His accent should be considered a cultural treasure
Possibly the best use of the English language I dare say. I’m from Minnesota and am in envy of the smooth excellence with which the man speaks.
He sounds like Yosemite Sam hahaha
It's learned/forced. It's not his natural accent.
@@ulfrinn8783 it does sound very very forced he sounds ridiculous hahaha
@@BurntMcgurnt so cringe
“Of all the explanations I’ve ever heard, that’s one of ‘em”
Gets me every time.
"Bless your heart." 😂😂😂
"On land, on sea, at home, abroad,
I smoke my pipe and worship God."
-Johann Sebastian Bach
Amen!
Dr. Harrelson is amazing, he almost doesn't seem wholly real xD That accent, his manner of articulation, his slightly theatrical charm. I don't smoke in the slightest but I found this very entertaining. Good on you for having him on :)
Aren’t we glad you’re the real deal!
@@emilioramirez6116I wish to be the real deal
What accent does he have, can you tell me, please?
@dopechill4133 it's a southerners accent from usa
I don’t smoke either, only the pipe once or twice a day and it adds to life in a way you can only experience personally. Go the forest and try your first one if you feel a pleasant pull and fascination.
I've never smoked a pipe, I've no intention of ever smoking a pipe, I've never searched CZcams about pipe smoking and yet, here I am unable to stop watching
You should definitely try smoking a pipe.
Give it a whirl. It can be as redneck or fancy as you want it
i do declare this accent would say "i do declare"
He's so southern He's at odds with a compass
LOL "Son, I got class i ain't even used yet.". 😂
‘Of all the explanations I’ve ever heard …… that is one of ‘em.” 😂
Never in my live have I heard someone sound more American than this guy. Almost like he is a voice actor or something. Fucking love it.
South Carolina low country accent buddy
@chrisrichardson9460 bruh that's a Cajun accent
@@dustinstacey5181 the guy is from Darlington sc, I live literary 45 min from there. Cajun is different that’s more Louisiana area
I was thinking more sucesh
@@dustinstacey5181thats foghornleghorn
I simply want to learn to talk like this guy. It’s my new life goal.
Yo😂😂😂😂😂
He did it again! The very last line as the video cuts is an absolute gem. This guy is a force of nature.
I respect the "its just more fancy".
A filter doesn't make the smoke more clean, it cools the smoke, and helps buffer the heat of the smoke. It takes nothing away from the taste profile. I smoke with 9mm filters, and I can smoke any blends in any mood all day slow or fast, and I suffer no adverse bite affects. Tongue bite is a major problem for many experienced, or new smokers, and many novices give up the tradition of pipe smoking cos of serious bite problems. 9mm filters eradicate bite, and smooth out the smoke.
best thing I did was start using 9mm filters.
That being said Dr Harrelson is a fine chap, and has a good channel.
@@jd-rm4ez Basically, It is when the Tongue is burnt by the heat of the smoke entering the mouth. The heat starts to bite the tongue, it is very unwelcome.
There's something about smoking a pipe that a cigar just can't match. I enjoy both, but the rituals and process of smoking a pipe is an all encompassing contemplative experience. From the moment you go and pick out your pipe and tobacco, to the last few puffs it is bliss!
I am in love with this mans voice.
I just discovered Alan's channel recently and am so happy he is already on channels like this!
Listened to the entire interview a couple of days ago. The conversation with Dr. Harrison was so natural. I really enjoyed the discussion around the pipe, so I listened to that part again!
His journey to Catholicism mirrors my own, I just have a 6 month head start. I love to hear the intellectual reasoning for becoming catholic.
Got myself Irish coffee, got my pipe, I’m more of a cigar guy, haven’t had my pipe in two years but you guys made me do it! Forgot how relaxing and smooth it can be!
Dear lord I love this man's southern voice... He should really think about getting into narrating audio books...
I'm about to embark on the pipe voyage this veterans' day weekend. As a cigar smoker, I appreciate this exchange between these Kindred spirits.
How was it?
@CybermanKing It's interesting and enjoyable. Still learning.
Great conversation. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you for doing the show guys I really appreciate some great pipes and an excellent cigar
Great! What a wonderful enlightening guest Dr. Harrelson is.
Oh my god this is a brilliant video! Two fine gentlemen smoking pipes and having fine conversations! The eccentricity levels are off the charts! 👍🇬🇧
You both are amazing! What a honor just to smoke with you all on CZcams. I hope to someday have the chance to in real life. I love your videos!
I've been a fan of Dr Harrelson since I began pipe smoking a year and a half ago.
This is hilarious. What an accent! 😂❤
Really hit em with the "one of the explanations of all time"
Fantastic video, thank you.
This is awesome! Subbed!
Today I started my first pipe. Corn cob, simple, tobacco u bought, but I love it. I smoke cigars, but love pipes now.
Great conversation between two of my favorites.
Enjoying the show, and smoking 'Three Nuns' tobacco in a Peterson's Pipe here in Ireland ☘💚
I have smoked Captain Black since the 1980s. Sometimes I smoke Lane BCA or 1Q. I’ve tried a lot of tobacco and found that Latakia is a difficult one to smoke. Like beer, it is an acquired taste.
I used to get a new Peterson Christmas pipe every year, but I have since run out of space.
I have several lighters. The butanes are convenient, but I prefer the Zippo pipe lighter. It looks like the classic Zippo, but with two holes in the side frames for lighting the pipe.
BCA and 1Q are great and I also have a Pipe Zippo it's my goto when I run out of matches.
Glad to hear the Dr's accent. All my grandparents (NC) had that costal southern accent but it was lost over the years.
Enjoyed the show
I just happened to be smoking my pipe underneath a couple of oak trees. I enjoyed your conversation 👍
Yep just started out with a pipe really that's what brought me here and just trying to switch up from cigarettes stop inhaling the smoke but still get some satisfaction and right now I just cut open a black and mild about halfway and packed my pipe so far not bad really smooth with a good flavor
We need this again
Thank you kindly, sir 🫡🍃
Wow this was awesome
I'm smoking hash while watching you guys
💯💯
Holy! With an accent like that, dude could sell me sand in the desert. He should be a voice actor
I love this guys voice
The country accent made it even more interesting to learn about this
Peterson tankard with Germaines Special Latakia flake is what I am enjoying to this
Why cut the best bit at the very end where he schools you and says he has unused amounts of class due to having it in ubundance 😂
I'm glad that you do videos like this. Being an older woman it doesn't interest me, but young men NEED to be exposed to real men, Christian men hanging and being real. Healthy masculinity
Smoking? Bruh Lung Cancer is Masculine?
I am smoking a joint watching you Guys. I smoke 3 pipes aday
My 9y/o daughter is going as Cruella Deville for Halloween and my son a dalmatian. I decided to actually go in costume this year as Roger Radcliffe and I started looking for a pipe. Now I'm so interested I'm thinking of getting into pipe smoking
Im smoking a lovley mix of amnesia haze , morrocan hashish and amber leaf tobbaco tolled into a joce joint 😂
I'm a cigar smoker who enjoys leather, natural sweetness of tobacco, coffee and koko after taste in cigars.
Do you get those flavors from smoking pipe?
If so, I might switch over cuz I don't really enjoy the aftermath of cigars such as the residual smell in my clothes, hair, and my skin.
I sent this video to my mother because of the accent. Dear God I was not ready for what was about to ensue! She finds this so funny, she decided to message her cousin who inherited her father's pipes about them and asked for some photos to show me. Needless to say he doesn't send her pictures of them. He sends her his collection of pipes with multiple different tobaccos included in the package. I'm now the proud owner of 14 pipes. Some from my grandpa, some from my second cousin. These pipes are from Denmark, Sweden, germany, and everywhere in-between. I am now in a position in which I never would have expected. I don't smoke but now I have 14 pipes that are of considerable quality with tobacco from all over Europe, I belive. Is this a sign to start smoking pipes? Lmao. I'm tempted. Thoughts?
Alan is awesome!! Pipe Cottage!! Yeah baby!
5:41 this line with this accent straight out of a movie or something
Dark & Silky. Chocolate all black blend.
Thank you for the tips. Subscribing.
Thursday at 4.57 picked up the Southern drawl for a second 😂
Daggum Bo, fella's syrupy thick southern drawl makes me think of the ol' Georgian south
I just take a pinch of flake and kneed until it fals apart enough it in the palm of my hand. The smaller piece go in first, then the wad of tobacco after. Very easy to load!
After igniting, I feel like blowing to get rid of the hot air before inhaling will result in cool smoking. I don't know if it's right.
No difference, it's just more fancy" 😅 I like this guy much
Boswell No Bite Delight. Alan recommended it.
Glad this was in my recommendations it was incredibly interesting. I don't smoke pipes but I'd be lying if i told you I didn't do a Google search after watching this video.
I love Dr Harrelson's accent
Im smoking right now Fresh from the Plant from our Farm, and yes we farmers doesn't like filtered pipe because if you like filters then light a cigarette we like them Fresh and Raw
Matt's packing technique: used a poor analogy but the method was actually pretty close to the 3 pack method commonly used by pipe smokers. A light pack, a medium pack then a stiff pack. RiP McClelland tobaccos... Frog Morton was the first blend I ever tried around 15 years ago. There is no substitute however any new smokers looking to find something along the lines of it, I'd recommend Eastfarthing by Sutcliff or maybe MacBaren's Latakia Flake.
What's funny to me is how few people know how to make a fire. I've watched a lot of self professed outdoorsmen struggle so the 3 pack method so it probably doesn't make sense to most.
My God, he's got Frog Morton. And On The Town is an absolutely incredible blend.
I'm smoking a glass pipe made by a glass blower named Gremlin from Portland Oregon. Glass By Gremlin. I'm watching the video because I just turned my first wooden pipe on a wood lathe and I'm looking for some pointers as to what should and shouldn't be done for this. Cheers.
New pipe smoker questions:
Have any pipe smokers ever tried a water pipe/bubbler? What’s your take on it? I find it to be a smoother cooler smoke.
Also, the tobacco smells different in a pipe than it does if I smoke the same tobacco in a cigarette (coming from cigarettes to pipes, still learning).
Any suggestions on tobacco? I notice the smell in the room, and the smell is different than when I would smoke cigarettes.
I’d like a pleasant smell and a strong taste/nicotine hit.
I use OHM because it’s cheap (rolled cigs with this for the same reason), I like captain black, and Paladin especially for the cherry smell, though I don’t taste it. I know these are cheap brands, any advise for the economically challenged?
Hey, I will try to answer your questions as best as possible.
1) I haven't tried a water pipe
2) I have never smoked a cigarette, But I think it does smell different even though you're smoking it through a pipe. the smell being accounted for is affected not only by its type or brand but it is affected by what you are smoking it out of, if you are smoking it out of a Briar pipe, It will smell different than a cigarette. the temp ur smoking also affect the smell of tobacco, usually cigarette smokers smoke at a higher rate than pipe smokers, affecting the smell.
3) Of course the smell is different, Pipe tobacco is usually way more natural than cigarette tobacco. depending on what kind of blend you're choosing to smoke, you will have a different smell. If you're a beginner, I suggest you don't start with an aromatic blend, like almost everyone else is. I find an aromatic blend burning very hot, which can cause tongue bite for an inexperienced smoker. Something like a Peterson Sherlock Holmes or Peterson Flake are good Virginia-based blends. Another favorite of mine is the popular Early Morning Pipe, but it's an English blend.
regarding the smell factor, as long as you're not smoking an aromatic, the smell is really up to you. aromatic blends tend to smell somewhat better, but again, it's up to you to decide what you like.
4) The nicotine hit is different in pipes. Because you don't inhale the smoke, and I hope you don't, the nicotine is soaked from your cheeks to your body, so the nicotine hit is different from a cigarette. more on that I can not say because I don't know much about the topic.
5) I get that the Captain Black brand is more appealing to you price-wise, but I suggest investing money in some bigger name blends such as those listed above. I hope you have a pleasant smoke! plz, keep me updated.
This show is about tobacco pipe smoking, not dope smoking
I'm smoking cherry Vanilla in a silver mounted Irish Flute
Gawith Hoggarth Kendal Gold, though that was when I was outside, can't smoke inside.
This might be the coolest redhead cowboy that I know.
Man, he still has some Frog Morton - best tobacco ever.
Smoking Sutliff Sunset Rum in a Peterson Tankard.
Yup, Elizabethan!
Son I got class I aint even used yet.... hahahahaha love it
SMOKER FRIENDLY CHERRY
It is not expensive at all.
Chunky... very chunky... but smooth to the tongue, and nose. even people I smoke with say it has a sweet aroma.
for me, it is better than most rich, expensive tobaccos. 10/10 best in arkansas
I'm having a cherry blend (Cult) mixed with a vanilla cream by Stokkebye.
I was already enjoying pipe tobacco before watching this video. And now after seeing this video I’m decided. Now just to find a better pipe. I don’t want a long trendy wizard pipe. I want something small and slightly curved. Etsy here I come!
He has the exact same accent as Augustus Sinclair from bioshock 2
It would honestly not surprise me if this man had no accent at all IRL 🤣
What fun! Two handsome men smoking pipes... it alnost makes me want to take up the pipe again!
Dude sounds like Shelby Foote from The Civil War documentary
I'm smoking Seattle pipe club Virginia jazz out of a dunhill shellbriar I got on eBay
"supposed this , supposed that" JUST SMOKE!!!! 😂
“It smells divine”. 😂
His accent sounds like it would accompany a crack of a whip. 💀
What about pressed tabacco?
I came here for the company of pipe smokers, and left with what I consider to be one of the best cricket sledge comebacks (other than the imortal comback of Eddo Brandes) - 'son, I got class I ain't even used yet'. A niche comment, but cricketers will understand.
Smoking my Peterson's pipe with Three Nuns tobacco!
Fr. Doyle
Hook Head
Wexford Ireland
Smoking Erinmore Flake out of my new Peterson Pub System Pipe with a P-Lip
I am smoking paddy’s golden pot 48%thc hashish
Hahahah that man is a legend 😂😂
Special Dublin " Navy mixture " day 1 , wish me luck :-)
Thanks for sharing Matt. Next time you're coming back to Brisbane, care to bring in and share some pipe tobacco? ;-) I almost have to sell a kidney to pay for the insane amount of tax we have on tobacco. A $16 USD 50 gram tin of tobacco costs about $95 USD over here! For shame.
I was going to say the same thing! I'm in Melbourne and the price is insane for tobacco! It's a luxury for me now, not to mention one of the last retailers here just shut up shop.
what pipe leather roll is that you have?
Walt Heyer. Can you please bring him on your channel?
What church warden is that? I like the length. Thx.
Is this guy “in character” or is he related to the professor in The Waterboy?
