Old version 12V Impact Driver Restoration | Dewalt DW052-JP TYPE1

  • I found this impact driver from Japan recycle shop for 15$. This is old model DeWALT impact driver, used in Japan. This tool is obsolete because it runs on old Nimh batteries while new tool with li-ion battery pack. I bought it to restore and want to know its quality. All that needs to be done is to clean the internal parts, put in new grease, and especially make a new battery with lithium that has the same power as the old one. The new battery pack is 12.6V 6.4Ah.
I hope you find this video useful and enjoy!
I am happy to receive feedback, suggestions to improve myself.
!!! I'm sorry for the mistake if I did this video !!!

Upgraded from an older 18v kit. czcams.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

It's kinda amazing how far Impact technology has come. All that swinging metal inside that driver and it couldn't push that lag screw through the wood. I have a 12v Milwaukee FUEL that can outwork my 18v Milwaukee.

Great work! I adapted a 14.4V DeWalt drill to use 20V Max flat packs, and that thing flies! I don't have to use high gear, low is fast enough! I didn't think it would last long, but I've been using it several times a week for 3 years with no signs of cooking the motor.

Great piece of work! Some companies tend to build things so they can't be opened easily, although I think in case of this battery it was some enviroment protection laws. Keep doing the great stuff!

Oh, I love this....:) It gives such a good feeling to make something neglected like new or better (Li-Ion). I started on my first one a few weeks ago but got hold up.
When I started to search for a suitable grease for the little old Makita model 6501 I saw at my local thrift store. It was full of dirt but works.
I haven't got the proper tools yet for things like pulling bearings but want to restore this little drill. I truly enjoy your vids as they are a source of ideas and good feelings :) Thanks!
