Ray, Your sentiments regarding Elvis and Mr. Rufus were spot on. The King is the ONLY person I have heard who sang the blues, gospel, rock, pop, and country all in the same concert. I would like to know if people can one day see that. Sad that he didn't live long enough to be presented with the respect and National Medal of Freedom he deserved. Especially since he was a veteran. It's just a loss.

Elvis singing was a product of his culture growing up. Just because he arranged/produced and sang songs better than anyone else ever has, many jealous souls wished to bring him down by spreading hate-filled disinformation about him. The bottom line is: Elvis’ music was a reflection of his own culture.

He was influenced by music he grew up listening to. That was gospel, country and yes blues from black music when he'd sneak down and sit outside listening to blues at the juke joints Elvis grew up in a hood of sorts where there were only 3 white families lived in a black neighborhood. Everyone there looks bed a sharecroppers life and we're dirt poor. You are a product of your environment and that includes music. Elvis style came from all those influences! I lived in a all black neighborhood and went to a black school. There were only 2 white families in my neighborhood and we were one of them. There were only 13 white kids in my school and myself and siblings were 4 of those. I believe like Elvis it helped me Not to be prejudice against people of color . That's the way we raised our 6 children and their black friends were always welcome in our home. My niece married a black man and has mixed children that are very beautiful and very smart! My husband was from SC where prejudice was rampant, but he was always like me,looked at character Not color! It's amazing because he was alot older than me by 17 years. My best friend was black and let me tell y'all, blacks have the same problems and hopes and dreams as white people! People need to get over themselves! I've been discriminated by blacks before also, and that's just a result of being taught racism. Children aren't born racists they are taught by both sides! People need to wake up! We are All Gods children! I'm 75 years old and I've lived through riots and the struggle that black people went through! Please don't put us backwards! I grew up in a racist family but you don't have to follow that path!

ELVIS PRESLEY -In June 1956, he made the following statement about rock ’n’ roll to a reporter in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“The colored folks been singing it and playing it just like I’m doin’ now, man for more years than I know. They played it like that in the shanties and in their juke joints, and nobody paid it no mind ’til I goosed it up. I got it from them. Down in Tupelo, Mississippi, I used to hear old Arthur Crudup bang his box the way I do now, and I said if I ever got to the place where I could feel like old Arthur felt, I’d be a music man like nobody ever saw.” - ELVIS PRESLEY

Rufus KNEW Elvis. He understood the times and the man. He was so cool and honest for standing up for Elvis. Thank YOU for standing up for Elvis Ray. Im a music historian. Here's the research I and others have done. It took some time to compile these items, but they are each so important to the history of a nation, our social consciousness, and love for music and the arts. Here we go:
FACT: The music business was racist. ELVIS FOUGHT THAT. 1. Elvis NEVER stole a song. 2. HE DEMANDED that black songwriters got paid. Elvis paid royalties to each songwriter, based off of HIS OWN sales. ALL Elvis' songwriters were paid, including black songwriters (Otis Blackwell's family stated that ELVIS BOOSTED Otis' fledgling career and he was even able to tour again with song royalties.)
FACT: Elvis opened up THREE NEW REVENUE STREAMS FOR BLACK SONGWRITERS.
    1. Song Rights.
    2. Royalty checks based on Elvis' own sales.
    3. Black artists' OWN RECORD SALES would skyrocket when Elvis covered their song because ELVIS CREDITED EACH SONGWRITER ON HIS ALBUMS, no exceptions. So many Elvis fans would buy the original album or the 45 single of the original artist as well.
FACT: Black songwriters SOLD SONG RIGHTS TO ELVIS - SO THIS IS A BIG MISUNDERSTANDING in the black community today. The truth is that Elvis Presley is credited for tearing down walls of racism in the music business. Not by words and interviews but BY ACTIONS. There is also proof that Elvis fought for the Sweet Inspirations, his black female singers that were barred in clubs and stadiums down south. Elvis would REFUSE to play music venues unless they would be allowed to accompany him AND BE TREATED WITH THE SAME DIGNITY AND RESPECT that he received. This ENDED those "colored only" entrances around the south. So Presley was actually quite the REBEL.
FACT: Rock music IS NOT only Black Music. Rock music is also mainly made up of Country music (mostly white artists), and Gospel music (many white and black churches and artists) and the Blues (mostly black artists). Lets add to that the legendary song writers (such as Leiber and Stoller). Lets also add European, Asian, Middle East and African cultures where many music instruments used in Rock music were invented. That's where rock and roll sprang from. Elvis Presley is the only musician inducted into the Gospel, R&B, Country and Rock Halls of Fame.
FACT: Elvis Presley was singing in the 1940s in black and white churches down south during segregation in the Great Depression, putting together/arranging new sounds, before Chuck Berry and Little Richard ever cut a record in the 1950s. ELVIS MERGED THE BLUES AND ROCKABILLY AND GOSPEL and gave it a sound and stage presentation. NOBODY LOOKED OR SOUNDED LIKE HIM…. He was absolutely one of its pioneers and he engineered a very creative style that’s inspired everyone in the business one way or another. Elvis gave credit to many in the black community. Arthur Cruddup, Mahelia Jackson, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, James Brown, Fats Domino. And they ALL sang their music FOR THE SAME REASON: TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER.
FACT: Elvis' viewpoint coming from dirt poverty was profound. His twin brother was stillborn and buried in a shoebox. His home was a shotgun shack with no electricity or running water. That was his humble beginnings. He grew up in two legendary neighborhoods Shakerag in Mississippi and Beale Street in Memphis Tennessee. Elvis came from gospel and country and knew as many blues songs as BB King (BB said that!) and they were great friends as you saw in the movie. That’s the holy trinity of rock ‘n’ roll. So Elvis was absolutely a pioneer as he was singing before Little Richard and Chuck Berry cut their first record.
FACT: Little Richard exposed the truth about Elvis about this very topic. "Elvis made my song TUTTI FRUITI bigger, and made ME BIGGER" and he said THIS: “I thank God for Elvis Presley. I thank the Lord for sending Elvis to open the door so I could walk down the road...” - Little Richard. Elvis paid his black songwriters very well. And that is THE TRUTH.
FACT: Elvis was different, and his perspective was different than most white people of his day, especially among other whites in the South. Elvis grew up in the poorest parts of the South during the Great Depression and Segregation. And he understood the very lowest depths of poverty. Only 4 white families on his block, he lived and played with black children while living in a 1 room shotgun shack without running water and without electricity. His father built the home with a borrowed $150, then lost it because they couldn't afford to pay it back.
How poor was Elvis? His twin brother Jesse Garon Presley was still born about 30 minutes before Elvis... and were so poor that they couldn't afford a coffin, so Jesse had to be buried in a shoebox. He was laid to rest in Priceville Memorial Gardens in Tupelo. A SHOE BOX. This is why Elvis REMAINED HUMBLE and did his humanitarian and social work WITHOUT lights and cameras. He never did it for fame. He was invested in young people no matter who they were.

Did you know when Elvis was at a car lot, he saw a young black woman leaving the dealership crying when he was walking in. He stopped her to find out what was wrong. She explained she had just started college and was looking for a job, but didn't qualify to buy a car. Not only did Elvis buy her a new car that day, he told her to be at Graceland Monday for a new job. Her job was to answer the house phone, while doing all her college studies. He paid her to do her work for school. He didn't see color. He was so genuine. I love what he did for this complete stranger..black or white, or pink or gray. Elvis is king of the hearts!!!

Elvis music was a organic manifestation of the music from his early childhood influences and his environment he was brought up in. Like attending Congregation at "The Assembly of God Church" in East Tupelo. To his childhood idol, Mississippi Slims Weekly Live Radio Shows "Singin and Pickin" Hillbilly at the WELO Jamboree broadcasts. Then down to Memphis Tennessee on Beale Street, tuning in to DJ Dewey Phillips "Red Hot and Blue" and hanging out with his mate's at Charlie's Record Store. R&B, Bluegrass, Southern Country and western, Christian Gospel, Blues, Hillbilly and Pop. He loved Gospel Quartets, his favourites The Statesman and The Blackwood brothers. As a child Bluegrass and Country was played daily in his home, Gladys his Mother's favourite was Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass boys. Music was in his blood, unconsciously all the sounds around him naturally manifested, channelling through him in an organic way, not contrived or in a conscious way, certainly not copied or taught!. A spontaneous interpretation of everything he had absorbed, experienced and heard, and came out of him aged Eighteen, in a way which sounded like nobody!

Thank you for your reaction to Elvis (Jan. 8, 1935-Aug. 16, 1977). Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, in a 2 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory.
Elvis always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather, Jesse Dunning Presley, was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. J.D. Presley was quite the racist a-hole, often drunk and a philandering husband to Minnie Mae (they were actually separated long before they finally divorced in 1954) who was always competing with his sons Vester and Vernon and who was known to abuse his kids when drunk. J.D. was was publicly against race mixing and was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. It was more publicly known that the Smith family had Native blood in their family tree, so when both his sons fell for 2 Smith sisters and Vernon, on top of that, was still a minor at 17 when he eloped with Gladys who was 4 years older than him, Jesse was totally pissed off.
As a child, Elvis already had many friends in the black community at the time his family was one of 4 "white" families that lived in the predominantly black neighborhood The Hill, just across from Shake Rag. His childhood friend Sam Bell said that some of the (black) kids in that neighborhood had lighter skin than Elvis (czcams.com/video/LrFCyNMvZWk/video.html). One of Elvis' bodyguards once said that he thought it was a miracle Elvis got into Humes High School in Memphis, because it was "lily white". Elvis wanted to be more open about his Native ancestry, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.

By the 16th Century large scale immigration of English, French and Spanish settlers brought new kinds of folk music to the Americas. This was followed by the importation of African slave's, bringing their music with them. Immigrants from England, the Scottish lowlands and Ulster arrived in Appalachia in the 17th and 18th Centuries. In the 19th century, immigration from China, then Japan, India, Scotland, Poland, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Sweden, Ukraine and Armenian arrived in large scale numbers. The Country's ethnic History and musical diversity grew into a melting pot of different people's. Black Spiritual Gospel was strongly influenced by Celtic music of the British Isles, when they had contact with them, especially Scottish and Irish music, particularly religious songs, this would later evolve into what we know as Appalachian music and was a key influence on the early development of Old time music, Country music, Bluegrass and Rock n Roll. These Celtic traditions would have influence on Gospel music, In the beginning when the British brought the first Africans to America, they would convert to Christianity and would have been influenced by the religious songs of the Puritans. Work songs and field Hollers were popular with African Americans, but it was the Spirituals, Christian songs, which dominated with passionate earthy vocals, similar to the Church music of Scotland, which was performed in a African, Scottish style call and response format, using hymns derived from New England.Choirs. African slave's brought with them the Akoning/Bango to the Americas. Originally from Arbia, and brought to Western Africa by the spread of Islam, then to America by African slave's. Most instruments used in Jazz originated in Europe, Saxophone, Trumpet and piano etc. Blues, Jazz music we're also influenced by Western European music, especially on musical scale, and harmony, that is, the chords that accompany the tunes, chords played on the piano, Jazz harmony is similar to Classical music harmony. Practically all the musical genre's originating in the New world, the Americas, were based on the Union of White and Black music, and to a lesser extent Native American music. None of those musical genre's would have existed without the influence of these cultures.

Yes Charlie Pride is a black Country artist, Darius Rucker from Hootie and the blowfish went to Country and Jimmy Hendrix did very hard rock. These are ridiculous arguments the same as " he was a racist ". Because that mindset was alot of white America at the time people decided to put that on Elvis Presleys shoulders to carry. Pinning labels on people without knowing their story is ignorant and lazy and very easy to do. You hit the nail on the head. He got it from both sides but was man enough to stand his ground. No artist took as much as he did. Most wouldn't have had the guts. Vicki

People that think that way Elvis stole black music are dumb. As Rufus Thomas said music is music. By Elvis singing what was considered race music in the 50's opened up all kind of music to the country and the world. When a black opera singer sings opera is he or she stealing opera? That would be stupid!

Morning R’Elvis and Mrs vibes. An auspicious day for your family, with the graduation of your sons. You must be busting with pride! I’m sure they are very excited looking forward to their next adventure in their college and school.
Elvis still brings people together. That’s what aggravated people back in 1955 and caused his controversy and made people dislike him and want to cancel him. They feared the power of the reactions his music caused. He never saw colour. Sadly the “stealing music” and “ Elvis is racist” and “Elvis hates Mexicans” was put out there in the press for the nefarious reasons of people who wanted to denigrate Elvis for their own shallow reasons. Elvis was never allowed into Mexico because he was declared “ Persona non grata” by the Mexican Government!! All because a person wrote lies about Elvis and incited riots in Mexico City at the release of his film “King Creole”.
People are quick today to believe everything they read on the internet and it is so good to know people like you are finding the truth about Elvis and taking time to understand him as the humanitarian he was. Thank you so much. 👌💕🕺

so how come nobody complains about the 100s of cover songs of Elvis' music (cant help falling inlove, suspicious minds etc etc) or the many singers/artists who were inspired by Elvis and copied his hair, wardrobe, voice, movements etc- theyre doing the same as what Elvis allegedly done so why is Elvis copping the heat? Maybe people are jealous that he performed it better than the original artist which is a pretty rare accomplishment. Love Ya Relvis, ive watched every reaction & even if that viewer was right in saying you werent real about Elvis, youre still promoting his legacy and dragging 1,000s of people down the Elvis rabbit hole with you. Ray is making a reaction to an Elvis song, he is completely absorbed by the song.
Suddenly he hears a woman's voice that he recognizes saying:
I met him once when I was little, Ray looks around, but he doesn't see anyone.
He continues listening to the song, but can't really concentrate, then he hears a man's voice he recognizes saying:
He was a good friend of mine, I really appreciate your tribute to my friend, I paid tribute to him with my version of Love me tender.
Ray looks around a little annoyed, he asks his helper to stop messing with him, he doesn't see anyone else there.
Then he starts the video again, he starts listening again, everything is fine and he can focus a little more again, but suddenly it happens again, although now he hears a man's voice that he definitely recognizes saying:
Thank you for honoring my life's work and for having such a wonderful sense of humor, you make people happy and proud of both me and the honor of listening to you Ray.
Ray gets up and shakes a little, he looks around, he looks at his aide to his right and suddenly Ray realizes that the voices weren't coming from there, they were coming from the left side.
He sits down and shakes his head, intending to try to play the video to the end, although shaken up, he starts the video, but can't let go of the voices completely.
My mind goes back and forth, I know who it was, I recognize both the first and second voices, I know for sure who the third was, but it can't be like that, can it?
Nah stop now Ray, you're probably just tired, or stressed, the video is running, but Ray mumbles his thoughts out loud, not silently to himself as he thinks.
The female voice and the first male voice simultaneously say:
Now wake up Ray, we want to meet you, you're one of our heroes, although you should be reacting to our songs too, not just his.
    The third voice then says:
Ray is a hero to me for sure, but I think he loves you guys just as much, the only thing is… the voice trails off and Ray looks around annoyed, wondering what's going on.
Then he hears a knock and jumps, he runs to the door and opens it, he is annoyed and yawns loudly:
What the hell... he sees who knocked and just stands there silently and stares.
There is a limousine there with an open door, the person half-half shoves Ray into the limousine and sits down and drives, Ray sits and just shakes his head.
I must be dreaming, he tells himself, this isn't happening, it isn't happening.
Suddenly the car stops and the door opens, they are outside the Arcade restaurant in Memphis, but the driver is gone.
Ray walks in and a waitress takes him to a table, there are people sitting in the dark, no lights are on right there.
He stands at the only free chair, there are four people sitting there, but he doesn't see who they are, Ray is very excited, what is this joke he thinks.
One of the employees there suddenly turns on the light and Ray staggers and looks around in a daze, he sees that the place is empty, but wait he's facing the wrong way, so he slowly turns around.
When he turns a little more towards the table, he sees a beautiful woman he recognizes saying hello Ray, Ray stammers out a hello.
He continues the movement towards the table as if in slow motion, he undoubtedly recognizes the man sitting there and stammers out a hello and the man says hello and smiles.
Now he is almost completely facing the table and sees who the driver was and yes it is him, his one big superhero saying hi Ray and smiling broadly.
Ray stops in his tracks, what's going on, he rubs his eyes, can it be true, yes it is because he sees Whitney Houston sitting on the first chair, on the second is sitting Mr. Soul James Brown.
He begins to twist some more and the reason Ray suddenly comes to a complete stop, it's obvious to anyone who knows Ray, the driver is very much Eminem, Ray stares at all three as if hypnotized.
All three of them smile at him and say that they were hoping he would want to meet them and maybe jam a little with them.
Ray doesn't know where to look anymore, but then his feet finally land in place and Ray just stares at him.
The man standing in front of him shaking his hand is a young Elvis Presley, Ray is about to fall over, but both Elvis and Eminem hold him up.
They manage to get Ray to sit down and they talk for probably an hour before Elvis says:
Ray did you want to jam with us, Ray stammers out a yes and suddenly they are in a studio singing a few different songs together.
They go through a couple of Whitney's songs, they play some of James' songs and then some of Eminem's, they finish with some of Elvis' songs.
Several hours have passed since they met and they decide to do this again, but only as long as Ray continues his positive reaction way, he just has to play one of the other three singers' songs sometimes.

Just another fact about that December 7, 1956 event, Ray: That was a charitable event to help raise money for Black- American families with children with either lifelong or severe illnesses (such as polio). That following Christmas Elvis pledged to donate no less than a 100K to multiple charities- in Memphis, in the state of Tennessee, in Tupelo, MS, and even nation- wide charities.
Also: When Elvis performed "Peace In The Valley" on The Ed Sullivan Show, Elvis used that to raise awareness about Hungarian refugees (Hungary was being invaded by the then USSR/ Soviet Union).
He also donated to Jewish- American charities, Lebanese & Syrian- American charities. This is all documented fact.
Elvis just wanted to use his newfound success and status to help people.
As Elvis himself said, "I am so lucky to be in a position to give. Being in a position to give is a gift."
That I truly believe was the real Elvis.
He also said once, "Cut me and I bleed just like everybody else."
He was human and Elvis never pretended to be anything but human.
As he himself once said too, "The image is one thing and the human being is another. It's very hard to live up to an image, I'll put it that way."
Elvis was a human being & I truly believe after all the research I've done Elvis was a man who just loved music, all kinds of music. Elvis even liked music that some might be surprised by- from Brahms to KISS.
He loved Gospel, he loved the Blues, he loved Country, he loved Bluegrass & R&B/ Soul. And if one actually does dig deeper into Elvis's catalogue you'll note what is also documented fact: In his 23 year career, Elvis covered no less than 11 different genres and subgenres of music.
With Elvis & his music, there really is something for everyone.
And I will say that about music, period. Music is for everyone.
And just FYI: One of the early performers at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN was Black- American.
Deford Bailey was quote: "One of the Grand Ole Opry's early performers and was country's first African- American star." Deford Bailey was a harmonica player in both country music and the Blues.
And in opera, you have Marian Anderson who was not only a Black American opera singer, but she was one of the very first performers period to sing before an integrated audience on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Easter Sunday of April 9, 1939 with the aid of then First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.
Marian Anderson also has the unique distinction of being the very first person to be awarded the Medal of Freedom by President John F. Kennedy.
You also have Mattiwilda Dobbs another early 20th century Black- American opera singer who was the first Black- American opera singer to have recieve a long term contract and to sing a lead role Metroplitan opera in New York City. She was also the first Black- American opera singer to sing a lead role at the San Francisco opera as well as the first Black- American opera singers to sing at the prestigious opera house La Scala in Italy.
I am always open to learning. I am always open to having healthy discussions. But what I am not open to? Being told how to think and what to think. That I will walk away from. I like the music I like.
And I would never presume to tell another how to think or what to think. Absolutely not.
That's not how I roll as a person.
Okay, let me stop my ramblings!
SHOUT OUT TO BURT FOR THIS ONE 💙💐💙💐💙💐💙💐 AND THANK YOU RAY FOR YET ANOTHER 🔥🔥🔥🔥 REACTION! As always, Ray, I have enjoyed your Story Time 💯

There's a culturalist, writer and movie director by the name of Nelson George who addressed this topic on a podcast called Art Matters in 2021. It's not too long and other channels have used it if you're interested. George is African-American and he was a consultant on the Elvis movie for which he was accused of being a traitor to Black people. In the podcast interview he explains how that's a misunderstanding of how art works. He says that artists will borrow from wherever; including Black artists.

Elvis didn’t steal any songs. Elvis, did, like many singers, cover songs. Elvis definitely made them better by his sex appeal, and beautiful voice. I can name many bands or solo artists that do covers. For example, Mariah Carey, Home Free, Pentatonix, Whitney Houston, and many rappers. People can say whatever they like, but Elvis was successful in many ways. Give Elvis his credit, and let him rest in peace.❤

Elvis did alot of charity concerts for black cauuses and also donated to their boys clubs etc. He would've been more vocal on social issues but his manager forbid it , because he thought it wouldn't be good for his image. But Elvis did things on his own time! It was very brave of him doing this fund raiser at the beginning of his career if you think about it. Elvis stayed true to himself when it came to things like that . Even living in the time of segregation in the deep south! I grew up with Motown and counrty and the beetles. That's why I love all genres of music! ( Mainly when Elvis sings it of course)

Exactly Music is universal! That would be like saying Angelina Jordan is stealing music because she covers so many artist's songs and blows it out of the water more than the original!
It's like you said it's about the feeling and passion the artist puts into the music not the color of the artist singing it! I don't love Elvis because he's white I love him because of what I feel when I see and hear him sing and also just his beautiful personality! Nat King Cole is my favorite old school Crooner not because he's black but because you feel the song when he sings! I love Sinatra and Dean Martin too but Nat King Cole is my favorite that, man is sexy and has sexy voice!
I love Little Richard too, he was an originator that started the ball rolling for rock and roll but I enjoy Elvis singing better not because he's white and Little Richard is Black...not only did Elvis incorporate gospel and R and B, he incorporated country and rockabilly he brought two worlds together and meshed it into an amazing sound...music didn't have a color to him and he showed us that! So when he sang Country did he steal that??? It just makes no sense!
Elvis just had something else, plus Elvis is a walking orgasm❤! Hot Damn that man reminds me what it is to feel alive I've always loved him I grew up listening to him I was an 80s baby but he was a staple in my house growing up but I can honestly say I have fallen in love with the man not just the artist he wasn't percect but had a heart of gold and you feel it when he sings or talks or you hear stories about him he lights up a room even now that he's been gone so long.
I don't know if you ever heard of Charlie Pride I was raised listening to alot of old music including alot of old school country so I know him but you should listen to him he was a very great black country artist my mom loved him one of his greats is "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" from the 70's. Again showing music has no color...I watched a documentary on Charlie Pride as a teenager, he fought alot of racism in his time from white people in the country music industry but he stuck to his passion of singing country.
I'm sorry you've dealt and deal with racism in this day and age, it just blows my mind the ignorant hateful people in this world!! What a loser and coward!! You my friend are a class act you didn't stoop to his level even though it pissed you off... it would piss me off!!! We all can learn to be more like that in handling crappy people! He infused multiple genres when he sang. It didn’t matter if he sang a country song or rhythm and blues song, people went crazy for it. Whatever he sang he put a unique sound and style to it, infusing gospel and amazing energy and passion making people celebrate different genres of music. It was his incredible voice and delivery…that made people really fall in love with the music, and Elvis. The famous country singers of that era have said they would’ve never made it, if not for Elvis. He led the way for them…legitimizing country music, and rhythm and blues music for the masses. He even brought gospel to the mainstream (and won 3 Grammies in gospel music). Best regards ~

Can I also say I went back over your reactions from the start, watched back then at the time and have been on your Elvis journey ever since. 6 months have flown by but I loved watching you fall in love with Elvis again, looked like he had you from the second verse of In The Ghetto but your reaction to If I Can Dream, I felt the excitement from you because that’s what every Elvis fan feels. Once you’re an Elvis fan that feeling never disappears, it only becomes stronger, well it has me anyway. Thanks Ray for giving us your time and great reactions. I always look forward to the next one 💙

The ONLY way to steal music is by singing a song and not giving writing credit to the writers. Case in point...Vanilla Ice did "Ice Ice Baby" to the beat/rhythm of "Under Pressure" which was written by Queen and David Bowie. He didn't give writing credit to them so he got sued.

Elvis absolutely is in the same bucket as Eminem as far as they were simply the best in their eras (and were white). Period. However Elvis > Eminem in my opinion though because Elvis actually was a social figure in that he brought people together during a youth revolution (50s) and then a civil rights revolution (60s), and changed trends in dress and hair and got young people to dance and VIBE to the music (50s-70s). That was a first on the grand national stage.
Elvis changed everything in the business. Furthermore, whereas Eminem came in AFTER hip hop was well established, Elvis came up WITH THE PIONEERS. He was AMONG THE PIONEERS. He WAS a pioneer. No doubt about it. Noone arranged gospel, the blues and country better than Presley. He did it IN the studio and he did it LIVE. He was so far ahead of the curve it was ridiculous. Way ahead of his time. He VIBES (literally with his facial expressions) like he's 70 years ahead of his time in the social media era, 7 DECADES before social media was even invented.

Good to see you getting back to yourself and feeling better. My son has been going through it with his stones the past 2 days. I feel so helpless not being able to do anything!
