    Dead tank is use in Gas insulation switchgear,
    Sir your explanation is very helpfull for understanding substation, before i was working in instrumentation and now my company suggest to work in substation, so i watch you video for learning substation, thanks a lot of you sir

    VERY helpful, thank you! DO you know by the approximate cost different between a Dead tank breaker and Live Tank breaker? I'm trying to figure out the difference between a live and dead for a 230kV breaker

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  Před 6 měsíci

      Dead tank should be at least 2 times expensive than the live tank.

    • @melanief8258
      @melanief8258 Před 6 měsíci

      Wow, thats incredible! I assume the dead tank requires a larger foundation as well?@@GauravJ But its easier to install since all components are encased and pre-assembled?

    Could you clarify why you said that live tank CBs require more space than dead tank ? in my experience it is the otherway because the interrupter in the dead tank is horizontal so the CB is bigger

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  Před rokem

      Live tank breaker meeds more space because the insulation is provided by Air. On the other hand in the case of a dead tank it is provided by an insulating medium better than air like SF6 gas and hence it needs less space. You can consider an example of GIS.

      @angels_besties Před rokem

      @@GauravJ hey thanks for your response. I was refering to the horizontal space of a whole bay. If you used a live tank -which could be SF6 or vacuum- you will find that the space required is all vertical so the horizontal space required in less that the case where you used dead tank where the space is horizontal which requires more horizontal space

    • @KiranBaranwal
      @KiranBaranwal Před 11 měsíci +2

      You have to maintain more space between two phases in a live tank circuit breaker to provide the insulation compared to dead tank circuit breaker. Hence the horizontal space consumption is more.

    Dead tank c b
