  • Madden NFL 2005 was Tony Romo's first year in a Madden game. A year after signing to the team as an undrafted free agent. I took over the Dallas Cowboys. Gave him the starting job. Can we win with him in at quarterback?

Dang what happened to madden? It had so much life in the game outside of playing football. Franchise alone was worth the buy..then importing draft makes it even greater

Absolutely! It used to be so much fun getting these games for Christmas and spending all vacation playing them non-stop. They still hold up so well!

EA paid for the rights to make nfl games so the wouldn't have to compete because it had a bunch of good games. They even made x box stop making nfl fever or they was going to pull madden off of x box

Would love to see a madden 04 Steelers franchise. The year before they got Ben and made Tommy Maddox the starter after he led them to the playoffs in 02. You’d have to edit in Troy Polamalu since he’s in the game as FS 42 or something like that since he hadn’t signed to the players Union by the time the game came out.

You know, that's not a bad idea! I always liked Tommy Maddox since the XFL. I usually only do rebuilds, so it would be done in the same format as the Oakland Raiders series I did last year. Definitely putting it on the list!

@@dyn-chise True. The Steelers never rebuild, they reload. It's rare to find a Steelers' roster in the late 90's-now that is not a contender.

You can take the 2005 version and create a player for him as a rookie into 04.
I do that with many players. As a 49ers fan, I made Delanie Walker and Michael Robinson - who were drafted!!! - and used Madden 08 to get the details to make them in 07 as rookies.
Same with James Harrison, Antonio Gates, and so forth.

How do they miss drafted players 😤 I was always too impatient to create players as a kid 🤣 Me wanna play now

@@dyn-chise remember that, back in the day, not all draft picks signed contracts. They might not have been under contract, and thus, part of the NFLPA. It is the more modern CBA with pay scaling, and everyone gets 4 year deals with first round picks that can be given the 5th year option. Rookie, don't negotiate anymore. That wasn't true then.

Have you considered doing a Houston Texans expansion build off of their inaugural season?
Also, now I am playing Front Office Football 8 again and this makes great for a great second monitor video while GMing.

I have absolutely thought about it, but I'm still torn if I should do one in Madden 2002 or use the actual roster from Madden 2003.
I've never tried Front Office Football. Should I give it a go?

@@dyn-chise It's an amazing game for the GM experience but it won't make for good content as it is a spreadsheet game with no way to play games and sims are purely text-based with a scoreboard. IMO, it has more realistic cap management, trading, injuries, 30-wall and position based regression and managing player egos plus moving the team and managing the stadium. If you do buy it for personal play, get FOF 8, not 9. 9's UI was cluttered and clunky.

  • @paulgaither

Related to the idea of roster editing: I like to look at future Madden titles and see who players progressed into and use that as a foundation to improve them retroactively so they can naturally profress into who they eventually become in franchise mode. I have a whole video about that for Madden 2002.
Doing this helps every player on every team in franchise mode have more realistic progression and development to what we know in real life vs how they are done dirty by EA to deflate ratings.

So cool that players can be coaches in this game/franchise. Also, interesting brutal the development was in this game. I think that really impacted Romo in this series
