It took me about 10 days, but I have made it to the end of the 24 hour day. My compliments to the entire team at Timeghost for this great piece of content.
sadly the views are abyssmal for a project that size :(
Took me awhile too - but I would see something interesting and investigate it to find out more, then come back - i feel my knowledge base about D-Day has increased substantially.
Same I only just got here
It's taken me three weeks, but worth it!
Just got here. Perfect documentary and I just pick up and resume when I feel like it.
Closing in on the end now.
this is peak youtube content, deserves 100x more views, the amount of effort put into all this is astounding
Hes going to do a whole ass premier on d day but ignore barbarossa later this month smh
@@frumentariusfaustus7865 Barbarossa was 3 years before this event lol
@@frumentariusfaustus7865 as you have ignored bagration I'm sure they will at least cover it better
@@James_utd123 Ok and ? Its significance is 20x more important more than americas attempt at playing total war.
@@frumentariusfaustus7865 Operation Barbarossa lasted months. D-Day is a single day and is the largest naval invasion in history. You can make all the passive aggressive remarks about Barbarossa being more important all you want, it was covered in a normal format for a reason.
It's such a shame that you had technical difficulties streaming it live to this channel. With less than 1k simultaneous viewers on the d-day channel, this is criminally underrated.
This is why history often repeats itself because they are easily forgotten.
Really? I was there until hour 8 or so.
I think they did alright
Wiat waht I dint realize it was live-streamed
@@VIPERJ27 the first six hours were live on this channel. The second 6-hour segment had some issues to upload in time, so the rest was only livestreamed hour per hour on the specially created D-day channel.
It has taken me about a week to watch the whole 24 hours of content. I can't stress how much of a success this has been. I congratulate everyone who has been part of this and hope this becomes a product for the ages.
Seconded. It took me even longer but wow. Just wow.
And so concludes an epic in documentary and historiography. A documentary for the ages.
Great work TimeGhost Team. A documentary for the ages.
This is probably the most thorough treatment of D Day I have ever seen and it totally changed my perspective and appreciation of the sheer magnitude of the overall operation. Glad to have put in my modest pledge, and much appreciation to all who did and of course to the dedication of TimeGhost.
You guys are f****** superheroes. I hope this absolute treasure trove of historical documentary context of the D-Day invasion becomes standard viewing fare for generations of students of history. I've been completely obsessed with world war my entire life thanks to my grandfather who was knee-deep in it and my dad who was also obsessed, and though I'm a nerd who knows an awful lot, I've learned more than I ever knew in 30 years of study in 24 short hours. Well done and thanks so much
Your support and kind words mean the world to us!
We’re happy we could contribute to your WW2 obsession and that you enjoyed the show 😄
Do not forget to like and comment! Posting this many videos at once, they are likely to be forgotten to the algorithm. Let's do our part for the creators and for those involved in the war!
Nobody ever explained that damn algorithm, yet it's often cited when "explaining" why we can't have fun anymore.
Thanks for this amazing series. I’ve followed since your WWI series. So about 10 years. This D day special was awesome. Amazing work.
Man; I've been cramming watching this into every spare moment I've had for almost a week and I still have almost 4 hours left. I haven't even had a chance to check out the episode that dropped on Saturday yet! This is absolutely epic story-telling!
Haha same here, I've just finished the 24th hour
5:04:14 This heroic Canadian would later be instrumental in saving not one, but two humpback whales off the coast of San Francisco in 1986.
Excellent, do not be dismayed by the viewing numbers. We all have things to do and the weather here in the UK has been lovely. I have taken over 5 days to watch. Thank you, this will be used to educate and remind us of this incredible feat for a very long time.
Eight nights, this being the beauty of being now retired. and enjoyed all four episodes. it has been an enlightenment with regard to the british landings which were always portrayed as an simple "walk in the park" landing. many thanks. Now its back to the weekly episodes....
Kind of forgot James Doohan was in this. RIP Scottie.
Well, that was a remarkable journey. My gratitude to Indy, Sparty and the whole team for your work. This has been informative, spell-binding and an emotional roller-coaster.
We’re happy you could be there for this journey! We’re grateful to you!
@@WorldWarTwo I have been interested in WW2 since I was twelve, and at 38 I am still learning. This documentary busted some myths. Good work!
This channel, Tik history, and Drachinifel are pretty much the only reasons I watch CZcams. Thanks for your dedication and commitment to keeping the record straight!!!
Mark Felton?
Thank you guys. That was quite a trip. As a retired history teacher of 45yrs I salute you. Also, on 6th June go down to the Vet'sClub[RSA] with my regimental beret on and salute our father's names on the HonoursBoard. My Dad,Dan Murphy, was REME working on waterproof tanks for Sword Beach. Got there and Caen in 2015 & teared up a bit! So thank you from the bottom of my heart for your brilliant work. This was a great memorial year!
Superb. My dad flew a mission on D-Day as a ball-turret gunner in a B-17. Both my parents served during WWII. Almost all my friends' fathers were WWII vets. I'm no fan of war, but definitely a fan of history, and you've done a brilliant job presenting it. So much so, that I'm wondering what I'll look forward to on Saturday mornings 14 months from now.
21st of August 2023. 11:08 PM
The credits start scrolling.
I watched about 5 hours when it was live but I couldn't immediately catch up as I was half a year behind on the regular epiaodes.
Now I finished this just astonishing documentary and it really bothers me a bit that I couldn't really support this whole project financially, that is a monolith for future viewers that want to learn more about this day.
Now it is time to catch up the next two and a half months of this gigantic project that just blows most other channels out of the water.
Needless to say, this channel did not just change my perception of WW2 and might have also changed me as a person but also my old way of thinking about D-Day was puts on its head now.
I just want to say that you guys do such an amazing job and that every view is well deserved.
Keep it up. We all love it.❤
Sscond comment. It's really quite fun to see both Indy and Sparty together sharing banter.
@ ~ 4:30:00 I think one reason why Omaha Beach got its reputation was that the Americans coming from the UK were by and large not used to high casualties. 75% losses are tough in any case, but when it's your first experience of war...
All I can say is "Thank you," sincerely. Your compassion, passion, and dedication filled my heart with empathy and love. I feel as though we just ended a long, arduous journey together and am eagerly awaiting the next.
Took me 5 days to go through all four parts, but I'm so grateful that I did. Thank you to the TimeGhost Team for all your hard work in putting this together. It really does put a lot of things in to perspective as to how the objectives that were set were so difficult to achieve, and how the portrayal of missing the objectives has coloured the way this day has been remembered. I know it's changed my perception of D-Day from what it had been before now.
The WW2 Production and Staff may not know it yet, but their work will last forever. Well done.
Finally finished. Started June 6th. I'm the opposite of a binge watcher. Watched this in 15 minute increments. Well done Time Ghost team.
Took 12 days. Introduced a lot of concepts new to me that change the way of looking at some of the actions. Thanks ever so much - superb production.
Love that Paul was involved. His channel is another favorite of mine
Amazing you kept that level of quality for 24 hours of content, enthralling and beautifully scripted from start to finish.
utterly fantastic. this is going to be the gold standard for d-day learning for decades. i've tried my entire life to learn history - studied it almost every day for 35 years, but i keep coming back to this channel despite trying to learn about all the world and not just Europe. i decided to learn as much about the holocuast as i could even though it distrssed me so much. because every human should know. i can't express my gratitude to your team. thank you and thank you. always and forever thank you. i have learned so much.
I'm seriously looking forward to this channel's analysis of the Battle of the Bulge.
I home school my children. We have spent the last three days watching these 4 episodes and discussing their importance.
We got to see where their Great Grandfather landed (approx) and got to see a BIGGER picture thatn we usually get to see.
This has been an EXCELLENT teaching aid for them and my husband and I.
And I agree D-Day is NOT the tragedy that we are often told. It was the first of many victories, which lead to the liberation of Europe
Thank You, to EVERYONE involved in this production
Took me 2 days to watch all of this. Amazing job guys. Keep it up.
"That is no place for a blood bath". What a great way to finish this marathon. Thanks guys !
Appreciate the dedication!
Thank you for your support!
It's 6/16 and I just finished all 4, 6 hr videos. I read the d-day book by Ambrose, in high school, and this is just as important a document of this moment in human history. Love you all.
Just finished the full 24 hours. Phenomenal. Thank you to *all* involved. God bless you.
Thank you for making my very very small contribution have this HUGE amount on information and understanding.
I as a history buff who did think I did know the facts have been educated on a extremely large scale and have been myth busted almost every hour.
I born in 1967 had a “Longest day” movie view on things backed by documentaries and is now completely rethinking this day.
Thank you for setting the History right as you did and do with all your channels
Thank you so much for this. A documentary of the highest quality.
Absolutely phenomenal. Just finished all 24 hours, and it was a pleasure to watch. Thank you for all the hard work the entire team put into this, and all your other projects. It is a privilege to watch.
This 24 hour "blow by blow" treatise of D-day is simply a work of consummate genius......excellent! is the only way to describe it...many thanks!
Thank you so much 😊
we’re just happy you enjoyed!
Amazing job Timeghost. You have set the new standard for D Day documentaries :)
James Doohan story of friendly fire, he passed away, years ago, he would be in Star Trek, Scotty chief Engineer
Well, as of now I've only watched about 2 hours of this epic, but so far I'm enjoying every minute.
Also, not gonna lie--it's very fun to see my name in the credits. Very happy to have supported this!
Wow, budgeting 6 hours/ day to watch this & just finished. What a monumental production! Especially appreciated the myth-busting. Want to come back & rewatch soon. Thanks everyone!
Bravo! As a lifelong history geek interested in WW II, you have changed some of my thinking on the invasion (I'm 67) and I've read most of what's out out there and listened to my Uncles that were there. Fantastic Job!!
Dang! 3 weeks later, finally finished!
Great series!!!
That end credit scene though, 25 mins 😂
What a monumentall work you have done. Thanks for your comments about the people, all of them, allied soldiers, german soldiers, civilians. Thanks
It's taken a few days to get through all of it, but this had very much been worth all the time. Excellent job all around. Better detailed explanation that you can ever find in books alone. Outstanding!
I can't put into words how amazing the work you all do is. This 24 hours documentary has been an incredible highlight as well.
Also, please compliment Astrid on her Spanish pronounciation of Garbo's name. That rolled-R in García was *chef's kiss*.
I appreciate the effort to the pronounciation too ! They nailed every French words and names !
So I just now finished watching the entire 24 hours. This production is a towering achievement, thank you! One thing I think I can tell from the few small flaws (repeated segments, "map here" CG etc.) is that this effort took everything you had. I have been a part of ambitious projects in the past and I suspect that by 6 June your team were out of time, money, patience and cognitive and emotional bandwidth. I fervently hope that, at the very least, this week's regular episode was in the can and you all are still very drunk, and shall remain so for several more days...before pivoting to preparations for the bulge special?? I wish to thank the entire team for giving us so generously of your effort, we are all enriched by it.
It’s 1 am on the 25th of June, it has taken me 19 days to watch this 24 hours of amazing content. Wow. This puts everything on TV and main stream media to shame!!!!! I love this series and appreciate what you guys have done. All I can say is thank you.❤❤❤.
We’re so happy you watched the whole thing and enjoyed!
Hi Indy and Spartacus, what a great 24hrs broadcast. Rich in content and illustrations, perfectly hosted and produced by you, ...what a pleasure ... another great production, that sums to your weekby-week WW2 coverage and all special chapters presented...Pearl Harbor, Stalingrad, Dunkirk, etc... Super thanks for this wonderful historical work.
Just finished the whole 24 hours. Spotted a few mistakes here and there, but they were really minutiae compared to the "Big Picture". It is a mammoth video series folks. Well done to every single one of you! I learned quite alot. I always do when viewing your docs. Thanx so much for the work you do. I feel my monthly contribution is well spent. Never Forget.
"How did this all work out...I'm a plumber from Wisconsin,"
As someone from Wisconsin who watches every video on this channel, I've never felt more proud!
Awesome work on this documentary!
This was a fantastic undertaking, Time Ghost crew! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your time, your expertise (glitches are to be expected in as mammoth a production as this), and most of all your love of the subject! This was simply extraordinary. Bravo!
Absolutely phenomenal. It has taken me the better part of a week to watch and digest this 24 hours of information. I very much appreciate the myth busting.
The 15 minutes of Easter eggs at the end were wonderful! Thank you to the whole team!
One could consider the view counts on the subsequent videos in the project at this time to be comparatively low, but I think that's only due to the practical reality that I don't think anyone was able to watch for 24 hours. On waking up, your choices are to start where "now" is, or to start from the beginning. Worrying about missing key information, most people started from the beginning. I chose the former, with the full intention of watching back for full context. I would not be overly surprised if part 1 on the main channel reaches 400,000 views at a minimum quite soon, which is especially impressive considering how few other videos of such length will have that many views.
Quite like the reflection upon the day, it's not only about the initial surge or the somber reflection on any failures, but about the momentum that comes after the start and continues to build. I consider this documentary project to be the best and greatest ever produced, and I consider it an incredible gift to the whole world. I can't thank enough not only those on camera speaking, but also everyone involved even in small ways, those still allowed this to exist.
A triumph, both the landings and this show. Thank you to all involved, and I doubt there is a better video on this topic.
Holy smokes, if that wasn't the most complete documentation of D-Day ever made, I don't know what was. Entertaining, educational, a good mix of seriousness, yet still with the one or another light hearted tidbit thrown in... Really guys - you did it. It will take a long time, if ever, before anything akin to this quality will come out. I am seriously impressed.
And not only this - but the whole series.
Coming from Germany, history classes focus mostly on the attrocities and warcrimes with a strong message of 'never forget' and less about the military side.
But I think, you need to know the context of the war, its battles and movements to really understand what happened... or at least get a grasp on the utter madness of that time period.
So I am glad a show like this exists, because it's not only well made and educational in an entertaining way - it's also important to get a fuller picture...
In short: Thanks, to all of you.
Man, I would love to be a part of things like this. I worked in a museum years ago and loved giving the tours and learning about and discussing the history. I miss doing it.
This was fantastic, thank you to everyone invovled in this production.
Hats off once more to anyone and everyone who worked on this.
It was an absolute thrill to watch. And now I have the added benefit of being weeks behind on the regular channel, huzzah!
We’re so happy you enjoyed! 😄
Great job Timeghost WWII this coverage was truly monumental! Loved how you had other scholars interviewed and you guys myth busted so many myths!
Congratulations to all of you for the 24 hour D-Day compendium, it was simply fantastic! I consider myself to be a “armchair historian” of WW2, especially the western front. However, I learned a great deal from your 4-part series. Being American I thought I would be most interested in the Utah and Omaha detail, but I found your discussions of Sword, Juno, and Gold to hold my attention. Again, thank you for all your hard work, and for making a documentary for the ages.
Congrats on bringing this phenomenal project together. Y'all crushed it. Well done.
Thank you so much!
Final part, congratulations on this awesome documentary
It’s the greatest D-Day documentary in history!!
BRILLIANT. Just finished it, holy hell. Here’s to you, Time Ghost team and army.
That's my name right there! See it! That's the one! Glad to help out!
What, you think I'd give you the exact timestamp? I'm sneaky like that. 😉😛 I've only seen three hours at this point, but it's all been the amazing quality I've come to expect. Bravo!
amazing series. I've listen to hundred of documentaries on World War II and a lot of them were about the Normandy. And read as many books... This one is by fare the best, the most complete, detailed, researched and amazingly explained with amazing writing. Bravo. Listened to all 4 parts.
Prior to the postscript, after Sparty and Indy's closing monologue, I felt like standing up and clapping. What an achievement. Yes, it took several days to get through this content, but it seemed to pass quickly. It was time well spent and I learned a lot. Bravo!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the kind comment!
Took me over a month to finish these videos, learned a couple things!
I’ve finally made it to the final part!!!! Thanks for everything you all do!!
Hope you enjoyed the ride!
Thanks for watching!
I think it would be good to quote Ernest Hemingway on Omaha Beach:
“Those of our troops who were not wax-gray with seasickness, fighting it off, trying to hold on to themselves before they had to grab for the steel side of the boat, were watching the (battleship) Texas with a look of surprise and happiness. Under the steel helmets they looked like pikemen of the Middle Ages to whose aid in battle had come some strange and unbelievable monster. There would be a flash like a blast furnace from the 14-inch guns of the Texas that would lick far out from the ship. Then the yellow brown smoke would cloud out and, with smoke rolling, the concussion and report would hit us, jarring the men’s helmets. It struck your ear like the punch of a heavy, dry glove.”
Thank you and your helpers for the amazing amount of analysis, scripting, and video editing that went into this D-Day special event! I am looking forward to spending the next few days watching them. I've been reading about D-Day for more than 50 years, but anticipate gleaning new insights from your presentation. I'm only ten minutes into it and already feel like I was there, in this video as a German defense strategist thinking of all the possible invasion scenarios.
Excellent! I have really enjoyed your D-Day special. Thank you for your great efforts.
Brilliant 24hrs, thank you all for your hard work in producing such a gripping take on D-Day.
Just an absolutely amazing job to all who worked on this. I’ve just finished watching it and will be sure to watch it again with my kids when they are older.
Great job, really makes a difference.
Only comment, is that you should at least mention all the countries participated in the Allies side.
Besides US, UK, Canada & French troops, there were 20 more countries taking part in supporting D-Day.
In total, congrats for this production!
Nice to see the real Astrid is still here.
That's a great emotion around the end; that the veterans are happy with the families on the beach and they have a new memory to take home
Well done to all who were involved in producing D-day series. Great work 👏 👍
Thank you for this masterwork. I thoroughly appreciated it.
Thank you for all this content, truly an achievement and the kind of detailed content YT was made for compared to TV that always has to dumb everything down to the lowest common denominator audience.
I’ve watched every episode since this channel started religiously On a Sunday. Nearly 2 months after I started watching it. I’ve finally finished the d-day coverage.
Very impressive. Thanks
Finally an Astrid appearance!!!!
I'm only on hour 12, but what a ride it's been so far. Terrific achievement from the whole Time Ghost team.
This documentary is epic. The only one of its kind ever. Excellent work!
Thank you 😊
we try to keep things unique!
The effort it took for this series of videos is nothing less than monumental!
Don't we know it! 🤣
We're just happy that everyone can enjoy what we put together thanks to the TimeGhost Army!
Bravo to the team. It has taken me until now to watch it all. Thank you for a wonderful production.
Exelent work, the longest day is finally over. The war is not over, but now the road to victory can be seen
One of the biggest takeaways from this is debunking the myth that the Nazi war machine was this massive, impenetrable, technologically advanced, force that the Allies were lucky to break through. The reality is that while they were formidable, the Allies were better in tech, better in pre-invasion shenanigans, better in planning, better in HUBRIS, better in leadership (see: hubris as well)
Wonderful undertaking, thanks so much for this
What a supreme source to gain a comprehensive knowledge of ALL issues associated with D-day.
This four part series should be used by all teachers and students who want the ultimate appreciation of how the allies made a success of this crucial component in the victory over Nazi Germany.
It gives a terrific insight and is very enjoyable.
Such a thorough historical analysis and with such gusto by all the crew including your special guests. Fantastic work
Thankyou all, that was exceptional. I do not think it will ever be bettered.
I just wanted to say that I appreciate you two guys hard work and put in this livestream together. All the information you had together and vet and make sure you cross your t's and thought of your eyes because those of us history Buffs out there would call you out on it! LOL great job you guys I'm a long-time subscriber and fan!
I've just finished watching all of this, it's an amazing documentary and deserves to be preserved for all time. When my son grows up I'll be going through all this content again, from the Great War to WW2, never forget
Thank you for your commitment ! Never forget. -TimeGhost Ambassador
You absolute mad lads created something spectacular here. Hope this serves as a format for covering other battles in such exhaustive detail in the future
Thank you so much!
We did our best 😄
When I visited back in the summer of 2018, it felt surreal for a while due to the mismatch between images of June 6 -44 and the present idyllic conditions on Omaha Beach. I guess to those of us who mainly know the place from WW2 history, that's almost inevitable. However, just like your eminent guide, I also found it touching and immensely meaningful to see people there just enjoying life to the full. There wasn't much time, since my group would soon move on, but I coldn't help but insist on a quick swim. I remember the water was warm and very inviting - so unlike that other day long ago.
I'm truly amazed at what you have accomplished. I even feel ashamed for not contributing, even though I've been watching all TimeGhost content since the very first video. I'm going in and enlisting in the TimeGhost army. Thanks for doing this, you're all the best!
I'm about a week in and still have around four hours left. What a series! Great Job to all of you!
Thanks for watching!
-TimeGhost Ambassador
Finally finished watching 24 hours of D-Day! I feel like I am behind schedule, like I should have been in Cahn or Cherbourg awhile ago. I agree that those beaches are for the living. The whole reason the war was fought to free and keep free the peoples under the Axis powers. The bunkers to me are a symbol of the struggle. Not as monuments to the fallen, but reminders of the struggles ending in victory. I think if all the bunkers were removed, it removes much of the perspective for the tourist interested in D-Day. Awesome production!!
Slow and steady wins the race!!
Thanks so much for watching!
