. It’s not very pricey or high end but I love it. It’s also water soluble so it will just rinse right out in the shower along with the Groom and Clean. I’ve found no need to shampoo more frequently with it. Can’t recommend it enough.
Excellent video!!!!
I recently bought my Merkur 37C slantbar razor, and it's an excellent shaver that cuts through my coarse facial hair in as few passes as possible, preserving my sensitive skin. Proraso is my shave soap of choice, and Astra Platinum are my choice blades.
Ever tried the Merkur Sledge hammer ?
Nicolas Morillo I haven’t yet, the 37C is my first Merkur.
Proraso has the most dreamy scent.. love it when my bloke uses it xx
Great tips -
Since lockdown in the UK I switched to the more easily available and cheap "Simple" light moisturiser and I wont be switching back now lockdown is ending. Great as both an aftershave balm and general moisturiser.
I LOVE Astra
Great video without promoting anything! I prepare my face before shaving with ancient greek remedy after getting it damp w/ warm water. I mix in 5% lavender essential oil. After shaving I enjoy either poraso (generously splashed) or L’Occitane after shave balm.
Thayer’s Alcohol Free Witch Hazel Toner is cheap, great and available at Target. I KNOW this can become a rabbit hole, but surprised you left out eye creams and differentiating between PM moisturizers and daily moisturizers with an SPF. Great topic!
I highly recommend checking out l'occitane products. Really good stuff
I'm like Kyle - I like playing around with different things and haven't settled on 1 specific product. I will say that my recent purchase of a Panasonic Arc4 wet/dry electric shaver has been awesome. Always used wet with a variety of shaving creams & soaps. I've recently started using a Neutrogena shaving cream and face lotion with a certain amount of SPF.
I live in sweden we have all of this stuff i love this channel
I only have a few cartridges left for my razor, so it sounds like a perfect time to make the switch.
Do it, you wont regret it, I promise you
On soaps one has to be careful, skin has a pH of about 5.5. Most soaps are alkaline (almost all of them) wich is a no no no for skin care. Dove has a neutral pH (about 7), wich is kind of ok.
I use syndets most of all for my face, is way better than any soap, I use one from La Roche-posay, but there are many brands with good syndets. You guys should try it. I don't know the pH of the soaps you mentioned but you should check it as it is important when recommending soaps.
There are a lot of great hair products, I use and recommend Shear Revival's products, they're pretty nice, natural and good for hair care. Great videos guys. Love from Chile.
Imma give Proraso a try. Been hearing about them for a while now
Maybe try strong hold water based pomades. F.e. I like the ones from suavecito.
I love the Dr. Squatch brand. They make the best soaps and deodorants.
Greetings from Germany! I just discovered your chanel and am plowing through your fun and inspiring videos. After my morning shower I apply deodorant from Speick, made near Stuttgart. Either the natural, classic scent or the Pure, which is fragrance free. Personally I use the sticks, which make me feel fresh and ready for the day.
I too love Pre de Provence
My dad and my brothers don't know anything about shaving lotion, shaving brushes, and they shave with cartridges. We've never seen anything else in our house. I'm gonna talk with them about this cuz they get bad razor burn every time they shave.
First of all - HUGE fan of the channel. Love the videos! Second - are there any solid colognes you might recommend (for those that travel a lot). I hate having to put my cologne in Go Toobs. Anything you might recommend as a solid fragrance or maybe an alternative?
I use solid deodorant sticks such as Taylor of Old Bond Street's Sandalwood or Eton College fragrance. Lots of fragrance companies make them.
Ah the GG Trio! Excellent :-)
You should try pomade, uncle, it is used for slicked hairstyles. Just pls keep in mind that your hair should be damped (not too wet, or too dry) when you apply, and apply the product from behind to front then comb it backward.
My favorite brand is Suavecito
Kiehl's has a great "Musk body cleanser", been using it for years, sometimes as a shampoo too.. And Indigo Wild out of Kansas City makes great bar soaps, Zum Bars. Their Patchouli scented bar is my usual..
Ditto on the Truefitt and Hill shaving cream 👍
+1 for Prorasso Green, I can't get enough of the smell and feel. Women often come back to smell me when they get a scent too XD
Did you know most lotions contain chemicals that get stuck in your liver leading to health complications later on. This is why I use beef tallow, it has healed my eczema so I’m sure it’ll heal dry skin.
This video was great very informative. I started wet shaving around 2 months ago and am looking to get a new safety razor but can't find anything to fit my needs so far. I have sensitive skin but my hair is thicker and curly making me prone to irritation and ingrown hairs if I go against the grain. This has made finding a razor to give me the right amount of aggressiveness in a shave difficult. I use proraso products and they work great. If anyone can offer any advice or help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you : )
Make a video on shampoo, conditioner, and skin routines!l
Guys i suggest you also start using a shaving scuttle. I use the Georgetown shaving scuttle G20.
Try Kiehl's midnight recovery concentrate. It's for your face. I use it for my face under my thick beard. No beard oil needed. Very light. I've tried many. Simply the best. Hands down.
Cheap bar soap. (Irishspring)
Fructis shampoo, conditioner
Paul Mitchell Tea tree leave in conditioner.
Old spice deodorant, aqua reef or bear glove
I also use the same glue!
I like castle forbes lime shaving cream for sensitive skin
If You like Proraso cream, give a try to Proraso aftershave green line balsam. I'm using it and really enjoy it. Also I'm testing now a Goodfellas inferno shaving soap and for now is really good, oh the smell… awesome.
For hair I'm using Speick shampoo, I like the look and freshness after shower.
Non-sponsored videos are the best.
LAYRITE cement clay I swear will work with your hair!
I recently got back into double edge razor shaving. Times I tried before, it never worked well for me. I found out this time, how important a good pre shave, brush, shave cream/ soap, aftershave, is. I've been using a Omega boar brush, Proraso green for pre shave, shave, aftershave and it made my world so much better. Also razor and blades. I got a Rockwell T2 adjustable and Feather, Astra SS blades. Canned creams, which is all I've ever tried to use before, are terrible.
Now I can really re live the days, of being a kid, on a stool next to my dad, in the bathroom, in the morning. Trying to imitate him, using a black handle, Gillette Super Speed and actually enjoy it.
I use the same gel as rapheal.
Sven and Preston could maybe benefit from trying Reuzel Products. Very OG Brand from the finest Netherlands Barber / Hairdressers. Reuzel Green Pomade would be great as it isn't such a hard fit as reuzel Pink. Or maybe the Reuzel Grey Matte Pomade
Groom & Clean that's going back. Feather Blades, not even Chuck Norris uses them. I use the Asta. First thing I"m buying is the Styptic Pencil. Heading to the Website.
About the sensitive skin and post shaving Irritations. I always shave before taking a shower because the warm shower will sooth your irritations and stop bleeding... and... most imprortant... your face is completely clean. After the shower i always use classic Nivea creme. This sooths my skin realy good and it dosent smell so intense like aftershave, because i will be using perfume after getting dressed and i dont want to smell like the perfume section in a Drugstore.
Did you Raphael try a lighter oil based pomade. Maybe sweet georgia brown (red tin) or Morgans original pomade (the one in the yellow box).
I like to use Cremo shaving cream.
Try dr. Bronners. You can use it anywhere. No animal testing. Coconut oil works well too
Can you make a more in depth guide about soap please?
Vanicream is an excellent no scent, not oily lotion. At Target and Walmart. If you guys are near a Dollar Tree they almost always have L'Occitane soap bars for 99% less than retail if not available they have Yardley's which I feel has same qualities.
I love that you guys don’t shove sponsorships down our throats. Like real men real style or alpha m. You guys are more genuine.
Had to quit the hyped alpha due to this, I can't stand him anymore,
Also, his amfetamine vibe presentation is waaaayyyy to much for a quiet European
I also use Nivea post shave balm the only problem is after awhile the scent in the bottle goes away and then it starts smelling a bit off
Stirling shaving soap is the best I've tried. better than all the expensive english soaps. It's a small artisan company.
Shaving products:
Barrister and Mann, Ariana and Evans, Stirling Soap Company... high tallow content combined with goats milk and lanolin. More expensive than Proraso, but way better quality. For blades I like Astra, Feather, Wilkinson Sword, and ASCO by Lord. My razor is a Rockwell 6S. I like a cooling, non-alcohol menthol splash as an aftershave, from a company in NY state called Taconic. I will also often use Thayer's witch hazel as an astringent, post-shave. Excellent recommendation on the Nivea balm; that stuff is awesome, and given the price it's a no-brainer.
For my hair, styled similar to Preston's (a little longer these days!) I use Booster Lanolin cream. It's great, non-greasy, washes out easily, and gives me just enough hold. Nice classic subtle barbershop scent too. A Canadian classic since the 1920s.
My shampoo is a natural, non-sulphate orange-scented one from Oneka. Doesn't have the drying sulphates and phosphates in it. I use Dr. Bronner's Tea Tree, Peppermint or Eucalyptus bar soap or liquid soap. Not fancy, but I like the smell and natural ingredients.
I'm not a huge fragrance guy, but I do like Fahrenheit by Dior on the rare occasion I will wear a scent.
I Like this one!!!
By what instrument do you apply your bar soap lather? Certainly something more gentlemanly than a common white washcloth, n'est ce pas?
What’s the exact model from Philips you are using ?
Some of the US made shaving soaps are heads above anything else on the market. Look at Barrister & Mann (NY), Declaration Grooming (MI), Noble Otter (TX), and Wholly Kaw (NJ) for top notch shaving soaps.
I have very coarse hair and very sensitive skin, so an aggressive blade wrecks my skin but cuts my hair fine, while a less aggressive blade is fine on my skin but pulls at my hair a lot. Any recommendations?
He's such a gentleman!
The given ingredient database website lists witch hazel as non-allergenic, however i currently have scarring that will require retinoid treatment on my face from an acne outbreak exacerbated by use of witch hazel. i think when it comes to products we use on our face it pays to be cautious, and be wary of trying new things to solve your problems without professional advice. also garnier make a fantastic low budget lotion, i find it soaks into my skin way better than almost any other.
Ditto on the Blue Sea Breeze
That suit looks crisp and nice haircut
