  • The greatest mystery of all is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Catholic church has been built off the faith that Jesus was crucified for our sins, died and was buried, then on the third day he rose from the dead and visited his Apostles. What really happened on that third day that gave birth to an entire religion? Find out right now!

God didn't sacrifice his son, like a good father to all of us, God sacrificed himself for his children.

See I’m an atheist and see a lot of people using the empty tomb as an argument like in this video. However I have not been able to find any independent evidence of a tomb whatsoever. It’s not found anywhere else in the NT other than the gospels and it’s not corroborated by secular/theologically independent sources from the time. Additionally the notion of a proper burial for a crucifixion victim goes against what we know was standard Roman practice.

I would like evidence because, as I said in the original post, the whole idea of a tomb burial is contradicted by the standard procedure for cruxifixction victims. This means that this would be an irregular event and thus would need more evidence to be rationally accepted. This would be a special case and I’m asking what reason we have to accept this as historical?
And what “other evidence?” Because it’s a claim only found in the gospels. And, since the gospels/the gospel narratives are not independent, this is a single source. We don’t have any independent corroboration even within the bible. This is something I explicitly said in my initial comment.
I’m sorry but it seems that you didn’t actually read my initial comment very carefully. This can be seen in your insistence on the “other evidence” when I explicitly pointed out a lack of any independent corroboration.

I'm disappointed for two reasons: 1. It would be interesting to see a truly neutral look at the Christian claims and historicity of Jesus 2. Hidden evangelism always annoys me
I wouldn't consider myself a mythicist nor would I consider myself a naturalist, but I'd say that I'm practically both. The way I see it, the Jesus of the Bible is so far divorced from whoever that inspired that character, assuming there was an individual(s) at all, that it makes no sense to say this character is historical. Instead of discussing real issues like that, they just write it off as "well, if you don't accept Jesus, you can't accept all these other figures, either!" My ex who was Catholic and got very into Catholic apology (a major reason we didn’t work out) parroted every single one of these points. It means nothing to say historians agree Jesus existed if said historians are (probably)Christian or raised in a predominantly Christian society. There really isn’t much “evidence” outside the Bible and Christianity that Jesus was real. A couple of guys around that time saying Jesus was a guy they’d heard of doesn’t negate this fact. This video basically does nothing but give credence to the idea that a man’s spirit rose from the dead and that magic does indeed exist 🙄 also, the idea that these books could have been written with near perfect accuracy 25-65 years after the alleged events took place just because people were really into story telling at the time is preposterous. Story tellers are known to embellish. It’s what they do. And you’re right, there’s a very big difference between other historical figures and Jesus in that people wouldn’t be so motivated to fabricate stories of Alexander the Great as they would be motivated to make up stories about Jesus. There are biases at play when it comes to the existence of a supposed God that don’t exist when you’re talking about some kings or warriors of the past. Come on now, infographics, do better.

For me I think the reason Christianity became the worlds biggest religion is because of what happened on the Cross at Calvary. To remind people when Jesus was pieced in the side with a spear the roman centurion Longinius had his face covered in water and blood, this was an extremely strange phenomenon for obvious reasons. This shook him to his core so much that he became technically the worlds first Christian and was literally Baptized in the blood and water of Jesus, another Prophecy he foretold. The world also had a terrible violent earthquake and the sky went dark during the daytime for nearly 3 hours. This entire sequence of events is the reason why the religion exploded like it did. Imagine seeing that happen in person. it was probably the only thing the people who lived during that time would about.

That was until He visited me and showed me the difference between logic and faith. He explained to me that the two are not reconcilable in the human mind so to try to prove or disprove one with the other is not possible and an attempt to do so will inevitably lead you to a false conclusion... EVIDENCE GOD EXISTS
      1. Order and design demand an intelligent mind. The order and design of the cosmos points to an intelligent mind. If I asked you how a building got there you'd obviously say someone obviously built it. A meal demands a chef, clothing demands a designer, a painting demands a painter, etc. Order does not come about by chance. Accidents produce chaos, accidents do not produce order. A shirt doesn't come together as a result of a tornado sweeping through a cotton field. The same thing goes for a human body, obviously. One single cell has the information of 30 sets of Britannica encyclopedia. Densely packed information requires an intelligent mind and design points to a designer and a raitonal mind.
      2. Charles darwin stated if a single cell is irreducibly complex, the whole idea of evolution by chance and fate falls apart. We've come to find out a single cell is irreducibly complex with many examples. For instance, an eye ball can't evolve from stage to stage and gradually become a whole eye ball. If something is missing in the eye, it isn't going to work. The living cell is another example. This exhibits that evolution is false.
      3. Under any circumstances no matter what DNA cannot create itself. Direct and clear evidence of a creator. DNA is coherent information. The amount of information densely packed in the DNA of a single cell demands an intelligent mind. Every time you are confronted with densely packed information, there's got to be an intelligent mind.
      4. If evolution is true, that means evolution had to of happened to not one but two of every single species on the face of the earth. Two monkeys, two elephants, two rabbits, two dogs, two cats, two fish, two birds, two horses, etc. If that were true, how did that baby monkey, dog, bird, etc. sustain life on its own as in infant? Did it hunt all on it's own when it couldn't even walk?
      5. Moral absolutes demand a moral law giver. If God does not exist, objective moral values and duties do not exist. However, objective moral values and duties do exist. Therefore, God does exist. Every atheist I know looks into the face of a person that is doing "wrong" and says, "You SHOULD not do that". When atheist say "should" they're appealing to a standard outside of us and acting as if it's real. The only way it could be real is if there is some God who created and defined it. Atheists cannot live out moral relativism and there is maybe not a ton, but there are undoubtedly some morals that are absolute. One of the most ironic things about moral relativists is they make a truth claim that everything is relative, which is an objective claim. Which is totally hypocritical and self defeating.
      6. The discovery of the big bang in the 1960s shows the universe is not eternal. Which means it has a beginning. Everything has a beginning has a cause. The universe has a beginning, therefore the universe has a cause. The best explanation would be an uncaused cause which would have to be God. Whatever created it had to be big enough, powerful enough and outside of space and time, to create something inside space and time. Which would have to be God. Nothing comes from nothing and nothing ever could. The universe could not have exploded out of nothing, let alone with such incredible precision. You don't get order out of chaos. Steven hawking has noted the following. "The universe would not decrease in the expansion rate one second after the big bang by only one part in one hundred thousand, million, million". This lead Hawking to conclude it would be very difficult to explain why the universe should have just begun in just this way, except as an act of God who intended to create beings like us.
      7. The anthropic principal. Life is balanced on a razors edge. Any closer to the sun we fry any further away, we freeze. Here's another example. If you changed the gravitational force by just one part in ten to the forty, nothing would exist. Whats one part in ten to the forty? Stretch a tape measure across the entire known universe, set gravity at one inch anywhere on that tape measure and if you move the force of gravity one inch in either direction, we don't exist. The earth's rotation of twenty four hours is just right. If it was a little bit more or a little bit less, we wouldn't be here. The axial tilt of twenty three and a half degrees is just right. If you change that just a smidge then we would not be here. If jupiter wasn't in its current orbit we would be bombarded with space materials. Jupiter acts as a cosmic vacuum cleaner for earth and attracts all comic space materials to it rather than earth.
      8. Life never comes from non life. That is the biggest blind leap of faith ever imaginable. To believe life comes from non life is incredible. Never once in my experience have I ever seen life come from non life. All of my observations tell me, plant life comes from plant life, animal life comes from animal life and human life comes from human life. The animate does not come from the inanimate. It absolutely never happens. Never one time in your experience have you seen life come from non life, ever.
      9. If there is no God, that means all of reality is reduced to matter and energy. You don't get love from matter and energy. If reality is only matter and energy it is impossible to have a free will. Because a free will means there is a me that goes beyond the complex chemical reactions in my brain. If there is no God, there is no free will because all I am is a complex chemical reaction; and you do not get a free will out of a complex chemical reaction. There is a soul, a personhood, a me, a conscience, that has the ability to reflect, possess emotion, and have a free will to decide what to do.
      10. Jesus Christ's death and resurrection is evidence for God. The majority of Jesus Christ's apostles got crucified/murdered not over a belief, they died for what they claim to have SEEN. Jesus Christ risen from the dead. A roman guard went up to them almost one after another and said, acknowledge Caesar as lord and live or maintain that Jesus is Lord and be killed. And they were all killed; most were crucified. Psychology studies have shown people do not die over what they know to be a lie. After Jesus Christ rose from the dead, he stayed on earth for 40 days and appeared to over 500 people. Paul wrote letters to the churches in the area and told them to come talk to the eye witnesses. Which hundreds were still around in the area.
      11. Emperor Guang Wu's writings about Jesus Christ dying for our sins, being from heaven, the eclipse and the black sky, that the apostles also wrote about in the Bible. Emperor Guang Wu knew about all of this exactly when it happened and he was hundreds of thousands of miles away in east China and Christian missionaries didn't go there until decades later. There's no other explanation for this than God giving him supernatural signs.
      12. The fact every civilization that has ever existed has had a drive to seek God/creator/higher being. All throughout history everyone has always thought, wondered or searched for God. It's a universal human experience.
      13. Your rational mind points to a raitonal God. Because it's ludicrous to believe the raitonal comes from the irrational. That's why Charles Darwin in 1883 wrote wrote a letter to a man named Mr. Graham. He wrote, "If it's true that our minds are highly developed monkeys minds, why do we trust them to tell us the truth about reality? Would you trust the thoughts of a monkey?" He was struggling with epistemological nihilism. According to atheism you can't know anything because your mind is an accident. It comes from the irrational. It's far more reasonable to believe your mind comes from a rational being than to believe it comes from the irrational.
      14. The fulfilled prophecies of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ fulfilled over 324 prophecies with some of the earliest ones being carbon dated up to around nine hundred years before he even came to earth. Some stating how he would be crucified for our sins, rise on the third day, be born of a virgin, his ministry would mainly be in Galilee, he would be betrayed for 30 silver coins, he would be born in Bethlehem and many, many, more.
God is real. His Son Jesus Christ was a real historical figure and it's universally agreed upon by virtually every single scholar. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life and no one will get to The Father except through him.

Jesus Christ claims to be God and here's the proof directly from scripture. If the Gospels are not trustworthy, then the Quran is false because the Quran teaches that the gospels are the inspired, perfectly-preserved, authoritative words of God. But if the Gospels are trustworthy, then the Quran is STILL false because it teaches contradictory, mutually exclusive facts about key issues. The other problem people fail to realize is that to be and become a Christian in those early decades would not have been an easy worldly feat to accomplish. To have been a Christian would have meant to fundamentally and permanently alter your view of the world forever, while simultaneously facing the very real and dangerous prospect of state punishment. Again like stated in the video, men don’t die for false beliefs. Men can die believing false things, but when you compound all the other aspects of Christianity at the time, you can more clearly begin to understand why this would have been very difficult to achieve without having the full conviction that what you saw and experienced was real and what your brethren saw and experienced was also real.

It goes to show that whether you believe in Jesus or not, He was and is victorious not by means of sheer force or kingly glory, but rather by making Himself a living sacrifice and servant to others; something that He commands believers to do also. Though the world hated Him, He remained ever kind and loved unconditionally. It is such a beautiful message.

Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic.
He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on.
The sun "dies" for 3 days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north.
In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin"
The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind"
The sun is "The light of the World"
The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea.
"He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays.
Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo.
The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass.
The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12.
The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30.
The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes.
The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected.
The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe.
In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun throug the heavens.
Christianity is ancient astrology, it's just fables about the sun.

@@DemonCore618 unrelated topic. But. For the most part, the Classical-era Greeks "believed" in their gods in a similar way to how a modern American might believe in the Constitution. They were foundational for both national identity and civic institutions, and an important ideological hook to hang all sorts of ideas on, but didn't usually play a very big role in everyday life. Everyday religious practice tended to revolve around local cults which were sometimes very different from the big Olympian deities we normally think of.
The idea that the gods were metaphors for "phenomena occurring within nature" is basically the invention of the 19th century scholar Max MĂŒller: his view was that a statement like "Zeus makes it rain" was, originally, strictly linguistically equivalent to "it is raining". This was a very influential view, though the linguistic side of it disappeared in later theorists like Andrew Lang and George Frazer, who emphasised the grounding of myths in ritual and the irrational -- though they all shared the view that myths were essentially a fantasised reinterpretation of primal sentiments that were still shared by modern "civilised" people.
This is just one of several "big schools" of thought on the nature of myths: others include the psychoanalytic interpretations of Freud and Jung, the structuralist interpretations of Dumézil and Lévi-Strauss, and the "monomyth" of Joseph Campbell. None of these monolithic theories has really stuck in modern approaches to myth, because it has become more widely recognised that myths are just too complex to be explained by any one theory. Any one of these theories might apply in some cases, but fail completely in hundreds of others.
And, on the contrary, Christianity has more social and political elements as well as people arguing for its historical validity. But, I think the biggest difference is probably time frame removed from relevancy. But also - I have no idea. This is all speculation. That’s a good question.

It wasn't until later that Christians began to adapt and incorporate these pagan traditions into the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. Some early Christians were hesitant to celebrate Easter because of its pagan roots. Like with trinity... Christians absorbed the pagan world

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real, it's impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me; it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

Anyone ever think đŸ€”that Satan is the father of Catholics since they murdered and force conversions and have evil in them they try to hide and think trying is good enough for God? Satan is their father. They do dumb stuff like think the 2nd tier (saints) can influence all knowing God. Like a saint will tell God to look out for the m0nkey stalking their likeness and burning candles and praying. 'C'mon, make me look good and throw them bone'....what? The fact that their brain's work like that proves the pure evil inside of all of them. A pure evil that have caused things similar to racism and bigotry that have hurt good people. I think the main question one needs to answer honestly is:
"What's more important to me: knowing the truth, or being comfortable?"
I've observed that most people just want to be comfortable. And most people I've seen who say they want the trurh, only want it to the point that borders on discomfort. If the truth gets too uncomfortable, most will stop pursuing it or abandon it altogether. Just my observations.
In the end, ALL OF US will get the truth (like it or not; understand it or not). Enjoy your personal beliefs while you can. The truth doesn't care; it just is.
