When Elvis was still an early teens and he’d be setting on the porch steps playing with the old colored man. My mom would pull in get her guitar out and set on the edge of the porch, and play and sing together. Did we know what was happening???? No, her was just a kid playing and singing and we laughed. But my mom and her siblens would set on mamaws old porch play and sing together, as us kids would set and swing our feet off the edge of the porch. Depression, WW II, papaw had some how got all 8 of his kids a guitar, and oh they would play and sing .. oh the best memories of all.

They use the same decorations that were used when Elvis was alive and decorate it just the way he had it done! That picture of the house wasn't a painting,it was actually Graceland!
Graceland is wonderful. We stayed at the Guesthouse and it was perfect. ❤️
That is a 15 foot custom made white sofa in Elvis' formal living room, seen next to the white tree ... peacock stained glass doorway leading into the music room where the piano sits. You'll have a blast seeing all of this in person.

I just realized listening to this song - that someone yesterday said they don't like Elvis because when he sings it's like he can't sing so that's why he does these things with the notes and whatnot (this is the gist of the person's complaints) I'm not a musician, but just realized - I think it's called vibrato! It’s a Christmas song first released in 1988 but looking a contender to be our Christmas number 1 in the UK after the passing of lead singer Shane McGowan a couple of weeks ago. It also features the late Kirsty Macoll who tragically died in 2000 after being struck by a powerboat whilst saving her son in Mexico 💔

Besides Elvis videos I also watch baking videos, DIY hairstyle videos, & believe it or not historical dressmakers videos. (I do not sew. But I am amazed at these women who make their own vintage style clothing.)
I watch other stuff. But anyways yeah. I make my own fudge. I'm a semi home baker. Not a professional. Just FYI.
Now my signature Christmas cookie is an oatmeal cookie with dried cranberries and white chocolate chips. I also make an oatmeal toffee chip cookie. Two of my biggest cookie hits. Lol 😁

@@sammy_the_uncool2702 Miss Sammy - good to know the traditions go on. My grandma's ginger cookie recipe was so good that she submitted it to Southern Living Magazine. They tested it, and published it, but they CUT THE AMOUNT OF THE SPICES BY HALF, saying the flavor was too intense. Bushwa. My mom's butter cookies are my favorites - she had to put them on top of the cupboards so us kids wouldn't gobble them before Christmas. I also do a lot of baking at home, and usually take 12-20 gingerbread houses - everything edible but the lollipop sticks - to the local Christmas craft show. All is well with us, and I wish the same for you and yours. A very Merry Christmas to you. KP

@@Kathryne0816 Oh man... I had to help my sister bake and build a gingerbread house for a school project. My Mom and I had to help her put this thing together and my sister didn't tell us about it until close to when it was due.
So we scrabbled, sweating and huffing and puffing while we struggled to get this gingerbread house together and to decorate it.
It didn't look great, I'll be honest but the fact that we got it done is- in my opinion- an accomplishment.
I should add that there is half a decade of years between my sister and I. She was young. In grade school, not even middle school.
And I LOVE cinnamon and nutmeg (as well as ginger and anise and all those warming spices).
So I am sure that you are right in your dismissal of the Southern Living magazine cutting your mother's called for spices measurements in half.

Graceland Fun Facts: The couch you saw in that picture is one Elvis had made custom; it is 15 feet long. The coffee table is also one that Elvis had custom made and it has a smoked glass top and is 10 feet long.
The piano was not the one Elvis had in his home. Elvis's music room piano was a piano he "rescued" from the basement of Ellis Stadium in Memphis (now defunct, no longer standing) in 1957.
Elvis seemed to have known his music instruments. Because that piano he rescued from a fate of being broken down to firewood was a 1900's W.M. Knabe.
They were an American piano manufacturer company and the finest in the world in the early 20th century.
They were so world renown that the Metropolitan Opera House exclusively used their pianos from circa 1900 to circa 1930. (This is a rough estimation).
So Elvis must have known the true quality of that piano and that's why I think he bought that piano because Elvis was not usually into used. He liked new stuff. He got rid of some of the antiques that were left over from the previous owners of Graceland (the Toof family).
So he bought that W.M. Knabe and had it custom painted white with gold accents (at one point they somehow disappeared from the side of the piano and it is a mystery to this day where they went or why they were removed).
To match his new white and gold piano, Elvis had a white piano bench custom made with a custom tufted white seat cushion.
Now the following story... I have no idea if it is true or not I have no way of really confirming it.
But in the spirit of a dang funny yarn I'm gonna tell it anyway.
So this is after Elvis got Graceland all re- decorated (mostly to his mother's liking because he bought the house mainly for his parents), he invites friends and relatives over for a housewarming party and one of those people that shows up is Jerry Lee Lewis.
Now Elvis had a rep for banging away at the guitar that he'd snap a string.
Jerry Lee Lewis had the same rep except with pianos. He'd bang away at a piano so hard that he'd cause one string or more to snap.
But Jerry Lee Lewis could never resist a piano he never played before and so when he saw Elvis's "brand new" white and gold piano he got that itch to play it.
Whenever he thought Elvis wasn't watching Jerry Lee Lewis would sidle up closer and closer to that piano.
And just when he was inches away he heard Elvis boom at him, "Jerry you sonovabitch, you stay away from my piano!"
Jerry Lee Lewis halts in his tracks and pouts at Elvis. "Aww, Elvis I was only-"
"You were only nothin'. You break my piano, I'll break you."
At that point Gladys gasps and scolds her son, "Elvis! You know better than to use such language."
Elvis immediately looks contrite and apologizes, "Aw, Mama, I'm sorry."
And that's it everyone! The end!

Shame that I could not find any real confirmation whether that story is true or not. I can't remember where I read that story but it stuck in my head because it's just such a dang good tickle- your- funny- bone story.
Too Billy Smith told a similar story about when Elvis went to take his driving test (to get his license). One of his uncles took him in his car and Elvis was sitting in the front passenger seat and Vernon and Gladys were sitting in the back seat.
Anyway, while Elvis's uncle is driving this guy decides to try to cut Elvis's uncle off, backing out of his driveway at a good clip. He almost hit Elvis's uncle's car and Elvis lost his temper, sticking his head and shoulders out the passenger side window and yelling at the guy, "You stupid sonovab*tch you coulda killed somebody!"
Of course Gladys scolded her son for his language saying, "Elvis! You know not to use that language!"
And Elvis while contrite said to his mother, "I'm sorry, Mama, but this sonovab*tch this right here..."
So I could see Elvis forgetting his manners when he saw Jerry Lee Lewis getting too close to his prized piano.
He was a human being. We all know he cussed and stuff.
