underrated by who? She is one of the most recognized female voices within the acid jazz and hip hop jazz scene. She has work along with Jazzmatazz, Louie Vega, Bootsy Collins, and J Dilla! She is the Diva
I got this album when it came out (1990?) after hearing the radio hit "Dream On Dreamer". That was 23 years ago and I still listen to this album. There aren't many that stand that test of time and still get taken out and played. Every time I hear this song it takes me back to driving in my first car in summer, windows down and music up. Gas was 98 cents a gallon, smokes were $1.73 a pack and CD's were just becoming popular. My world was more innocent and the sun was warmer and more yellow.
The coolest band... best band to drive to on summer days. For me the BNH were the original flag bearers of the early 90s Acid jazz scene. Jamiroquai is probably my fav band of this genre but the BNH are awesome, totally awesome. The vocals, music and the fact that this song is as fresh today as it was back in 1990.
i loved that acid jazz period whoo still up to date as well...just my firnd Matt from Delicious vynil just passed away as their producer ,so just going through his work since we met 30 years ago in LA and never managed to see each other again.as for Jamiroquai ,i saw him in LA for is first gig with 300 people and that guy got is own style.....
THIS IS A GREAT SONG. THE 90'S WAS A GREAT MUSICAL ERA. WHEN I THINK BACK TO THAT TIME OFTEN TEARS COME TO MY EYES, NOT SADDNESS BUT JOY AND UNDERSTANDING THAT ERA AND THE WAY THINGS WERE.
I love this song sooo much!!!! I think it is perfect especially with the lead vocalist, N'Dea Davenport, leading the way. I believe she has a strong & soulful voice which complement the group very well.
"You in my life is like feeling the whole world is my side, putting a smile on face, where a cloud use to follow instead" The most beautiful track in the world
Oh my gosh! I recently just found out about the Brand New Heavies (hey, I'm only 22, but an extreme lover of old school music) so I was about 3 when this song came out. I rock this song daily on my ipod. And man what I would give to be in N'Dea's place right now...singing, playing around awesome musicians, dancing around all carefree, having fun in the sun, and singing about love. It's wonderful. It just goes back to that 90s vibe. You can only wish to see something like this on TV now :-(
This is my college graduation theme music. This CD was new and only the coolest kids were hip. I was 22. So thankful I was born when I did for the music that was my life’s background.
NOTHING LIKE LONDON MUSIC..❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️..Acid Jazz Forever, Matt Bianco, Boy George, Sting, Curiosity Killed the Cat, George Michael, . Sade..ALL these magnificent musicians...need I say MORE...I MISS the London
+Amde Anbessa-Ebanks Dude if you haven't yet you should listen to Incognito, Mother Earth, and Groove Collective. So much awesome Acid Jazz that fell under the radar back in the 90s. It's probably my favorite genre besides New Jack Swing. Figures my favorite genres are the ones that don't really exist anymore. lol.
Try the following, not all UK, but good. Personal Life, Lewis Taylor, Richard Earnshaw, Electric Wire Hustle, Omar, Lewis Taylor, Junior Boys, Katie Leone, Princess Freesia, Jarrod Lawson, Jessy Lanza, Bluey solo albums, Hiatus Kaiyote, The Foreign Exchange, Eska, Soulive, Alice Russell, Ed Motta, Fried, Quintessence (5am), James Blake, Little Dragon, Dira, Sy Smith, Tony Momrelle, Cody ChesnuTT, Jamie Lidell, Me'Shell Ndegéocello, Drizabone, D'influence, Jhelisa, Citrus Sun, Carleen Anderson, DaM-FunK, JD73, Dwele, Kem, N’Dambi,, Thundercat, Dwele, Maxwell.
Same with me!!! LOVE Acid Jazz and NJS. And Lets not forget the re-emergence of the New SOUL in the mid 90's - NEO SOUL (Eric Benet,D'Angelo and countless others came out of NEO SOUL) Such under rated styles of music that seemed to fade.. Ihope to keep that Tradition Going. I dont want it to die.
This song really takes me back to my childhood even though I was born in 1968 and it reminds me of how close my family use to be and the good times we had.
Soundtrack music for my senior year of high school and my early college years...Damn, part of me wants to go back to that era....Totally didn't honor it or myself as I should have...
Living with you in my life is like feeling the whole world's on my side, feeling the sun on my head where a cloud used to follow instead - this guy is AWESOME
I know that the Brand New Heavies have had other female lead singers but nobody, but nobody can take the place of the beautiful and talented Ms. N'Dea Davenport.
NeoSoul could never sound so good from way back when. Brand New Heavies was a group that did Funk, R&b, Jazz like flavors, Rock, HipHop & NeoSoul. N’Dea Davenport is one of the timeless SANGERS of our generation. I have all their CDS except that HipHop album( which I haveta get ). NeoSoul Has Died & Groups like the Heavies will never be forgotten. God I miss those Times!!!
N'Dea kills it everytime, best lead singer the band has ever had.
Nicole (Russo) was amazing too.. The 2 only singers who really fitted in the band soul imho..
She is so beautiful and the song takes me back home from France to London when I was as free as the
Wind

THIS IS A GREAT SONG. THE 90'S WAS A GREAT MUSICAL ERA. WHEN I THINK BACK TO THAT TIME OFTEN TEARS COME TO MY EYES, NOT SADDNESS BUT JOY AND UNDERSTANDING THAT ERA AND THE WAY THINGS WERE.

Awwwh yes!!!!
There is no doubt, N'dea Davenport is the best female singer BNH have ever had
Sidiheh Garrett holds her own too.
N'dea Davenport was the best lead vocalist for The Brand New Heavies..Their music was better with N'dea.
N'dea's voice is silky smooth and powerful too. Kinda like Maisa of Incognito. Beautiful singers!
@@islandbee What u said is true but N'Dea Davenport had better chemistry with the Brand New Heavies.
They've had some pretty amazing female vocalists like Siedah Garrett and Carleen Anderson, but N'dea is definitely a better fit for the band.
Back in '92' it was this gorgeous song along with easy on the eye N'Dea Davenport, that got me hooked on this band.
one of the best bands of the 90's
This song is timeless. It brings back so many pleasant memories. TBNH is the epitome of vocal and musical artistry!
