- Live tank CT and dead tank CT are the two most commonly used CTs in EHV system. It is often asked what is the difference between these two CTs. So in this video I would explain the difference between these two CTs.
This video is also applicable for the following topics.

Nice explanation
Good one! To add to it, a dead tank CT is costlier due to the extra length of the copper conductor and the extra insulation required for the extra length of the downward loop. Hence, most of the CTs I see are live tank types in our place.
Yes
EE can see it in hybrid cb
Thank you for video~
Nice explanation.
nice explanation
Nice Explanation can you explain about CT used in GIS Stations
Nice
Thanks Sir 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sir can u make video on different types of pt like CVT, IVT and differences and its applications
Pls explain about switchyard operation
Sir, please make videos for generator protection
Generator protection is a huge subject. Okay I shall definitely make video on that. Actually I have plan for making video on entire protection system. But that will surely take time. Please stay tuned
What will happen if u we connect reverse p1&p2 terminals I.e p2-p1
you have to take care during differential protection. other wise there is no issue.... i will make a video on differential relay, where this issue will be resolved
You say it is live rank..How you will earth it?
What the clearance you are talking about?
Please tell about advantages and disadvantages of each type. It is beneficial.
Thanks.
Yes live tank is not earthed. That is why it is called live.
@@electricaltechnologyandind5335 No ... You told clearance is less, so, earthing is not possible. It is incorrect statement.
Yes As the tank contaning the CT core is located near to the ehv line so you can not take earth connection to the tank. Beacuse that wont let you to have required phase to earth clearance.
@@electricaltechnologyandind5335 boss..Tank itself is live.
No i don't think so. Also not getting any such reference. Every documents showing an insulation where the primary winding enters the tank.
Also you think logically. If the tank is charged or directly connected with the supply then the tank need to carry the desired power at desired fault level. You also check at your end. And let me know.
Also if the tank is charged then certain amount of current will be by passed through the tank. So the CT will also show error
We want relays ansi codes and settings calculation
In which substation both the CT are used like 132 or 220 kv
Either live or dead. Dead tank is rarely usd for 220kv above
Why dead tank ct not used above 220kv, it is more safe than live tank ct I guess?@@electricaltechnologyandind5335
