fr !! im still trying to grow bck my 19 inch afro by self in the 9th grade because i refuse to assimilate to european hair beauty standards or non black ones btw my mom made my hair fall so yea .. i loved this comment it literally made me cry .. :(
Girl! I feel your pain. I hurt my hand so my husband had to detangle, wash and dry my 5 yo waist length hair. I gave him very specific instructions on what to do. When he was done, I was so grateful... until I went to style it. The hair was not detangled at the roots, she even had left over cornrows 😩 it took me 3 hours to fully detangle
Wow tell your husband he’s a one of kind! Props to him. Lol but props to you for taking proper care of your babies hair!! Waist length.. wasn’t common I think with all the advice on CZcams I’ve noticed black women have had longer hair compared to mid or early 2000s, it’s more common to see
OMG..you published a book! I am going to buy it and add to my collection. This will be an inspiring timeless book. You certainly have creative hair skills. Congratulations 👏👏
I can totally relate and understand. My mom used to do my hair at her age but sent me to the beauty shop because she grew tired. However here I am, reloving and re-learning how delicate my 4c coils are, at 30+ years old. Told myself that I’m not cutting my hair (anymore 😄) unless it’s absolutely needed. About to go and get some J4M detangler for this head of mine.
Mom got your back 😊 I’m so happy to experience your detangling and blow up method. Been waiting for this 🙌🏽 Shanillia’s hair reminds me so of my daughter’s hair. ❤️
Kudos to her with tightly coiled curly hair and she wants to do it herself. You taught her well. we have all had learning curves. She's doing well. Great job on your explaining on how to properly detangle tightly coiled hair. xoxo
@@Serenityblu23 girl, products are not that important as she said in the video. The detangling routine or technique is what you should focus the most on , trust me. It's coming from a former product junkie 🙂
This is exactly what I go through with my tailbone length hair and people don't understand why I just braid it and put a wig over it! Dangling takes 4 hours doing it by myself and by then my arms can't take anymore!
Lol I have been using Shanillia as an example to tell my 11 year to learn doing her own hair. 🤣🤣🤣 and now this🤣. Maybe I am not ready to let go after all. PS we have the same brush🤣🤣🤣 literally tapped like yours coz it broke exactly there.
This video was sooo therapeutic for me... absolutely love your natural hair journey & haircare videos.. please keep them coming. Btw the girls have an awesome mom & they know it!
Awesome job mom!! Yes moms know what they are doing. Thank you for saving her lovely locs. 🙏🏾👏🏾. Thanks for sharing so we can learn how to do our own the right way. Much appreciation. 💕
Mom to the RESCUE!!!! Great job and thanks so much for sharing all of your wonderful tips. I have 2 girls and I've been here before with their hair journey. Keep up the good work and continue to educate them (and your subscribers).
Thank you for showing this. This is the part and explanation I feel like I have been missing. Poor thing, Shanillia was probably tired and also doing too much length show. I understand as she got inches & feet to show. it looks like the trim/cut was sugnificant. She is a young teen and that is what we all did back then. Hard lessons to learn. Thanks mom for coming to the rescue. Some of us are still at that stage in our grand years.😂🤣😂
For me, detangling is the hardest but one of the most crucial aspects of hair care. Before, when I knew nothing about how to care for my hair, I would comb starting from the roots! I thought that forcing the comb through and ripping all my hair was the way to do it😂😂😂 (thank goodness we don't do that anymore!). No wonder my hair never used to 'grow'. I never retained any length because I didn't know how to properly detangle. So yeah, Shanillia, I'm also still learning how to care for my hair, especially how to detangle, so we'll get it right eventually😄😄 And I'm glad mom is still there to help.
This is exactly how my daughters hair is and I’m telling you the stress of wash day is crazy .. I mentally have to prepare myself a day before .. Please could you do a wash routine please
Oh my what beautiful hair and a very pretty girl. That’s a lot of hair, it will take her a while for her to do it on her own. Keep monitoring her. She will eventually get it. But with all that her I would rather someone else do it for me. Good job mom.
I love your series. I don't know if you have already done this, but I would appreciate if you could do a video on sectioning the hair. I have 4c hair which my mum (still) helps me with and I really struggle with sectioning my hair by myself.
If you haven't you should try Ambunu. It will make washing and combing/brushing easier. It is totally natural and extremely slip friendly. It is a natural shampoo and can be used as a leave in conditioner.
BTW.....received my copy of your look book. Very nice, just wished you had included a section with some of your adult styles as well. Maybe something to consider in the future or other editions. Otherwise I was very excited and happy to support. This has been one of my favorite natural hair channels on YT. Can't believe how quickly the girls are growing up. Be safe and continued blessings.
Hey :) she means that when you find a tangle, don't pull it down towards the ground. Pull out each individual hair from the knot by pulling the individual hair upwards while you hold the knot in place. Once you have removed the individual hairs from the knot, only the knot will remain, and you should be able to remove it. Sometimes I'm unable to remove it, and in that case I cut it out after removing all the other hairs that I could save.
Thank you for this video! Where can I get this brush for my daughter? What’s the name of it? I’ll be on the look out for your favorite product video! This was very helpful!

My son hair is almost your daughters length in 3 yrs he started growing his hair out during the pandemic 2020, he knows how to wash and condition his hair in the shower, but I finger & comb detangle, moisturize and clip those ends before he wash which makes it easier for him to run his fingers thru his hair wet. I make my own conditioner with natural ingredients from my kitchen, which helped his hair to flourish, now all he want to do is wear braid/ twist outs and wash and gos 🤦🏽♀️ I gotta teach him how to braid his own hair
