  • As viewers will know on this channel we are huge fans of the Thoroughbred horse and we are always interested to learn about the lives of horses in racing and look behind the scenes. We have had ex racers ourselves and are always interested in snippets we can pick up for fitness to take into eventing.
Charlie Longsdon is a successful trainer based in the Cotswolds and has around 60 horses in training. We go behind the scenes to learn about the attention to detail each horse has, how they are looked after and watch them up the gallops.
    Hope you enjoy.

Interesting. I like the idea of them all just being horses in a herd. It goes a long to producing happy, calm horses. Looks like a very friendly yard.

It’s a very horse focused yard and I can see why William Fox-Pitt’s mother chooses to have her horses in training there (she is a very good horsewoman in her own right)

Glad you enjoyed it. I am not sure I would feel the same visiting a flat racing yard, but I do think National Hunt make a real effort with the quality of life for horses.

Gosh. It’s a machine isn’t it. Fascinating. Did they say why they had gone back to straw bedding as today most seem to use shavings/pellets etc?

They could get great quality straw so just better beds and cost effective.

Thank you. I was thinking too deep. Less dust etc or something 🙄
