- Hi loves! It's Kate from @journalwithkate on Instagram!
As an Archer & Olive Design Team member I've accumulated a lot, and I mean a LOT of bullet journals! Shout out to Archer & Olive! I'm living the bullet journal addict's dream!! I've been thinking...I have to think of ways to fill these journals other than regular bullet journaling. I've been scrolling through Pinterest for some inspo and came across several recipe spread. What a great idea!! Think of it....if you keep a Recipe Journal, there will be a day that you'll get to pass on the recipe journal to the next generation. The next generation will pass it on to the next and so forth. A unique cook book in bujo form!
I decided to start my own bullet journal cook book, especially because I have so many recipes from my grandma, my mother and my mother in law, written down on loose pieces of paper. This is the perfect way to organize all my treasured recipes!
I started by creating two mock up spreads to test out some ideas and I LOVE how it turned out! In this blog I'm sharing the two mock up spread with you!

Such a lovely idea!!
❤wow!
oh my gosh, this is soo gorgeous !! thanks for the inspo
Copic markers bleed right through that paper. Light watercolor or colored pencils would work
In my experience, I’ve layered with copics and they’ve never bled. Does it ghost on the back slightly? Yes, but not anymore than how copics ghost on other paper types.
@@cottonhxney That's weird. I've seen a ton of reviews of various journals and the 160 gsm paper always bleeds through with any alcohol based markers, like Sharpies too. since this person wants to use up too many journals I thought maybe they'd glue two pages together, or you could glue the top and bottom to make a side pocket, or glue the bottom and side for a top loading pocket. Or paste in a recipe from a magazine or other clipping. It's a fun idea to gather your favorite recipes
@@recoveringsoul755 I have Copic markers and they bleed through heavily in any notebook, like you said. The only way around it is painting with a tracing paper/plastic/OH-film under the page, so it doesn't ruin the next page and then glueing the pages together once you're done.
@@malintvedt2616 Right, the backside of the page is ruined. Although I have seen people use sketchbooks for oil painting if they treat the paper first with gesso or some other medium. I don't oil paint so I'm not sure if that was the right one. The tests I've seen tested all kinds of different art materials, even fountain pens, and the alcohol markers always go through. I think there is only one type of paper that doesn't bleed through for those markers but it has other drawbacks. I've even taken to putting plain water over pencil and ink tests to see if those colors run before finding out the hard way.
Copics do bleed through, you need paper with a speciality coating for alcohol inks. However many people still love using them in their A&O notebooks. Kate likes to stick pages together, cover the bleeding by sticking something on the other side of the page, or just simply embracing the interesting patterns made from the bleed through in the next spread! 💕
THIS IS SO SATISSFYING !!!! And inspiring Ima use this for my recipe book !! :))
Hope you have fun setting it up!
Nice 👍
Just a minor detail, flower or flour. My eye went straight to it
I think Kate did pretty well considering English is not her Native tongue :)
