  • Cord to Cordless Chainsaw Conversion Video
    I found this chainsaw from a Japanese recycling shop. It does not work anymore because the armature is broken. I decided to convert it to an 18V cordless chainsaw by rewinding the armature and replacing the field with a permanent magnet. Let's see it in detail in this video.
    More information could find in the community / @gear_show .
    After the test, I felt it needed more speed, while the torque and power were good enough to cut the tree. It would be better with a 24V battery.
    To be honest, this chainsaw is much better than the 18V Black & Decker that I just restored • NiMH to Li-ion Chainsa...
    It is easier than my previous 36V chainsaw conversion • Electric Chainsaw Conv...
    I hope you find this video useful and enjoy it!
    Furthermore, I am happy to receive feedback, suggestions to improve myself.
    !!! I'm sorry for the mistake if I did in this video !!!
    Thank you very much for choosing to watch my video!
    Have a nice day

    My favorite tool you have is either your Makita impact driver, or (if you can believe it) your turntable lid wash basin. I don't know why, but I smile every time I see the turntable lid come out. :) 😃

    I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle czcams.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

    • @cdmccul
      @cdmccul Před 2 lety +2

      I'm high current situations, many times solder isn't used - for concern of it failing at high amp/high temp. Crimping/staking is the common go to. However, I would certainly agree that adding solder after the fact. Unless you mean on the commutater - then you don't solder then so you don't melt the shellac coating (the reason he scrapes out with his knife when wrapping around each finger).

    Olá! Acho muito legal essas conversões de motores AC para DC que você faz. Em 24:10 a corrente com carga é tão alta que a fonte entra em modo de proteção por corrente constante. Para 18V só uma bateria mesmo para manter a potência do motor.
