Hi Patricia, you can add text in most (if not all) PDF annotation apps like the one in the video. Within the app, you can search for words. You can have it printed out but you'd have to make sure the printing company adds a margin for the spine
What other apps would this be compatible with?

I have hundreds of printed recipes. Can they be scanned and entered into this book or does each one need to be entered manually?
Hi Jimmy, I have recently had a similar inquiry. Basically, since it's a hyperlinked PDF and its functionality is limited to basic copy & paste. The Recipe text and ingredients are fairly easy to copy, that's as simple as ctrl + C, ctrl + V. As for cooking times, temperatures etc... that you will most likely have to do line by line. Having said that, I'm also a spreadsheet freak and I may be able to sort out all your recipes into the format that is needed for the recipe book, depending on what the original format looks like :)

I thought this was a tutorial on how to make the book now how to use your file, how do you make the file you imported?
